My dad was a workaholic all his life (and my life) he worked 10+ hour days in the factory managing thousands of people and enjoyed staying at work late. He retired and Amazon offered him a high paying high level job. He denied and they offered him even more. He went to work for Amazon.. quit after 1 year (was expected to work 2). Said it was the worst experience in his life.

What kind of bs is this lol. The leaders/management don't do shit compared to the T1's. T1's are the backbone and put in the blood sweat and tears for amazon to be so successful. All management does is sit on their asses all day giving out write ups while the real workers walk 10+ miles and lift 10-40lb product every 2-5 minutes.

I worked at Amazon. I think they want you to quit after like 6 or 9 months. I felt this way and others I talked to felt that way. They will never admit it though.

@@anthonyluisi7096 could be maximise profits or ideas no matter the exploit which they develope later, as they are big corporation they know people will desire to work for them. So they churn and burn employees as long as they maximise capital profits and control of resources that can be automated later.
1. Learn user behaviour data (so we can sell to them on their actions)
2. Invest in space travel (monopoly a market to dictate price, use and logistics to resource rich planets)
3. When you have wealth, companies tend to shape country policies not people's votes unfortunately. Sometimes leading to more monopolies
4. Buy up competitors to absorb their technology, then disband competitor then develope technology for their own direct benefits. This happens more often than is thought

Thisworldismycage Amazon sounds like the back-up to my cool 😎 supervisor. I’m afraid when she gets the spot after my supervisor retires, I’ll be going elsewhere. I have never been disrespected, or been made to to feel less or inadequate until she supervised me on approximately 2 occasions. I will not deal with her, it’s NOT worth it, and I make six figures. So, go figure! My heart bleeds for those who are relegated to working for a crappy company. Now I’m glad I sold that amazon stock years ago. I would hate to support a company with such crappy morale or appreciation for the hard working people making it all possible for them to profit! I’m not looking back, and planning for the day the Amazon type boss takes over for my exit with grace. I’ve had success, and have received zero recognition when it’s the amazon substitute boss. My real boss, is a true boss. I will work super hard for her, and go out of my way to exceed her expectations. The other amazon type boss, well...that’s just not going to happen.

I've had conversations with hundreds of software developers near Seattle over the past 2 years and virtually all of the developers I know who have worked at Amazon said that it was a miserable existence.

It's data-driven and fast-paced so basically they have no work-life balance at all because you have to deliver and if you don't they somehow blame that on you and not the insane work culture they built.

I’ve done the interview process at amazon too. Didn’t get the job, wasn’t good enough a few years back. But I knew this is what I’d be walking into.

I have a friend that worked for Amazon in Australia, and what he told me a few months ago when he quit and moved back to the States is exactly what the guy in the video is saying.
I buy a lot of stuff from Amazon for both personal and business use, but they run a multinational sweatshop for computer people.

Get in, get out, have a clear ambition of getting it on the resume, but don't expect to enjoy it, every person I worked with when asked what is the best work you ever did, it was something they did before Amazon........that told me everything I needed to make my departure decision.
I haven't shopped at Amazon since I saw them allowing price gouging during the COVID outbreak. I have survived just fine.

They dont "allow" price gouging. The way the platform is setup thats naturally going to happen but they are constantly trying to prevent that from happening. A good friend of mine was an engineer working on the backend of security for preventing this from happening during the pandemic.
I took a remote training class for Amazon for the customer complaint call center. It was the most unprofessional, unorganized, incompetent training that I've ever been through. I can't help but wonder if Amazon is built on sand after completing that class. But, on a side note, I love shopping with Amazon...you can't beat the convenience.
Ya Customer complains Call centre is just lost. They have no idea what went wrong. But I think they try. So Can't blame. Unprofessional yes. But if you have a query and return request it just is super smooth.
@@jittenddra.. I agree that it does seem smooth from the consumer end BUT the cost to the company is way more than it needs to be. Also, "they try" is lame. Results mean something. Trying is just an excuse for not getting results. If they have no idea what went wrong then that's the company's fault. It was so friggin' obvious when I was going through training that an entry level manager should be able to find the cause in the dark. I'm not trying to be judgmental or critical...It was just too obvious to anybody that has worked in management as to what the issues were.
@SweatDeezTexas What makes you feel like it's a corporate demon. Mom and pop stores are still alive, but they will never compete with the internet. They're slowly becoming a thing of the past. You can't stop progress to make it fair for everyone. People need to figure out how to compete. As long as I'm shopping online, I want to deal with a company that gets me my order on time and in good condition. A company that will make it right if they fail in their obligation. Amazon does just that and I will continue shopping with them until a company comes along who can compete with the level of service I get from Amazon.
@SweatDeezTexas 1) If you have a smartphone then they can track everything you do in its proximity. 2) I don't have a smart tv, echo dot, or alexa for exactly that reason. 3) This is the new norm. Just like NSA getting busted for tracking our data - they didn't stop because they got busted, they just got sneakier about it. This stuff isn't going away. The best you can do is give them the least amount of doorways into your life as you can. Amazon, by no means is the only company doing this. Just NO way. So, as long as they continue to provide a great service at a great price I will continue making my life a little easier. If I was totally off-grid, which I'm not, I would reconsider my stance.

