Never a better breakdown for the carry methods - EXCELLENT points! Too many people trying to do EVERYTHING with chest rigs. I roll with LBE but very open on the front for several reasons: release of heat build up and dirt diving/crawling. It's also much easier with LBE to climb over stuff, hump the hills, take more stuff with you and all while NOT looking like a Ninja Turtle!
Excellent stuff brother! I’ve always used chest rigs based on experiences but I definitely see the need for both! Great video!
Considering the military is moving back to LBE's, I'd say the LBE. But in reality it boils down to two things: Mission requirement, personal preference.
Everyone's different but for me the lbe seems to distribute the weight more evenly on the body, and works better getting in and out of the prone position.
If I'm not doing anything thats DA, or doesnt have a system of sustainment for recon or urban settings, I'm picking the LBE. Plate carrier for DA. Chest rig for those small, shorter, ops where I have things to sustain me in my envionrment without the need to carry them. Chest rigs can have a great application for those low vis urban applications ESPECIALLY in conjunction to a low vis plate system should you need any armor.
I have a small high chest rig. Carrying tools and tourniquet. I also have my battle belt with survival gear. Then my backpack with camping gear.
Here in MO I’ve found the lbe works super well just because the summers are so damn hot you need to be able to keep things off your torso. Currently been using a nixie works rig and it’s been great.
Very well executed and explained.......... Too many people want to look macho, but have no clue to the actual weight and the long hours on patrols that after years and months will take a toll on your lower back. If you go to the range just to " look at me" and not use the equipment, you are going to learn a very life changing event if you have to use the equipment that you do not know how to properly. This video has explained the use very well, and I commend and thank you for doin so. Salute
It's all needs based - duh. Combining chest rigs with belt and rucks is probably best for most folks,
Great stuff. I'm in the Southern coastal swamp and run a belt kit similar to what I used in 90's Africa. Better heat dispurtion. I find most guys don't understand the difference between waistline and hips, that's why they don't like belt kits.
My chest rig isnt as sexy as my JPC or trex slick plate carrier but it holds 8 mags, has a trauma kit, radio, range finder, notebook, flashlight, and skittles. Its so versatile it can even go on top of a plate carrier as a bandolier.
Great analysis and points!
Nice work. Paul Harrell vibes. Thank you!
I’m of the mindset that it’s actually to have all, or at least some variation of these. This way you have setups that are mission specific. Same with your firearms. I don’t have just one general purpose setup. I have multiple setups in multiple calibers to cover a vast range of scenarios that i may encounter. Being over prepared, is being prepared, in my book. Great video that explains the use and pros and cons. Just subscribed
I use all 3 methods, as you stared, for various scenarios, they all have their place, at the appropriate time of use, great video. 👍🏾👊🏾💯
Agreed. Chest rigs are best for mechanized troops, where mobility in vehicles is paramount.
Props for the SOE modular LBV. I was ecstatic when he finally started making them again, but by that time, I chose to go with Spiritus Systems LBE kit, as it was in current production and fairly available. John's gear has been my go to for nearly 30 years.
Good video nice job!
Nice breakdown brother! Thanks!
Awesome video man thank you!
