I love how you really explained and showed your sectioning clipped off at the beginning and then again how it looked after all the foils were in! You’re always so in depth but I really liked the way you did it in this video! thank you for all the awesome tips ❤️
I just want to say, Thankyou so much for your videos! Despite owning a company, owning a salon, traveling and being the girl boss you are, you always have a video for us! I’ve learned so much from you and you have really helped me behind the chair! Keep doing you girl!!
Jessi, you are a Goddess of the Art Of Hair... You are an Artist of Beauty and Hair on a level I've not seen matched, so far, across the world... You have a flowing eye for symmetry and contrast and tones I can't quite match words to the level of artistry you've mastered : your ability to critically assess a client's face& Bone structure; skin tone(s); hair quality, strength, etc; and most importantly, the client's wish (or dream, desire) for their hair- You are obviously gifted at the incredible gift of drawing out, with exceptional skill, the almost "hidden" beauty in each Client- I really could go on... I've Loved your videos and tutorials going on about 2 years :) Thank you for allways bringing a smile to my face to watch the final masterpiece emerge at the end of each video- And for giving me the courage to not give up on feeling beautiful - You've been on my wish list to come to Utah for a "Spa-cation" Hair Salon Treat(ment) :D and treat my 50 year old self to hair as glorious as I feel (for having survived 50 yrs ;) I'm proud of you for following your passion- it's obvious you are very good at what you do; and it's a joy to see those who pursue(as a career/job) what they love to do, most of all... Simply put, you're a genius with hair, And it's a joy to watch an artist like you, work with each new "canvas" :) Thank you!
I love the idea of doing a paint between instead of putting on the root color first!! Also my favorite toner for the kinda smoky blonde/grey hair is using the guy tang my identity Demi line!! I believe it's a 8sm I normally use!
Looks amazing!!! I am going to try this technique on a friend next month. 💜 i am a licensed hairstylist too!! I love shades EQ for toners as well. But I also love the CHI toners. Adds that extra shine. Pravana is my go to for permanent color! Guy tang's color line is amazing too.
Beautiful work. You may want to try Kenra’s color line in the future for silvers. They are gorgeous. Ugly Duckling is my absolute favorite, though, for LIGHT platinum’s and icy looks. They are a flawless brand. I hope you try them out one day if you haven’t already ❤️
I feel like you would really like Framesi and their color line. That’s what we use in my salons and I love it. All of their color semi or permanent are 100% grey coverage. Their fashion colors are OUT OF THIS WORLD TOO!!
I've been looking everywhere for a video like this, where bleach and dye is used. Thank you. I have done bleach caps on my hair, now wanting to lift the ends once more and paint on balayage. Was unsure how.
Also, I would have brought her completely platinum, no weave, straight back to back slices, made it super platinum white roots to end, then go in with Guy Tangs Smokey level 5 silver smoke demi (it will cover yet leave a Smokey shadow root feel that’s not too dense, but has a Smokey translucent black smoke feel of depth) and silver smoke color for her ends. Same effect, more on the fantasy color side, and All Demi so it’s easy to remove later.
The HAIR Lounge by Ashli K, LLC Ashli Not sure which silver smoke you’re referring to, because the darkest level in the Demi Silver Smoke is only a 6, but he also the Dark Shadows color which he says to be about a level 5 but it’s not as pigmented. While I absolutely adore Guy Tang’s midentity line, I’ve tried both (as you mentioned) applying it over pre-lightened hair, and I’ve found the effect doesn’t last very long, it fades pretty quick. Which if you have a dark base to begin with, there will obviously still be a line of demarcation when it grows out and I think that’s something she was trying to avoid in doing this color. I think this hair color she did is meant to last a few months and have that lived in look.
Looks great,if it's not too personal how MUCH did this service cost? I'm struggling on pricing. I don't have an assistant ,so it takes a long time. How long did this take.
