  • We're singing the shanty that we wrote to welcome G7 leaders, and to pass on the message that we want to see plans and action as well as talk. The piece on the BBC news had over 1M viewers so hope someone was listening. The tune is a traditional one - "A drop of Nelson's blood".
    ----------------------------
    Verse 1
For leaders to meet, wouldn’t do them any harm
For leaders to meet, wouldn’t do them any harm
For leaders to talk, wouldn’t do them any harm
And we’ll all hang on behind
    Chorus
So G7 leaders agree a plan today
You're Not in Cornwall just for a holiday
All of our grand kids will thank you all one day
And we'll all hang on behind.
    Verse 2
A week in Carbis bay, wouldn’t do them any harm
A week in Carbis bay, wouldn’t do them any harm
A Cornish cream tea, wouldn’t do them any harm
And we’ll all hang on behind
    Verse 3
A covid jab for all, wouldn’t do them any harm
A covid jab for all, wouldn’t do them any harm
A shared vaccine plan wouldn’t do them any harm
And we’ll all hang on behind
    Verse 4
A lower carbon world, wouldn’t do them any harm
A lower carbon world, wouldn’t do them any harm
A safer, cleaner world, wouldn’t do them any harm
And we’ll all hang on behind
    Verse 5
Free trade for all wouldn’t do them any harm
Free trade for all wouldn’t do them any harm
A fair share for all wouldn’t do them any harm
And we’ll all roll on behind

Great song & performance! And who can still say shanties are just oldfashioned folklore?

Thanks Gert. Do share away if you can - we're trying to change the world, one sea shanty at a time
