with a y harness, no thanks, h or x is the best, i will say that if they just redesigned it like most people mod it, it'd be an amazing issued piece of gear
@@Anarcho-harambeism the “ Y” harness has never bothered me. I took one two day class with it and have trained in my own several times with it and have never noticed an issue 🤷🏻♂️
@@concernedpatriot.2221 using it for weeks at time, an h or x is far more comfortable and balances the weight better. I personally use an H so I can have name taps on the back.
@@concernedpatriot.2221Have you ever lived with a TAPS on you for days on end? Also, have you ever had to carry significant weight with it? The Y harness makes it impossible to adjust the TAPS high enough or tight enough, and after spending enough time in it and walking enough distance in it, it will rub your hips raw, or, if you have a longer torso, your waist. It also sucks for compatibility with rucksacks, the sag gets in the way of hip/waist belts, same with integrating it with tactical belts, totally impractical with the issued harness. Additionally it flops and swings around which is extremely annoying. It probably works fine with the issued harness if you aren't moving long distances with it or integrating it with other equipment, but the floppiness will still be annoying and also look super dumb.
@@personalaccount8914, did you purchase an "H" or "X" harness, whichever you favor, to replace the issued "Y" harness ??? Just don't cut anything off, if you have to DX it. In the civilian arena, some people want expensive minimum carry chest rigs....others, want something more budget friendly that carry more. If it works for them, it works for them. I had the "Y" shoulder straps on the A.L.I.C.E. gear (Deuce gear, for those that know), and it worked well for me back then, and after retiring, I still had it until I switched up to some flat "H" harnesses (for light weighted kits), but slightly padded if I am banging out reps with a heavier load out. I have seen a lot more lower back complaints from "chest rig only" personnel (which I attribute to a lack of back work, and going full bore in their training without giving themselves a "break in" period with it). But, to each their own. Stay safe out there, Brother. We can all work together, if we have the same goals.
This is an awesome video I’m going to share to a large group. This rig is coming back in a big way. Even T-Rex arms just came out with an overpriced variant of the same thing. This video is extremely relevant. Thank you.
Just bought one. After wearing for a minute, I can tell I need a proper H harness and not the silly hybrid Y harness weirdness. Solid vid! Solid demo! Solid suggestions! It is a bit wider than most, but that allows you to get your gear off to the side and outta your way........ as long as you don't mind gear in your armpits!😂😂😂
Thanks for this video. I bought one of these, and didn't care for the harness or mag flaps, so it's just sitting in my closet with all my 62 grain mags. I didn't think that this could attach to my modern plate carrier. Too bad I bought other placards. I will get a good harness to replace the crappy one it came with. Thanks again!
💯 I completely agree with you and believe, myself, that every "able," patriotic, American should be training regularly and have the apropriate equipment to execute that training in a moment's notice
QUESTION.....I have some old but very serviceable gear I'd like to put on my molle panel. Problem is the old stuff has the ALICE clips not molle. How can I convert it???
Thanks for answering I wanted to let you know, I purchased the TAPS chest rig and set it up similar to yours. Which was a great idea and by the way it does connect to the 3 day assault pack. Thanks again buddy
if it gets that bad. there will be plenty of gear for just picking up. ether side sees me they will instantly know i am not a threat. 65 broken body bad limp poor eyesight. etc.
After buying and hating several chest rigs, I discovered the TAPS vest and love it. I will never again think about buying another chest rig.

This was really helpful. As an old Navy guy from Submarines this is not something we learned!

What the hell is a “62 grain mag?”
@@coryhoggatt7691 mags with 62 grain rounds in it.
Just cut the flaps off, And get the Spiritus TAPS upgrade kit.
Mags loaded with 62 g ammo. Probably safe to assume green tips@@coryhoggatt7691
I was hoping to see it fully set up! 😂 Always looking for setup ideas. I have been through 4 different rigs trying to find my perfect fit and setup
It’s great to have extra gear and extra options. You never know who you’ll have to outfit in the future.
great video. Need to show us how you tied the middle 4 shock chords though. Thanks!
Thank you😺
Thank you. 👍
Great video brother.
Excellent video & info thanks

Umobtainium has a US made H harness for pretty cheap.
Thanks for that!
A good cheap addition is the USMC Speed Reload pouch to put on the support side
GREAT JOB.
Appreciated mate.
Some guys don’t like how wide the rig is. Condor sells good options that are slightly slimmer.
the desert tan is not so great north of the grapevine into central and then northern ca.
but if any way to color them then might be worth it.
I believe you can get the army version in multicam
rattle can.... just like a gun
👍👍👍👍👍👍 Will the mag pouches hold 2 steel mags each ? Thanks in advance for the reply.
No only one mag pmag or aluminum

Look into malice clips. Those might work out for you.
MALICE clips or use 550 cord or zip ties.
If you remove the harness, will the chest rig connect to the USMC 3 day assault pack?
I haven't tried it
Thanks for answering