i worked at amazon warehouse for 2 days.. the work is easy and not bad but the leadership and management is horrible.. lots of micromanaging and bad leadership of immature people.. if the leadership was better it would be a great place to work..
So long as there are people who want to put Amazon on their resume but get drained of their life, this will continue.

This guy is spot on for sure. I held 5 jobs and was awarded bonuses all the time, when they gave them, and they wanted to hold stats over my head until I pushed myself too far. Also, when they want to let you go they will always have 100 different ways to say goodbye if they want. There is no way in hell not to walk the lines they set and move around whenever they deem it to be necessary.
And they will try their best to align it with policy

From experience… Amazon is a beast. I watched this video when it came out. During that time I was working so hard to get to the level of Amazon. After 3 years in the industry I finally landed the coveted job. Once I got there… it was something crazy
My warehouse opened back in October of 2019. I joined in December of 2019 and was fired a week from today. My boss didn’t even give me the respect of letting me know why I was fired instead she ignored my email & text message but had the audacity to send me shift messages early that mourning. I still receive them for some reason even though I was fired. I used to work everyday when nobody wanted to work, I used to stay overtime to help my managers, but the last 9 days of august my suicidal thoughts became overwhelming so I took 1 day off and came late a few times by 5 minutes because I had trouble sleeping during this time period. I got fired shortly after lol
No one remembers the times you stayed overtime, but arrive 5 minutes late 1 time and everyone loses their dog gon mind.

As a former employee for Amazon I've always said slavery isn't over it moved to Amazon. I'm not lazy and don't mind working, but just the micro managing they did was ridiculous. I was excited to start there too, but that quickly changed. I quit after 5 months.

Sure the benefits were good, but if you weren’t there for a few years, you wouldn’t recoup any of those benefits like the paying for college and Amazon stock. I believe they make it a few years, because most people aren’t going to make it that long. Buttttt if you are preggers then by all means I say work there. They’ll take care of you. This was many years ago. I’m very happy at my current job and striving!

I'm work at Amazon I can tell you I have been through about 20 managers in 2 years, 15 of them were fired. It's TRUE they will fire you for the dumbest reason. The place is busy depending on what site you are at. Outbound site, return site, robotic site just depends. As far as recognition there is some recognition but not alot
not ruthless enough I'm afraid. I've waited for two weeks for a delivery and it appears to me that local UPS stole my package and signed in my place. They should use authenticators for delivery, not useless manual signatures. I am still waiting to see if they overturn the situation and issue my refund. I'm unlikely to make high value purchases from amazon ever again.
A large percentage of items listed on Amazon seems to be of dollar store quality. Or less. Tons of brands I’ve never heard of.

This is how most big business works. Leave nothing to uncertainty and where there is uncertainty, minimise the risk to timelines and goals.
Walmart Warehouse does the same thing. They have a 'vested system, but I don't know ANYONE who's ever reached it.
As soon as you get close, i.e 3 years. They start changing your shift every week and changing your responsibilities until you're late or make mistakes.
Then you're fired and you can reapply in a few years, or you can transfer to a store where you make a fraction of what you used to make.

I lived next the Seattle Amazon campus for years. I met my share of burnt out employees. What a turd of a company Amazon. The employees didn't even really have time to say hello, they were drones. When you work at Amazon, you become a terrible neighbor, and overall depressed person.
Amazon is just a push you to death culture company, reflected perfectly by its “day one” work day, you should work as excited and as hard as your day one into your job, everyday.

Yup, two years later and it's gotten worse. I'm a 20 year old man, but my body already feels 40. Put in 4 months at a warehouse last year, and currently entering my 3rd month there as of now. It's a nightmare, but I live in a mostly rural area with few other places to work that pay well.
Can't quit yet, gotta keep making money until I'm out of debt. It'll be over one day, but it still feels like I've been, and always will be trapped for eternity here. It's hell.

