I can say with confidence that Betta keepers go above and beyond for these little fish.
I can’t explain it but we go completely crazy for these little fish and do everything we can to give them the best life possible. I’m certainly guilty of taking things a bit far, what can I say, I love em.
So with that in mind what’s something that every Betta tank should have? Live plants! And today I’ve gonna give you my top 3 live plants for Betta tanks.
First is Anubias Caladifolia. Most people think of Anubias as being pretty small but the Caladifolia definitely aren’t. This plant get’s really big leaves which are perfect for Bettas to hide under or rest on the top of.
With Anubias you’re gonna attach them to a rock or a piece of driftwood. You can do this with thread or Aquascaping glue and once they get going they’ll spread out. Anubias is also one of the easiest plants to keep in the entire hobby cause they require little to no maintenance and do well under almost any lighting.
John has said it before and I agree, keeping Anubias is almost as easy as keeping plastic plants just don’t expect them to fill up your tank really fast, they grow pretty slow but it’s totally worth it.
Next is the Hygrophila Corymbosa Compact. This is another large leaf plant that super deep green, easy to keep and grows much faster than Anubias. The cool thing about Hygrophila is the plant will send out side shoots that will grow into full plants themselves so you have a plant that’ll reproduce like crazy giving you a bunch of free plants.
Well in all honesty all plants do that but with these a lot of times John will have to cut them back before shipping them out to customers cause he doesn’t want people to take them out of the bag and say wow, these things are out of control.
I mean, I don’t know anyone that would complain about getting extra plants for free but hey, he’s picky, what can I say.
This is a plant that you’ll plant in your substrate closer to the front of the tank cause they’re not gonna get huge but they’ll fill in really nicely.
Like the Anubias the big leaves will give your fish something to explore, it’s super cute to watch.
The last is my personal favorite and it’s actually 2. I originally wanted to just do 3 plants but these 2 are very similar so I just decided to put them together and count them as 1. It’s the Crypt Petchii and Crypt Wendtii.
Like I said these two plants are very similar leaves, it’s the stems, the Petchii is gonna be a taller plant that the leaves will grow all the way up to the top of the tank while the Wedtii will be similar, just not as tall.
Both of these plants are easy to keep and grow really well under good lighting but they don’t require some super expensive high tech light. The light you already have will be fine.
There’s something that’s talked about a lot with Crypts and that’s the fact that they’ll melt when you put them in your tank. I promise you I’m not saying this just because we sell them but this is something we don’t experience often with Crypts from Tropica. I’m not saying it’s never happened I’m just saying it’s rare. I mean look at the tank in our plant room full of Crypts that have been in there for weeks. They don’t look like they’re melting to me.
But here’s the thing, maybe you get some of these or you get Crypts anywhere and this happens to you don’t panic, they’ll bounce back. Just cut them back and leave em alone. Before you know it you’ll have a full plant that looks like these.
So there you go, Anubias Caladifilia, Hygrophila Corymbosa Compact and Crypts, those are in my opinion the best plants for your Betta tank.
Obviously we’d love for you to order these plants from us but if you don’t want too the good thing is they’re available pretty much anywhere so you won’t have any problem finding them.
If you get these plants I promise your Betta will love them and you will too! - Домашні улюбленці та дикі тварини

Lisa my plants will be delivered today. At my home. They are for my work. How should I keep them until tomorrow? Float ‘em in my home tank or leave them as shipped until tomorrow?
I like anbius the most. My crypts melted and I thought they were dead. They were not from you. At the time I knew nothing about planted tanks. I did do research but, somehow I missed the part about crypts coming back. I know better now. Gina Hetlage
👇 you love bettas
Love and adore them ❤
Cause they are the best fish 🐟
❤❤
Some old friends of mine gave me an Anubias Caladiifolia plant in a vase as a birthday present once.
They had heard how terrible I was with plants, either over-drying them or drowning them, or both.😅
So they gave me a plant I wouldn't be able to drown.
He eventually got so big that I split it in half and kept one part in my aquarium, where he loved it.
But all good things had to come to an end and they both died after a couple of years between them.
Fortunately, not by MY hand, but I had, had that plant for 7-9 years, so it still hurt.😢
I look forward to your videos. Because of you and John I know so much about fish keeping and have the happiest finned babies around!
I was just about to shop for some plants in my betta tank, and before you know it, this video pops up! Love the selection Lisa!
Thank you Jacob 🙂
I love those plants for my bettas and fish. I ordered some plants for your website and they’re doing amazing! ❤ Love what you do thanks for everything! See you Thursday.
Thank you so much 🙂
I love Anubius. It’s so easy to keep and very hard to kill! And I agree- C Wendtii is easy to grow as well. Another favorite that my bettas love is Pogostellum octopus- or something like that. It spread through my beta tank like a jungle!
