Big one: discarding items gives you a crap ton of hope. Something you should do right before the last boss fight. Anything your not gonna use, toss out.
Allow me to make a quick insert here, Jester's stress heal is actually just a "oh shit" button for dealing with stress nukes. The best way to "manage" stress - keeping it low so that you may have more favorable relationship interactions - is through the UPGRADED "Bolster" skil of Man-at-arm. It has a chance to reduce stress by 1 for ALL, is spammable, and works well with his play style(tanking, guarding others etc). Second best is upgraded "ounce of prevention" from plague doctor. It is guaranteed to reduce stress by one, also buffs the whole team with all res. But the skill has a cooldown of 2 turns and the plague doctor is also a nuker, a healer and even capable of crowd control, so using her turn to stress heal&buff may seemed wastful at times.
I really appreciate your comment. I love when people come to the channel to have a discussion about something. I think you make an interesting point, but I would argue the game doesn't really "slow burn" stress. The jester's ability to chunk away 3-stress with one ability is wildly more impactful than taking away 1 stress from everyone, because it's rare that all your heroes will reach 10-stress at the same time. It's definitely different than the 1st game, the balance is slightly different, but I really think a more focused stress-reliving system works best.
@@LegacyGamingUS the reason that strategy is not effective is because in order for jester to heal they NEED to be already irritated (4 stress or more) meaning that they will already be triggering negative interactions, and especially if a character is stuck at 4 stress jester is worthless for stress. Plague doctors ounce of prevention is an aoe stress heal and so is man at arms, and while you are correct it is a small amount they can do it at any time which helps maintain that below 4 stress.
@@LegacyGamingUS I think jesters inspiring tune is way better honestly. Stock and upgraded. First it starts as -2 stress. But once you upgrade it it’s -3 and removes horror which is very useful during cultist encounters. And now they added a minimum stress level before you can be affected by stress removal so now it’s even stronger because he can reduce people down to 2 stress instead of anyone else being at 4.
Controlling the Carriage: In the options menu you can adjust how responsive the carriage is to your button inputs. I tested out each option, and I recommend maxing out the carriage's responsiveness. Debris is placed in patterns such that you can almost always hit every debris pile in your path when these options are set to max responsiveness, but it's physically impossible to do so on any other setting I tested regardless of user skill, because your cart can't drive at the angles required.
I feel like my heroes envy eatch other for killing an enemy all the time but someone has got to do it and some heroes can do it more reliably than others. This is the one part of the game that feels very rng to me as of right now but I love everything else so far. Thanks for the tips!
I COMPLETELY agree. The relationship system is not tuned correctly (which is fine since it’s early access) but you’re absolutely right, it needs to be fixed. I will say I finally got a run where I was able to have all positive relationships and holy heck it’s OP. Beat the run with that team
Is not really RNG, if an hero has 4 or more stress, it wil have negative effects when any other hero does basically anything, if they have 3 or less, they will compliment them, so this game is basically "keep all your heroes at 3 stress or lower". Of course I agree that there is definetly some tuning to be done here, but once you get how to keep stress low the game becomes so much easier.
@Gustavo Henrique It's confirmed to be like this, but it's not you that is dumb, it's this system for now ahah, the basis is good but the way it works now is too strict imo, and if you take the "ounce of hope" (or whatever it's called) upgrade for the plague doctor on the first inn, the game is basically a joke, they have some work to do, but that's why it's an early access
@@AntonioBenetti yeah I noticed it too. On my first one everyone was stressed and hated each other. But on my second run I decided to take the man at arms stress relief bolster and just spammed it and now everybody loves each other
Loathing: Actually, it is clear when Loathing rises, and the in-game tutorial menu mentions it as well. Loathing increases by 3 pips every time you reach an Inn.
I have to argue that the first and easiest stress relief is upgrading the plague doctors "Ounce of Preventition" with the turorial mastery point you get for free. Hits the whole party as well.
