Ahh the memories of my misspent youth. My first band, with me on lead vocals, used to perform a few Deep Purple songs, this was one of them. I was a very fine imitator of Gillan including the high falsetto on Child in Time, what I’d give to do that now in my late 60’s. Thank you Harri for bringing back these classics.
From the 1973 album, " Who Do We Think We are"? Fabulous song from Deep Purple. One of the first British bands to play in Japan in the 70's, this song was written with the Japanese imagery,of a rising sun, before the tour. This is about a Japanese lady who drove the men wild. It reach Number 60 0n the Billboard Hot 100's chart. It has an exhilarating, memorable tiff that penetrates your soul. Fantastic memory. Great reaction Harri. Thanks Harri and Miss Blondie. 👏👏 Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
This was one of the most ubiquitous songs on FM radio for yrs. A song and group I’ll never get tired of. Deep Purple, Made In Japan was and is, one of the must have albums from the Classic Era. Good stuff Harri. 🤘😎
Maybe the simplest track and the best. So strong and driving. I always tend to speed a bit whenever I listen to their music while driving, lol. Cannot wait to see them in September!
Miss Blonde is bringing the smackdown. I've always loved this song!!!! Fantastic pick. Harri, it's one of those songs you gotta crank and yes, gets the heart a pumpin. Such a great band. 👍👍👍
I can't believe you're playing this great tune from Deep Purple, Harri! It's my favorite from the band. Power, all power! This blows away Highway Star and Smoke on the Water in my opinion. Thank you, Blondie and Harri!
This is a very underated album. For your next Deep Purple reaction react to Rat Bat Blue off of this same album. It's a real jammer. Good reaction Harri.
This was my introduction song to Deep Purple. back when I was about 13 or 14 years old in the early 70s. I thought it was the coolest thing I've ever heard went out and bought everything I could from them lol :-). Just came across your Channel today and subscribe. Really enjoying your reactions to a ton of songs I grew up with thank you
The Purple is well know for being a hard rocking band, but what people don't often mention is the supremely crafted songs written by top tier musicians. Lord on keys is one of the best ever, alongside the greats like Wakeman and Emerson. Then you've got a great guitarists in Blackmore, and top notch rhythm section of Paice and Glover.
Just before Jon Lord passed away Rick Wakeman and Jon Lord did a jam together. It was at the Sunflower jam. You may already have heard about it but I thought I would mention it if you didn't know about it.
My favorite Deep Purple studio album, sadly, the last of this MK2 lineup... this was my favorite song from that album, a great album! Nothing touches Made In Japan, but this was their best studio album for me from start to finish.
The similarities between Blackmore's riffs from "Smoke on the Water" and "Woman From Tokyo" have led to debates about which riff is better. "Smoke" came first and is definitely in the top tier of rock riffs of all time but Jon Lord's keyboards in tandem with Ritchie's guitar make "Tokyo" the more impactful one for me. Hat tip to Frank Zappa for inspiring both. LOL. Thanks Miss B. and Harri.
I really like this song. You've done quite a few of DP songs. Some other favorites are their cover of Joe South's song "Hush", "Fireball", "Speed King", "Space Truckin'", "Perfect Strangers", "Burn" etc.
Hi Michael from Brooklyn my fellow music lover Yes Harri needed this, it often gets lost with Highway Star and Smoke On The Water Love them too but this one is extra special
Being 1/2 Japanese, you wouldn't believe the number of guys that sang this song to me!! I'd rather it be this song than "Turning Japanese" by The Vapors!!
This is the only one i can remember where Jon Lord actually played a piano. Seems like it was the B-3 or nothing. Somewhere there is a picture of a very bored Lord poking at a synthesizer, though. This is one of those bands that would take you on a journey. And it was always worth it.
@Larry Arnold Thanks, Larry! I'm am better at remembering history and circumstances rather than names! In any case It was a good year for me personally when this album was released!
This song was written in anticipation of Deep Purple going on their first Japanese tour and anticipating what it would be like. Deep Purple in this era could do no wrong but unfortunately egos, management, and overworking killed them. To me it was never the same after this album.
RIP Jon Lord, DP's keyboard genius

Love, love this song. One of my favourite intros ever. What great keyboard work, as usual, from Jon Lord.
Deep purple is the definition of a band.🤘🤘🤘
Perfect analogy
Great song, great reaction. Thanks Harri 🖖🏻
Ian Paice is one of the best drummers!!!!!
Maybe the simplest track and the best. So strong and driving. I always tend to speed a bit whenever I listen to their music while driving, lol. Cannot wait to see them in September!
Love Deep Purple

Sorry so long getting back Imadrummin however I do believe we share the same taste in music. Music is my Therapy. Enjoy your week
Always been one of my favorite DP tunes. Lazy and Maybe I'm A Leo are a couple other great deeper cuts.
Thanks for the reaction! ✌
I can't believe you're playing this great tune from Deep Purple, Harri! It's my favorite from the band. Power, all power! This blows away Highway Star and Smoke on the Water in my opinion. Thank you, Blondie and Harri!
Yes! All that!!!
I agree with you Kenny
You can never have Deep Purple loud enough. Peace
I think that is the most I've seen you "rock out". I love that cymbal work in the middle. Brilliant!
Out of all the songs on our swim team's juke box when I was a kid- this one sounded the best- that was such a great sound!
What an Amazing song by Deep Purple. ....one of my favorites.
This is a very underated album. For your next Deep Purple reaction react to Rat Bat Blue off of this same album. It's a real jammer. Good reaction Harri.
Yes! Absolutely! Rat Bat Blue is insane.

I get the same rush every time I hear this song... and I've heard it a lot. Great song live as well.

The Stones song, It's Only Rock And Roll, actually came out after Woman From Tokyo. There's also a song byJoe Walsh that uses the same riff.
I saw them at the Budokan in Tokyo in 73 or 74.
The masters of hard rock
Always loved it. 🥰

Lord play’s the smoke riff with Blackmore as well.
Great pick Harri. This song always pumped me up. Take care and God Bless.
Highschool memories right here!
Good stuff ain't been here awhile glad to see you keep on working hard for us appreciate your time
Check out their cover of "Kentucky Woman"
Smoke On The Water was very very popular back in the day but I love this song much more!
Stellar track. 👍
Really like the way Ian Gillan says "To-kayo" just something a little extra.
Says/Sings it's all good.
A match for Led Zep , most underated band , truly timeless, I've seen there prodigy Machine Head which sound like Purple on steriods.
Nigel Benn book .....one of my fav fighters !
Great one thank you
You'll pull your hair back those are top notch vocals
This brings back memories of my teenage years in a pool hall with my friends.

To me, this song couldn't sound further from the Stones. This is actually good.
I am not getting that either. Nothing at all in common.
Great review.
Rockin', Man!
Juke box favorite for when I was playing pinball in high school.

Best driving song ever. Takes you to the point of stupidity, then lets you enjoy the moment with a melody.

Sounds like Deep Purple to me. But maybe the Stones were trying to copy their sound. It's Only Rock and Roll was a year after this.
Check out that other song thats on the album cover Black Night .
One of the first albums I ever bought
Car trouble? Ted the Mechanic!
Not sure if you've dinner reaction to any of their other songs so you should check out the song Burn or the song lazy
Passport Bros in the 70's.
Stones have nothing on purple
In the interlude, where they sound like the group, 'Chicago', completely takes me out of the song and not in a good way. Great song, though.
