The name Drug Dealer won't sit well with a lot of commercial radio programmers. College radio or public radio will play it though. I've been hearing this song on KCRW a few times..
roy jurich You won’t hear it on mass media because of tempo changes, lack of millennial whooping, and other structures that are too sophisticated for the masses.
Money to get mass radio play in America typically runs around 250k- 500k for a full PR campaign. There's no other way to get on the Billboard charts without doing that these days.
Because everyone has their own tastes that change over time and this isnt the 70s so its just not "in" at the moment good music is good music the time era shouldnt be focused on just like there was good and bad music then there is good and bad music now. Focusing on the the era makes you seem full of yourself, just because you dont like what you hear on the radio you flaunt your exquisite music taste and its corny because anyone of any time period could complain about the modern state of music and say what came before was much better and that quality has declined in newer music. Also the radio has always played the worst/basic/catchiest songs so its ignorant to complain that the modern radio doesnt fit your ish.
suddenly my mind has opened and i know you won´t be sad in the day tempted by the morning sun and now i feel like i´m home again i´m home again suddenly my eyes are open and i see you won´t be there for me tempted by the midnight hour and now i feel i´m alone again i´m home again
Heavy Todd Rundgren influence, particularly "Cold Morning Light" with the tempo changes and the theme of realizing you are being abandoned by your lover.
"Suddenly" (feat. Weyes Blood) Suddenly My mind is open And I know You won't be sitting with me Tempted by the morning sun And now I feel Like I'm home again I'm home again I'm home again Suddenly my Eyes are open And I see You won't be there Tempted by the midnight hour And now I feel I'm alone again I'm home again I'm home
He made some great psychedelic music as Run DMT. Specifically, the album 'Dreams' and his EP split with Happy Family. If you want trippy psychedelic with a 70's aesthetic. I'd recommend his album as Salvia Plath. If psychedelic isn't your thing, his album as Silk Rhodes has some great soul slow-burners as well as some dancier tunes, also with a 70's aesthetic.
Wait holy shit I never knew Run DMT, Salvia Plath, AND Silk Rhodes were projects by the same person?!? That guy has a lot of talent, I never would have expected someone to bring something new to so many different styles of music
the way she looks down at the camera and is so cool and calm, her long neck and elegant shoulders. shes sooo coooool not to mention her INCREDIBLE 80S VOICE AND MUSICAL CREATIVITY
My first time hearing this song it has wonderful chord progression and very nice vocals great harmony heard it on a alternative rock station go figure that one big thumbs up 👍
Masterpiece. I can listen to this on repeat. Honestly I haven't found a singer songwriter like her in this era. Have to go back to the 60's 70's to find this kind of talent 💗 edit I shouldn't give weyes blood All the credit. This drug dealer is cool too only just discovering
At first i thought the animals running across the desert were Horses but they turned out to be Sheeps!!!....😂Nice song by the way....I love this Drugdealer and Weyes Blood duo!!...They make good music together....
Besides her obviously amazing voice, how do they get this vocal sound? Somehow they doubled it, but probably only 1 take.. is it just some type of chorus effect? and kind of gritty microphone sound too. Sounds good
i don't mind watching Weyes Blood walking all day
such a babe
nice walking
I would pfrefer to listen to her singing all day, but I am not picky. ;-) Fortunately, this video does not make me choose.
Meh
She’s a babe bro! Tall and beautiful!
very 70s , I dig it. how come we don't hear this on radio ?

My thoughts exactly when I discovered it.
This song always reminds me of my brother who left this world too soon at 19 years old. Love you Nathy.
Wow, love this song, has a Beatles, ElO and Supertramp feel to it during the brass section. Amazing.

got a bit of the Alesi brothers feel to it too, lovely tune.
good songs
the perfect song
Why does Weyes Blood have serious horse girl energy
Mostly I think it's due to her exceedingly long neck.
Equestrianarccism
No hate weyes blood
It's weird to hear Weyes in something so poppy.
how did you feel about titanic rising?

great piece of music, perfect with your morning coffee.
Let's see here: Todd Rundgren, The Beatles, The Carpenters...
the changes in tempo remind me of laura nyro
Hey Sarah, that's a pretty good description of Musical influences in this song. Nice. (Thumbs Up)
Thanks. I suffer from perpetual "spot the influence" syndrome.

Yeah, that's phasing from doubling the same take.

This is my number 1 song for 2018 on SpotifyWrapped!
Watching this on acid... wondering how much of it is real
Music is an audio experience. you put together a playlist, THEN take the acid, and then sit back, close your eyes, and enjoy the trip.
like modern pop with definite Beatles here an there! this is sick