Right but now with the new minimum stress requirement I find that it’s much harder to justify spending a turn on it. I used to run MAA upgraded bolster and PDs ounce together which got me to the mountain and threw it on my second run because I didn’t have to worry about stress at all.
Tip for Cultist battles: Kill the front liners and their corpse first for as soon as the Cherubs are forced to the front all they do is the attack “Brisk Bedevilment” which only does 2 damage at most. Won every cultist battle easily with this. Also figure out which position is least advantageous for each enemy you fight as manipulating turn economy by making them do bad moves can save you a lot of pain. Finally I just have the tip of don’t underestimate the first ability unlock for the highwayman Point Blank Shot. It allows you to burst frontliners really fast.
Tip he missed, always take the Sluice option if it is there. It's a free run (it doesn't count against the progress toward the Mountain). So just another few battles to help get more mastery points, trinkets, etc. It's a 'blind' area, so there is no map, and it's very short. *Additional, though, cheese move, cause of the way game is in EA, tip: Throw all your items out just before going into the mountain for free, bonus, HOPE. (and more rank advancement) One assumes you'll carry over items when additional chapters are there to continue on. *Nother 1 or 2: Again, cause EA, don't bother with any coach upgrades other than +4 slots, or maybe the generic scout chance, cause game will end before you really get to make use of the item producing ones, and the "stacks higher' options are way, WAY, worse than +4 slots. Same vein, don't bother locking good traits, game will end long before you have a risk of losing them.

I can't say I care the rounds timer, I don't like the idea of having to rush. Also this is just me but I kind of miss them being smaller lol. The character models were so cute last game.
Only road battles have the timer and honestly I think that’s ok. I like that the smaller fights won’t consume your entire run so you can focus on the big fights
Don't mind that it forces you to be aggressive rather than healing and such but I think it needs a tune. Some fights ALL I DID was attack one enemy and it died on like, round 3. I now have 2 rounds to kill 3 MORE enemies? It's too punishing.
i still don't understand the relationship system. at early release it goes up pretty fast, but now everytime i play it only decrease. when i heal someone who's about to die, someone cry because he is not healed while he still have almost all his HP. sometime killing a creature just after another hero hit it make it a "combo" but most of the time they whine because i take their glory. they spend all their time to criticise and almost never again rise up the relationship... what did i don't understand?!
Even looking at your tips and gameplay gave me a bunch of anxiety. DD1 really was a VERY stressful game, and DD2 looks like the same. I have to say, the coach trip is a HUGE step down from the actual dungeon crawling. I think this is a real shame. Having said that, I don't miss the slow backwards moving from DD1. That was just stupid.
To help your anxiety, I would say that there are a few crucial things the video missed. When it comes to stress and the new relationship system, Jester is probably the worst stress manager in the game. The game is infinitely easier now when you upgrade plague doctors ounce of prevention or man at arms bolster, and id go as far to say except for very rare occasions this game is way less stressful than DD1

For road battle you can anticipate what kind of ennemies you will fight : Broken cart with light=zombies, roadblock with patchwork flags=thieves, blackflags with white signs=fanatics...
Loathing increases once you make it to the inn. If you started off at 3 loathing and took the necessary fights, loathing will be reduced to 0 until the next inn. At which point loathing will increase by 2 or 3. Kind of a reset as you prepare to leave for the next run.
@@LegacyGamingUS Thank you for the vid! I had no idea that I could see the goals for the next map until I watched this. I went on a run and my goal was “not to equip any wagon upgrades” and I was like, “well would have been nice if I knew that beforehand”. 😂
You want DD2 to be easy? 1 single rule: Stress healing > HP healing. Stressed heroes are more likely to have negative relationship reaction than calm ones and calm once will have more positive reaction on kills etc. Once you figure out to always keep the stress level of your party as low as possible, you will end every run with all your heroes having a bond with each other and easily winning the boss fight. The secret is to always take Plague Doctor on the journey and always upgrade his buffing skill to also heal 1 stress of your entire party in the first inn. Then always heal stress if possible.
Cannot wait to start! I love the Darkest Dungeon and Slay the Spire. I see countless hours of frustrating ambushes, but wouldn't have it any other way.
