In the IT industry for the last 17 years from Tier1 college, I can vouch that nothing matters more than your inner call. Take risk early on. I do not bother about branding myself as well, it is learning that matters. So go on, good luck.
You are spot on. I worked with start ups in product and technical program management for around 7 years, and joined Amazon in 2021. In these 7 years have got tremendous opportunities to work on developing new products from scratch. After joining Amazon I realized that they have relatively slow pace, which is obvious considering their vast scale of business, distributed teams, and it's worth having this experience at this scale. Working in startups helped me to put my learning and add value to this scale of Amazon. Amazon is giant, hence obviously slow but you contribute at huge scale. Overall start ups give you faster and dynamic learning because they strive to hold their grounds; launch fast, fail fast and apply learning to revamp the products you build. All this can be experienced in a short span.
It's not that difficult for her actually, she's earning from UA-cam as well and the startup which she will be joining will pay her too...it would have been a tough decision if she wasn't earning from UA-cam

Recently I also resigned from a startup and joined an Indonesian start-up again A lot to learn HERE !! As a fresher I got the responsibility to work directly on production take risk and do it sometimes I get nightmares about having issues in production !! and sometimes I worked 21 hr straight !!😅

Whatever and which ever startup you join, whatever technology you pick. Over all there is something called domain. So learn and stick to the domain. Try to find the problem statement of a domain and then bring technology to solve it. And domain is not learnt on shorter cycle of work. Rest is always individual choice to work around it. Maybe this happens if you achieve promising opportunities just by chance. I feel it can be more justified if she had dreams of changing her career stream like pilot, cook, scientist, astronaut,etc. All she needs is startup responsibility of developing products from scratch which she already did in Amazon as SDE1. Hey Anshika! I totally respect your decision and I did the same few months back I got placed in a very well known MNC with a decent package from my college placements. But, I left and applied for some off-campus opportunities and joined a startup, currently working as an Data Engineer. I know the work life balance is not that good but, I know this is the time to furnish my skills and potential from scratch and I'm doin that.
