Pictures of you is my “on repeat” at the moment But I’m new, I’ve only just found these guys 2 days ago 😅 LOVE these guys! That 60’s / 70’s vibe is magic
As I get older I find much more pleasure in listening to music from like the 70s. Now this song sounds like a song from the 70s only it's not. And I find it so nice people still make music like that nowadays!
The guitar work on this track sounds a lot like George Harrison’s playing on the mid-60s Beatles tracks. Weyes Blood’s vocals honestly sound a lot like Karen Carpenter
I see a lot of people saying it sounds like music from the 70s and I get the reference, but from the moment I heard it I knew almost instinctively it was new music. It sounds so fresh.
No way! Hah. In a similar situation, I was in H&M and it came on and searched the words I could make out and found out what it was called. Now enjoying this great tune back home!.
When you're not around, your people have their way with words And you don’t have to hear the sound to feel the burn Well, I get up and down And very close to people's lives You've got some things you can erase Honey, I’ve got mine I know that you want to be seen And to be heard Oh, to be loved, it's not a crime 😔 Money is the root of the game What you stand to gain But everybody's gonna lose their heads You got the magic smile Makes people turn their heads And take their love and make it burn for you instead Well, I get so inspired And you know just how much that's worth Most people know just what they want, but can't make it work I know that you want to be free And to be wild Oh, to be hugged just like a child 😞 Money is the root of the game The problem with fame Is everyone going to lose their edge
Most likely an early transistor console for some of the tracking, but the tape saturation and drum muting is the real thing you're hearing. Towels and wallets work best! Hysteresis and saturation play a huge part in this sound, mostly from overloading tape.
@@mattportnoyTLV prolly just detuned tom toms. not hard to get the sound if you actually know what sound you want in teh studio. kind of a droll passive aggressive indolent sound, the 1970s plodding preachy "what's the use" illiterate vibe, mommy put lsd in the milk bottle kind of thing. makes me sick.

That 60’s / 70’s vibe is magic
That's a very George Harrison-esque guitar flavouring.
Love when the music can link to many past and present artists. And anyone can created the wonderful playlist. 🙂❤
Kind of a hopeful dread IMO. I can definitely hear that.
Maybe just bc of the slide
Drugdealer + Weyes Blood = YES. YES. YES.

More like the 60's here
Yeah I got into weyes blood because her voice has that 70's quality
I grew up in the 70s and at first thought it was from the 70s. I also love the 70s style drumming.
The guitar work on this track sounds a lot like George Harrison’s playing on the mid-60s Beatles tracks. Weyes Blood’s vocals honestly sound a lot like Karen Carpenter
Such a shame music like this doesnt get the recognition it deserves

That nuanced voice fluctuation in the coda at 3:37 is the icing on the cake.
it happens again at 4:00 with the falsetto voice
Gonna be a good bicycle day
heck yeah dude
classy release date
It's gonna be a good bike year.
Great bike music!
Rock on brother.
The 70's sound slaps
heard this in h&m while waiting for someone, had to type the lyrics quickly in my phone's notepad and searched it when i got home

@@LASTOFTHE80S oh woww hahaha

Love how they snuck “feel the burn” in the lyrics. Weyes Blood is a huge Bernie supporter. 😊
Dude is so great. His Albums just play through all great songs. This is one of my personal faves off the 2nd album. Baltimore at its best!
Is Weyes Blood straight from the 70’s or is that me?
Yes, you are from the 70's. Weyes Blood is from the 2000's. :p
WAAVS
Her voice is so beautiful l
She kinda sounds like Karen Carpenter
Gorgeous. Love it when these two work together.
This is amazing. The tracking, the mixing...those toms are straight up early ‘70’s API or Sphere console.
Most likely an early transistor console for some of the tracking, but the tape saturation and drum muting is the real thing you're hearing. Towels and wallets work best! Hysteresis and saturation play a huge part in this sound, mostly from overloading tape.
IMO It’s got too much separation for tape. And it sounds like subtractive EQ that is too precise for analog.

ok but when was the last time you heard an honest to goodness minute and a half wordless outro with a fadeout in a new song....
Kieran Najita it’s so good
It’s gorgeous
this is a band that grabs your heart by every songs that they make
Reminds me of Steely Dan - Dirty Work ... love this
This song has something magical, the taste of simple things long gone...
A gorgeous song for a cool, rainy night.
Can't stop listening to this amazing song.
My one headphone is working right now, so I’m listening to this. Yeah, maybe I have to stay in some weird positions, but it’s worth it.
This is such a mellow banger.
Should also say "featuring The Lemon Twigs". Their harmonies really perfect this tune.

Drugdealer is hella underrated
Your CD never gonna leave my car

This is like if Without You by Badfinger was about growing old and cynical.
Good to know there's still people out there keepin' it real.
It sounds like a 70s rock relic I would find playing in a music store
...In a good way
Im listening this song in the beach on sunset time belive me it's a lovely vibes 😍😍😍 🌅🌇🌆
this song plays all the time at my work. it sounds like a Carpenter's song

This reminds me of my time in the 70s which was about 20 year before I was born
Sounds like a lost Harrison track
These two should just start a band together
The Lemon Twigs are doing the back vocals.
This song is so good and so weird at the same time. At the beginning it's like 4-4-4-4 and then 8-8-8-8