I actually think the Plague Doctor is the most important for keeping stress low. Upgrading "An Ounce of Preparation" will make it reduce the stress of all team members by 1 when you use it, in addition to its resistance buffs.
As for stress, the Plauge Doctor's Ounce of Provision ability, when upgraded also removes 1 stress from all party members. Pretty usefull at hte begining of the game as Pd is one of the starting characters
Stress Heal: There is a much earlier and more reliable stress-heal available than Jester's -- Plague Doctor's Ounce of Prevention ability, when upgraded, has a 100% chance of reducing every party member's stress by 1, and has a reduced cooldown of 2. Jester's stress heal can only be used when the target's stress is over 50%, which means 6 stress or higher. At 3 or more stress, your heroes are much more likely to have negative road banter and negative in-combat interactions, which causes a snowball of stress increases above and beyond what enemy attacks apply to them. I try to keep my heroes below 3 stress at all times, and I only see it spike to 6 or higher if I've made a costly battle mistake or I'm in a drawn-out elite or boss fight; I will plan to use Combat Items like Laudanum and visit easier combats after such an encounter so that I can whittle away at that stress buildup.
I appreciate your perspective, but disagree. Stress doesn't accumulate like a blanket like it did in the first game. Having the ability to reduce 3 stress with an upgrade Jester move is a more calculated move. If the goal is to just keep stress low then you'll constantly be using Bolster, which is a waste. With Inspiring Tune you can surgically deal with stress as needed and only take your hero out of the mix for 1, maybe 2 turns. Difference of opinions, sure, but I think Jester is far and away the better option.
@@LegacyGamingUS A completely fair opinion, but the runs where I didn't have extremely low stress were the runs where I was beset the most by negative relationships. Maybe I need to just work with Jester differently but keeping my heroes around 4 stress isn't ideal for my style of play. My first clear was also with such a style. Though I used hellion's toe-to-toe for the taunt and MaA's guard so he could tank. Add in bolster and a really really nice early 20% max health and 10% max health item drop and he was a full on tank for most of the run.
you can use M@A's upgraded bolster and PD upgraded unce of protection for stress relief as well which are arguably better since your heros dont have to be at 50% or more stress to use which mitigates harmful interactions as well as both abilities being mechanically useful as well with buffs.
You did mention hope being the same thing as flame. But hope is just profile level points. So if you ever see the +250 hope in the journey area of the inn, that’s what it is referring to.
Hey vm appreciated content ty ! Also i dont understand a part you said when a character dies he is replace "at the end" what is the end when and how ? plz
Anyone else missing that tactical depth that the first game had? I know that is EA, but i am sure that the only thing that will be added are more enemies, heroes, trinkets etc, not rpg elements that was so great in dd1. Feels like pandering to greater audience and epic marketing team, but i doubt that casuals will even tuch this one
the plague doctor has a stress heal move when you upgrade once prevention it removes 1 stress from the entire party its not much but i believe its a great move to manage stress when you start playing for the first time and even in higher profile levels
One of the most wrong things is that you have to choose your team before you know the missions they give you and this is a big silly thing. The second one is that you can do 3/4 of the stuff at the inn only like eat food. The third one is the way the leper work, two blind tokens (75 and 50%)at the start of each battle are pointless. The relationship system is too random, being punished cause you critically hit an enemy for example feel dumb.
Stressed heroes will be negative, ask any veteran with PTHD and you'll get the idea that when you're stressed you'll lashing out at anyone insight even they're your allies.
As far as I can tell, you dont have to do anything for the caravan to make items it will do it on its own, it's really hard to notice when it does though
They always come from combat situations so the more you do, the more likely you are to get mastery points. I would also focus on your quests. I always choose routes (at the inn) that reward mastery points.
Kill stuff on the resistance encounter, if you win you get mastery point. Road battle rarely give you mastery point except bosses(ghoul, cannon, antiquarian, woodsman) if you managed to kill them in 5 turns. Region Bosses will give you 2 mastery point
@@LegacyGamingUS I see, it will be a shame if you can not make him playable in the future like an alternate uniform that gives you different kits for every hero.
