I cannot believe it has been 13 years since it first came out. Truly this movie is beautifully chilling and a pandemic warning at the same time. Best Will Smith movie I have seen!

You know nothing bout human psychology if you think he was more in danger looking for his dog in a dark building rather than be alone without his dog! Hell even when his dog died he didn’t care anymore, he planned his death and went against a horde of vampires!

Saddest thing about that is that he wasn't actually killing her initially. He was giving her the Cure that he found worked on animals, then when he saw she started turning he realized she received the Cure too late.
This is one of the coolest scenes ever in film to be hitting shots off on aircraft carrier and the wing of a SR-71 with no one to stop you....EPIC & PRICELESS!! Will Rulez!

Old school futuristic. I was Air Force cadets for two years, and wanted to fly a Blackbird all day. Closest I thought I could ever get to being my heroes in Star Wars and Battlestar Galactica and my fave game Colony Wars back in '97. Unfortunately, I'm asthmatic; Can't breathe synthetic air at high altitudes. They waited two years to tell me that because they wanted me to go to officer academy and continue a ground officer role. I had no interest in the military or military life, so I joined Blackwater for four years to at least put all of that ground training to use. Not exactly what I had envisioned, but the money bought my wife and I a decent place to live. Still wish I could fly a Blackbird over the stratosphere in a space suit watching the sun rise over the world inches away from space.

I sometimes that I was the only citizen in a ruined city. I could have everything to myself. I could literally get whatever object I want just by salvaging destroyed houses and stores for free. I could even have fun using government property for unintended purposes (like Neville playing golf on an aircraft carrier). You don't need to follow traditional laws, and make up your own for yourself. It would literally be Minecraft, except resources are even more limited and everything you need has been around the area.
However, it would also be lonely and hard. Considering the fact that there is nobody in the city, it means that supplies will eventually run out. It means nobody can support or help you. It means that you will have to rely on your own independence considering the fact that nobody will support you. I'm pretty sure if Neville was very miserable after everyone left, despite the fact that everything in the city now belonged to him.
For countless times, I've had to tell myself that you don't need everything in the world to live. You'll need everyone in the world to survive.

I seen the movie a few years ago, an I jus finished readin the book today. Richard Matheson did a great job with the story. I personally love the book way more an suggest you check it out.

They need gas to get out into the safe parts of the water. And it's not really explicitly stated, but I assume that the vampires can swim. I know that there's all the legends about vampires and running water, but in the book Neville debunked a bit of their condition. What I would have done is just clear out a portion on the aircraft carrier. If you can clear out a couple bulkheads that lead directly outside then you'll be safe. Even with their constant adrenaline pumping there's no way even a hundred of those things all pulling at once could even bend one of the like 5inch thick steel doors.
