G7 Sea Shanty
Clip of Bryhers Boys singing their G7 themed shanty
#bryhersboys
----------------------------
Verse 1
For leaders to meet, wouldn’t do them any harm
For leaders to meet, wouldn’t do them any harm
For leaders to talk, wouldn’t do them any harm
And we’ll all hang on behind
Chorus
So G7 leaders agree a plan today
You're Not in Cornwall just for a holiday
All of our grand kids will thank you all one day
And we'll all hang on behind.
Verse 2
A week in Carbis bay, wouldn’t do them any harm
A week in Carbis bay, wouldn’t do them any harm
A Cornish cream tea, wouldn’t do them any harm
And we’ll all hang on behind
Verse 3
A covid jab for all, wouldn’t do them any harm
A covid jab for all, wouldn’t do them any harm
A shared vaccine plan wouldn’t do them any harm
And we’ll all hang on behind
Verse 4
A lower carbon world, wouldn’t do them any harm
A lower carbon world, wouldn’t do them any harm
A safer, cleaner world, wouldn’t do them any harm
And we’ll all hang on behind
Verse 5
Free trade for all wouldn’t do them any harm
Free trade for all wouldn’t do them any harm
A fair share for all wouldn’t do them any harm
And we’ll all roll on behind

Recorded remotely during the 2021 lockdown, we decided to shoot a video to go with this lovely tune. Very lucky with the weather at Porthleven
G7 Weekend and Shanty
Переглядів 4443 роки тому
We're singing the shanty that we wrote to welcome G7 leaders, and to pass on the message that we want to see plans and action as well as talk. The piece on the BBC news had over 1M viewers so hope someone was listening. The tune is a traditional one - "A drop of Nelson's blood". Verse 1 For leaders to meet, wouldn’t do them any harm For leaders to meet, wouldn’t do them any harm For leaders to ...

Covid stopped us from taking up our invitation to perform at the 2020 Celtic Gathering in the Isle of Man - so we sent them some video instead. Many thanks to the Morrab museum in Penzance, and Chris Smith for permission to use the images of our Cornish maritime heritage.

Song for Keyworkers

6,000 people watched our 1st Lockdown Video - you mad fools - so we only went and did another one😀 It's based on that great Harry Glasson tune, "Song for Cornwall", but with new words, written by our own Paul Travail! So here it is, our "Song for Keyworkers" - made with heartfelt thanks to everyone who is still getting up every day and making the world go 'round."

Welcome to the first of the Lockdown Sessions. Hope you are all doing OK. We're sure missing singing together - and singing for you!, so in this age of internet wizardry we've put together a new version of one of our favourites, dedicated to all the people who are out there keeping the world turning, whilst we're here at home going slightly bonkers