Yeah I think the game is on strong footing, and despite the DD1 hardcores dumping on the game I think the game is moving in a really cool direction for the future.
@@LegacyGamingUS the only thing I’m worried about is the modding scene. Full 3D models will require a lot more work to build than the sprites of the first game so custom classes and skins are probably going to be less common. I really hope that at some point Martin Seo’s classes get ported/remade.
I wish I knew you shouldn't destroy the librarian's books first... My best run, everyone was inseparable, down the drain. Tears don't help against these hellish forces!
I got so lucky, was in the same situation but survived like 7 aoe-attacks of all 4 members being at deaths door when i realized i was fucked and just started trying to burn the fucker down as fast as possible. Survived through sheer luck, and not skill.
Here after first run.... that game totally destroyed me in first real location and I feel like this game is just hardcore from the start. When I played first Darkest dungeon, you just slowly got better and you can play whole game really safe, while 2nd part feels like you just cant do any mistakes and if you do some, eventually you will die. What I dont get is why you have limited heals on Plague Doctor. That pissed me off. Like there is no chance for slowly healing back at the end of the battle. Other thing is how can I run from the fight? Cuz I felt multiple times that I need to run fast af and either there is no option or I just cant find it.
@@LegacyGamingUS The thing is, Jester is several runs in. People will probably have more success right out the gate if they realize that upgrading one or both of these is probably the first thing they should do at the trainer, period. Because once you get to around 4 stress, people start hating each other.
It is a low chance, additionally, there is a low chance of no battle on a blue line too - so yes, Legacy is 100% wrong about that. Has ruined many ppls 3 or less road battle runs.

My like put the video to 500! Great video and look forward to playing the game.
you can use M@A's upgraded bolster and PD upgraded unce of protection for stress relief as well which are arguably better since your heros dont have to be at 50% or more stress to use which mitigates harmful interactions as well as both abilities being mechanically useful as well with buffs.
You did mention hope being the same thing as flame. But hope is just profile level points. So if you ever see the +250 hope in the journey area of the inn, that’s what it is referring to.
How do you speed up anims? I so wish to know this, because I can't find anything on it.
There are combat items that increase torch as well. Desperate few is not the only way.
Good point, but you really can't rely on those because you never know when you'll get them and when you won't
Stressed heroes will be negative, ask any veteran with PTHD and you'll get the idea that when you're stressed you'll lashing out at anyone insight even they're your allies.
if anyone knows how caravan upgrades works plz speak now because i am going crazy on how to make items with some of its upgrades,
love the vid
As far as I can tell, you dont have to do anything for the caravan to make items it will do it on its own, it's really hard to notice when it does though
I notice one great issue, there Isn't an abomination class, where is my favorite beast boy
You could change your abilities inside a dungeon run in DD1
I do have a question, how do you get mastery points, to me it feels like their random.
Anyone notice that the Hoarder looks a lot like the priest from DD1? Did he lose his church?
It's the caretaker!
Can you unlock the highwayman in jail uniform as a playable character?
Not that I’m aware of
@@LegacyGamingUS I see, it will be a shame if you can not make him playable in the future like an alternate uniform that gives you different kits for every hero.
I have hope for this game come to steam i want play it now :D, and i want to know how mods will work after full relese
Yeah I think the game is on strong footing, and despite the DD1 hardcores dumping on the game I think the game is moving in a really cool direction for the future.
Epic Store its Just EA Only Steam when The Game full Release
@@irpanfauzi1160 Ye i know but still i want play EA :(
@@LegacyGamingUS the only thing I’m worried about is the modding scene. Full 3D models will require a lot more work to build than the sprites of the first game so custom classes and skins are probably going to be less common. I really hope that at some point Martin Seo’s classes get ported/remade.