Felt like like a prison when I worked there... cause of covid... it was an eerie place to work. They got so many people lined up to work there, it doesn't matter if you quit.
I worked at Amazon. It felt like one of the old Herbalife seminars.
Unfortunate. These giant companies should be the BEST places to work at, setting the standard and providing the best working experience for their employees. I guess somewhere along the line employee loyalty is just forgotten about..

My company grew 2000% in 3 years by servicing Amazon. And yes I said two thousand percent. Problem is they want to make the decisions for your business as well and if you don't follow them then hell with you. I hesitantly abided their request, got sued and am now out of business. I worked at amazon this summer and it was absolutely brutal let me tell ya...
I worked for a crew to help get an Amazon center up. The rules were strict and anyone break even a small rule were immediately asked to leave.
These companies only need you giving all for 2 years, then you can be replaced by someone else giving all for the next 2 years. They certainly make sure the handover procedure is as perfect as possible. I have no idea how they can do this for high ranking roles though. It's not like with Chinese factories that just need a human resource to do 80 hours per week until it dies, and can then be replaced by another resource.
Amazon’s whole business is package and content delivery.
They’re on a trajectory to monopolizing that. Which is basically the interface between a customer and everything a customer could want.
I still ship brick-mortar just because I like it. I don’t need fast delivery.
If you aren't Prime your delivery takes over a week...and I live 5 mins from their warehouse!
You could probably walk down there and get a deal with them.

These are all sweeping generalizations. Of course a big company is going to be ruthless, that's how they become big. Once you are on top the others want to knock you down. However, their actual criminality is when they ask small businesses who their manufacturer is before they sell on Amazon, when they are forced to tell them, they bypass them and go straight to the manufacturer. That needs some legal ramifications.

@Black Watch lunch break yes, but for bathroom breaks you just have to let the manager know your going and be quick about it. if they see in the system you've been "idle" for too long you can get in trouble.
@@BuggsbenisI currently work at Amazon in picking, and you are absolutely right about that. We don't have to tell the manager at our location if we have to use the bathroom. We can just go ahead and go, but just as long as we're not gone for too long, like you said.

Stowers always have to wait for pickers to pass and then they barely train for that.
We created a monster with Amazon. Well I am glad to say I have not used the site regardless of how crazy that may seem to most. I remember when the small hardware stores in Philly were selling out before Home Depot or Walmart arrived and at a young age I understood the good and bad that was to come. Personally I have no problem paying more for an item from a local business and I do not need everything in my hands yesterday. We have all become addicts to convenience and it is all changing going into 2021. Jeff Bezos (Not his initial last name) wants to control all retail aspects across the board to implement a system that will be based on a minute to minute supply/demand algorithm. Parts for a 20 year old truck will no longer be affordable, trending will take on a whole new meaning, and worst of all he will eventually control thoughts and impulses should a neurolink become a mainstream item. I give him credit as a businessman with unheard of drive but the story he tells does not hold water for me. I believe he and most figureheads of big tech companies are in someway knowing or unknowingly acting on behalf of DARPA and/or a certain 3 letter agency to play the roll while being am innovator yet taking direction from handlers playing the world game of chess. It's all about power and if you follow the money or better yet the data, you will find the wizard behind the curtain. Mr. Bezo's "leaked" text messages to his girlfriend seemed more along the lines of amateur, even laughable and desperate for a guy worth $100's of Billions. He most likely had to be put in his place and a honeytrap or simply a news headline picked up by the Sun or TMZ type of media falls in line with a 3 letter agency that literally goes about it's business with an unlimited budget and no oversight. The new oil is data and since that agency acts as the global leading cartel, my money is on them controlling all we the people helped them create in record time. Amazon is a blood sucking, soulless company that I can not see any one happily working for in general. Two years would be like aging 10 years. Look at their hiring and treatment in fulfillment centers and let's not even mention their trucks and drivers being hammered to the point they do not care about the vehicle or blocking a main street in a big city. I wish you all the best in the future and hope we can all come together as a species otherwise we will tear each other apart in some way or another. Maybe it's too late...All I know is that I will not take part in their reset and new normal...I do not fear the only guarantee in life after we are born. There is much more energy and consciousness that my soul and all souls will experience after judging oneself following physical death...Gotta be truthful and real in the end. Bezo's thinks of himself as a god that will live forever...Sounds more like a demon to me since we are living in hell on earth going into the year 2021 or whatever year it is or isn't.

