Kaljath Panthermage that was the very few scenes that haunted me. I saw it in theaters back in 2007, and I couldn’t stop thinking about that scene.
I can tell because she was bleeding tears in her eyes and that’s the early stages of infection before transforming into a zombie like.

SwornReaper no branch swears an oath to the president or any government official, they all swear to the constitution. That includes the national guard as they are still considered a reserve component of the Army and Air Force. And the guys that are escorting I think are army rangers not NG.
Is no one gonna talk about the scanner mistakenly scanning her as an infected? Either it was defective or that the virus can hide from it.
Ordinary Guy I thought it was a defective. Imagine how many errors that scanner got on people by saying they were clear, but they were actually infected.

This film and Cloverfeild give off the best "creepy" what if vibs. Both very well done in a believable and realistic manner but at the same time keeping the with in the spirit of "filmmaking"
Darn right. I'm glad you are comparing both I Am Legend, and Cloverfield, because I definitely love both movies, because both of them have emotional, and intense scenes.
It's the lighting, and in this particular scene the "held camcorder" vibe it gives. Cloverfield is obviously meant to be like that since the whole film is a found footage film but I Am Legend pulls it off a bit here and there.
Greenland is another recent movie that kinda has the same feel

I named my dog Sam after this movie when I was 12 years old. Samantha just passed away last month at the age of 10 and now I’m revisiting this movie.

KickItUp There’s a whole video about it. Because they had to light up multiple city blocks with more than a thousand extras plus crew. Shooting permits in New York can be ultra expensive too. This is a short scene but in reality, it was a massive logistical challenge.
Watch that section of the Brooklyn bridge. They had to attach expensive specialized lighting.

The acting on this movie 9/10! Very amazing
this scene is so chilling. many of us now can imagine the moral choice he had. It was never really a choice for him, to let his infected wife go through the blockpost. But would any of us do it differently?
Also its interesting to see how he uses his military rank to push through soldiers. Eventually only the elites will have a chance to save their families, and no matter if its the US or Pakistan. We're people after all.

Plot twist: The wife was actually infected and could have been a secret spreader but higher powers took out the helicopter to prevent further widespread infection.

His wife was infected, and he just didn't want to believe that. It went airborne earlier that day, and people would go out during the day in mass to avoid dusk/night as much as possible since the Krippin Virus was already spreading in the city and reports of darkseekers were coming in. The city managed to stay on top of the outbreak until this night. Anyone and everyone became infected due to the airborne mutation, which meana that his wife and daughter were going to die or turn if they didn't die in that crash first

The freaking sound design is amazing. You get sense of realism with the way the helicopter loudly goes on and you can’t hear their voices as they speak to one another, but you can read their lips and the emotion is still there. Good stuff
This movie actually had a good message about staying faithful remember in the end Neville says I'm listening
If they hadn't stopped to pray and wasted time the helicopter would have gotten out in time.

It's a political side that director wants to send us. Scan machines can work or not, it doesn't matter. The most important thing here is how the army splits a huge number of confusing citizen, who just want to move out the city asap, in order. And scan machine is legal and properly tool for them to use. Will was in the army for so long that he knows how to handle.

stephen karmichael I don’t think it was unintended. I think it was put in the script that way to show the confusion and loyalties during a chaotic situation. Some of the soldiers are to keep people from rushing through while the other group is assigned to protect Col. Neville. The first group drew when he got aggressive which triggered the bodyguard detail to draw their weapons on American soldiers. It’s actually a small but genius part of the story.