It says in the FAQ that the game will be in early access for at least 1 year. I couldn't wait, i bought it yesterday 😅
I like the game so far but I could do without driving the stagecoach. Honestly I prefer the system from the 1st game where you click to move.
You can double tap to have the coach auto drive if you really don’t want to
@@conorhermes Yea I know it just seems redundant.
They could make an option to explore inside areas on foot and leave the chariot traverse as its own way of overworld travel.
The warrens theme in the background tho
Good video.
mounTain. T.
There’s a T in the word.
Great tips though!
Yep, I'm aware...I just can't say the word, regional thing
how to flee from any battle???
I just don’t understand. I reached the mountain but the game told me i lost, why?
Here after first run.... that game totally destroyed me in first real location and I feel like this game is just hardcore from the start. When I played first Darkest dungeon, you just slowly got better and you can play whole game really safe, while 2nd part feels like you just cant do any mistakes and if you do some, eventually you will die. What I dont get is why you have limited heals on Plague Doctor. That pissed me off. Like there is no chance for slowly healing back at the end of the battle. Other thing is how can I run from the fight? Cuz I felt multiple times that I need to run fast af and either there is no option or I just cant find it.
Sorry, but one of the "first and easiest" ways of stress removal is either upgrading Plague Doctor's Ounce of Prevention or Man at Arms' Bolster.
Sure, that's true, but when push comes to shove Inspiring Tune, in my opinion, is by far superior.
@@LegacyGamingUS The thing is, Jester is several runs in. People will probably have more success right out the gate if they realize that upgrading one or both of these is probably the first thing they should do at the trainer, period.
Because once you get to around 4 stress, people start hating each other.
0:52 “mowain”
I have a problem saying the word, sorry about that
6:31 it drains your hope
The road battle thing is not true. Literally just ran into a road battle on a solid line, when I was specifically trying to avoid them for a quest
I have never run into a road battle on a solid road, so perhaps it’s just a super low chance
It is a low chance, additionally, there is a low chance of no battle on a blue line too - so yes, Legacy is 100% wrong about that. Has ruined many ppls 3 or less road battle runs.
Why you saying mountain like that bro
Because I have a problem saying the word. Just one of those things I’ve always had a problem saying
@@LegacyGamingUS no disrespect meant, you say it like most of us Brits do
"Brutally Hard" he Says XD
I feel that game is quite short, hope that changes...
It will, it’s in early access
Silly question: I love your accent but can't place it. Specifically not uttering the hard "T" when inside most words for example "mountain" and "important". Seriously no judgement, I quite like it.
I don’t know if it’s an accent or I just have issues with my diction! I’m from Connecticut which is not known for having accents
@@LegacyGamingUS affect then maybe? I've encountered it before. I bet it's a Connecticut thing:) Even the word Connecticut and a few unpronounced consanents thrown in there :)
Loathing and negative relationships are the worst addition to the game. Total garbage. Needless and unfun game mechanics.
am i the only one with a terribly slow stagecoach?
You forgout about dumb quest like "avoid guard tower/hospital" also if you want shrines, but shrine doesnt lead to quest battle or for ex. to guard tower? players are screwed and ffs let us sell those items in shops(nobody likes to litter the road )
"wish I knew" and starts to describe basic mechanics in the game.
Bruh. Useless click bait.
"Hey look you unlock stuff when leveling"
No shit sherlock
Can't even listen. Ts aren't silent.
aight player profile is shit.. i hate it
Why the fck did they change it to a roguelike...
It was rogue-like in this base form, but I get your point it doesn't feel like darkest dungeon, not enough terror or hard-core enemies that could demolish you in the tutorial of not careful, also I haven't seen anything that resembles on foot exploration on specific locations like the previous game.
No Reynauld, no play. Plus Epic exclusive. Nah
I know, isn't epic great!? Better than steam for the developers!
I think Reynauld got killed at the end of DD1 😭 RIP
@@jesuscarreno3237 he sacrificed himself to destroy Chuthlu at the end, what a giga chad, he really pulled out his biggest deus vult, I hope he had a sibling or something, we are missing the medieval crusader all day.