It’s really more like 5 minutes because it takes you 10 minutes to walk through the warehouse.
They time you on restroom breaks.
They time you on making quotas.
They compare you with the quotas of other workers but don’t give you a definite answer on the quotas to meet.
They force you to work overtime.
They make life really difficult for you.
However working at a warehouse did make me a better multitasker, more productive, better problem solver and made me to value my mental health more.
If there’s one job that needs to be robot automated it’s warehouse jobs.

itstheiceman11 it’s a joke. I walked one time from the area to the break room after it took me 10 minutes to just walk back and forth and I never took my break where I was supposed to again. The richest company in the world penny pinches. People sit on stools and skids to get the full break.

I almost convinced myself to try getting a job there again as they say they've changed now, and promise work-life balance. Apparently not. What I cannot reconcile is my ex-colleague, who is a reasonable human being, apparently has worked there for maybe 4-5 years. Modesty doesn't let me ask him out of the blue how come he is still there. Another example is a person who interviewed me more than 10 years ago is apparently also there. He seemed reasonable, although he told me he never takes vacations. When I heard my jaw drop, he explained why take a vacation if you know it will be ruined.

Many of us Americans are not lazy, we’re bored, uninspired, lacking passion and/or purpose. We contemplate our present position, pondering our poverty, inquiring about positions of employment between Netflix binges, UA-cam audio books, etc hence we maintain a sense of busyness yet accomplish nill on the dollar scale. So, is that true laziness or something else all together?
UPS had the same repetation, only hiring four shifts, and kicking your ass for 4 hours straight.

Warehousing employs much of the lower class. A lot of warehouse jobs are moving to these temp, low pay long work hours, pick X amount or be fired. They use staffing agencies to constantly bring in fresh meat. Glad to be getting out of it
I would like to see all companies adopt some kind of standards and enforce them. The amount of pieces of shit, in management and individual contributors, who work in corporate hellscapes is unacceptable.

As a senior level management in tech, everyone around me sees working for Amazon / Lab126 as an absolute joke, myself included. Not only do they demand your life and your first born child, they don't even pay competitively (verified through their recruiters). I see working for them as an absolute last resort when you're hurting and literally no other companies would take you.
Really? 'Cause I'm a new grad(software engineering) and some of my friends do work for Amazon and their compensation is comparable with Google and Uber(which is way higher than market standards).

I had several private label products I sold on Amazon until they found a reason to boot us out. Threw tons of inventory in the trash because they wanted an arm and leg to ship it back to me. Also your competing against them and things they are selling. They clearly see what the huge sellers are and start selling them and put their products at the top of the first page. It should be illegal the way they compete against their sellers. Unfair playing field!! Scammers!!! It seems like making 33% of everything sold by Sellers would be enough but its not. Greed is an understatement!

During the pandemic Amazon had nothing, so I went to Walmart. Sure things were slow but they shipped with FedEx as soon as an item was available.
For instance in on order of ten can of soup, among other things, they sent the 10 soups in 6 different packages. Three times I literally got one can of soup delivered bu FedEX. There is no way they made a penny on my 36 dollar order, and shipping was free. I respect them for that.
You respect them for not making a profit? Lol this is how companies go out of business you know? The only reason they do that is because they haven’t come up with a efficient system of delivery like amazon has, they got it down to a science.

Well, at this point it doesn't matter if you buy from Amazon or not. Amazon is going into or is now into weapons and other ULTRA HUGE businesses. Amazon could literally lose 75% of their customers backing and still not give a fuck. Amazon has morphed way beyond an online sales market. Do some research and you will quickly see that you quiting Amazon is basically a loss for you, now. We are the product. Slick...ain't they.

Well, amazon doesn't control all online business. Sometimes, when I need auto parts, I order from RockAuto. I simply enter the make, model, and year, and I can get parts quickly. They even show pictures of the part I need, and their prices are inexpensive. They always tell me that I will have the parts in two weeks, but I get them in a fraction of that time. I have found RockAuto to be quite reliable.

I have wondered how I can get some of the items I purchase online delivered so rapidly, now I know. The human cost outweighs the cost saving I received. It seems like a vicious cycle.
Is Amazon extremelt stressful? I am interviewing for Catalog Associate in Netherlands, basically uploading content for sellers at Amazon Vendor Services, editing descriptions and stuff likw this. I am just worried that they will use me as a machine and it is never enough, most horrible experiences I saw are from warehouse workers, not sure about office jobs. Any ideas?

I’m quitting at the end of the month. The first three or four months was great, but they just started being more impractical as more time passed. It’s unfortunate because had they made things more practical I would have made Amazon successful.