Placed my order this morning, thanks for the inspiration Lisa.
Aaawwww....Thank you Jerry 🙂 You'll love them!
Floating plants with longer root systems seem to win them over too! They seem to love weaving in and out of them at the surface waiting for food.
Love all three (4) choices - thanks Lisa 💕👍
Thanks for watching CJ 😊
Both my past bettas and current paradise fish loved and love my lagenandra red leaves. I guess it's because they're big leaved and make the aquarium darker beneath them. Perfect for lurking beneath👍😁
Oh definitely 🙂
I just recently got some hygrophila corymbosa compacta! I hadn't thought about putting it in with the betta! That's a great idea! 😃
It's definitely one of my favorites 😊
I have always loved bannah lillys for my bettas
I love them too!
@@rootsnwhiskers8351 they are such an underrated plant in my opinion atleast in my country
I have various ferns and a Water Sprite in my Betta tank. My Betta loves exploring and hiding around the plants.
Looks like I might have to revise what plants I'm ordering tomorrow.
Thanks for the video… I don’t know much about tank plants, so I went with the ordinary and boring Amazon sword. It grows just fine and my Betta loves it. If I think about expanding, I’ll definitely look into what you suggested.
Swords are great for bettas 🙂
Plant videos!!! uhh Duh, I'm all over it!!! Thank ya!🤠👋
Thanks for stopping by 🙂
Great video Lisa I really really wish use could ship to the UK because I know you would be able to help me out with my new tank I'm setting up and it's going to be my first planted tank and biggest tank 100g xx
Great video, thx Lisa. And nice tanks by the way.
Thank you so much 🙂
We can all say that lisa is the best❤❤❤
I’ve had good luck with Rotala.
Hi Lisa. Another Great video.😊❤
Thank you Dan!
I think if the crypts are grown submerged before shipping you will have much less chance of the melt back going in your own tank. Still don't give up on the melted crypts they often just take time, but will fully adjust/recover. Take my opinion as just that of course.
my personal fave is the banana plant, always use them in my betta's tank.
If you complain about free extras or larger plants you're why we can't have nice things.
😂
Just ordered them!! Getting them tomorrow
You'll love them 🙂 easy and hardy plants that look great 🙂
@@rootsnwhiskers8351 I’m sure. After all it was you who suggested. I can’t wait. Hated plants. Hated betta. Now I’m switching. These videos work. Thinking salt soon too
Wow! Big step there 🙂 I'm about to dip my toes in it too 😉
I love anubias...but I prefer using plant weights
nice
I love my Bettas
I don’t have betta fish, but I have a lots of different fishes and would love to order some plants for them. I don’t mind getting some new growth on them either.
I love floating plants for my betta tank
Loved this video and a couple of strains I've never had before. Do you ship to Canada yet?
Unfortunately, no 😕
what substarate should i use
I recently discovered Hydrocotyle Tripartita for my bettas. I float it, and it provides a lot of places for a betta to rest right at the surface. I removed my floating betta logs since they started using the plant more. win win.
One thing i dont hear anyone talking about is. Do nitrite and nitrate settle on surfaces like bacteria, or do it floats in the water?
Can you do a new video on how to properly use the old school glass heaters you can get at walmart for 18-25$ the review on there are terrible because i guess no one know how to use them propper have them burning or killing there fish when they have always worked fine for me yes rhey break sometimw but that i think mostly.from people leaving them on while doing water xhange and exposing the heater to air and burning it out breaking them i just dont get it
I've mentioned this before but never done a video on it. Thanks for the suggestion.
Lisa
The ones that care really care. The ones that don't well.......
Actually my betta likes vallisernia he likes to play hide and seek in that vallisernia jungle .
Moss balls for my betta nano tanks…every time!
Why does my beta fish look like it’s eyes are cloudy it’s not in a bowl and is in pretty good condition maybe I just never noticed before but any suggestions would help
How big of leaves does that Anubias get ? Tempted getting it for my puffer tank she loves perching on leaves
Hey Leo. The best example I can give is comparing it to an Amazon sword leaf. They have nice broad leaves. And if you attach it to something closer to the surface, it's a great betta hammock as well 🙂
@@rootsnwhiskers8351 nice yeah that was the plan attach closer to the surface :)
I just have Java Moss and Marimo Moss Balls 😂
A betta is the only fish that I have never kept
You the Beta Mama!
Instantly clicked lol!
😊
I prefer Hygrophila rosae australis but I love all of the hygrophila
👍🏻👍🏻
My favorite plants are the ones I haven't killed... yet 😂
can anyone suggest fishes for 27 gallon tank?
Uncle John please help me 😢😢😢 i don't know how to remove white worms in my oscar tank, i really hate them 😢😢😢