Im not her but i do know "money pieces" are several sliced foils in the front with a few weaves behind the sliced foils to create a brightened front frame around the face
at around 3:30 she explains she puts olaplex2 all over the ends to create a barrier for the color, also with the 1b/9t formula (I think that was the last root formula, might've heard it wrong) I think she basically explained that since it only was on the hair for like 3-5 minutes that it mostly just "catches" the tone and not the depth? that's what I understood anyway lol I might be wrong on that piece. she starts explaining that whole part around 9:42 if that helps :)
From the hundreds of videos and comments I’ve seen, you can put a barrier on the ends before rinsing the dark root. You can use conditioner, keratin treatment or olaplex. ONLY 🚿 rinse with cold water. Do not use warm or hot water. Try to keep the blonde ends out off the way when rinsing the dark but with the cold water it should stop it from depositing on the blonde. Also when doing your smudge, make sure you’re not using a lot of product. When you’re combing to blend there shouldn’t be a lot of product on the comb. Hope this helps. These tips are what I’ve received from videos of excellent hairstylist who responded to my questions.
I love them. Rusk is pretty good. It's cheap too. I lived the results. I might have done a melt with a 4na at the roots and a guy Tang silver metallic on the ends or an ashy blue toner
i just started using the Kenra 9VM with a drop of the blue booster and it creates the perfect silver tone! i’m obsessed with it! how much of the 1B did you use?
Kudos for sharing your process. I believe vulnerability is your greatest strength creating greatness! You asked for feed back I hope its ok I share constructive feed back. I would personally always air on the side of protecting the hair so I would never overlap old lightened hair multi times. It seems your process has a lot of over processing of the hair. You mentioned your goal being blended/ balanced with an edge from contrast. Based on video footage it looks as though it could have been better achieved with a different method. I do see blotchy color and banding. The method used seems to double back a lot doing extra work, wasting product and over lightening hair which causes damage. It may be easier to control things doing it differently. ---Highlight hair then apply root color desired, comb down to desired blend, tone root if needed (probably wont need because its so dark) tone ends if you want a few pieces to pop, pull them out before roots or toning. There is almost never a time to double over process lightened hair for more than 5 mins. after root color you could comb lightener with 10 volume to bump up remove any yellow but nothing more. As for toner there is a mix of 9t 9v 9p that achieved a bright amazing silver gray if that's what you wanted...I prefer bright colors so I lean more into 9p but its a preference. I hope you don't mind feed back.... Thank you for the video !
Is your process step by step? If so, it sounds pretty much the same as what she did, aside from toner selection, and the comment you made about putting bleach on processed hair for more than 5 mins. Can you explain your process again? Do you highlight, tone a few pieces for the pop you were talking about, rinse, and then do your base color, or do you do highlights and base color at the same time, like she did? Just want more clarity so I can see the visual better.
This is beautiful!! Besides using a conditioner to prevent transferring what other tips do you have? I just had a client who wanted her roots dark and I used a perm color and it transferred to her blonde ends. The end result was dark roots and grey ends. She loved it, but it wasn’t purposely done. How else would you keep from transferring?
Heavy thick conditioner or even a masque if you're really worried about transfer and spotting. If it turned the ends grey then you need to make sure to wash with cold water at a high pressure. Get that dark off as quickly as possible without opening the cuticle on the ends with hot water. And I prefer to rinse as much out before I start rubbing it.
Apply the end toner first all over after shampooing lightener out, no conditioner. Let process.. rinse out with water only. Put a deep conditioner on the ends, then apply the root color. Blend. Let process. Shampoo out. Then lightly condition. Takes more time, but if you put a conditioner on prior to toning the ends, the cutical will be sealed, & the toner won't penerate as deep or last as long.
You always do such a beautiful job! I love your videos and am personally very grateful that you’re kind enough to share your skills and formulas. You give such a clear and concise explanation for everything you do and it’s hard to find a teacher that does that. My foiling has improved so much since I started watching you and I can’t wait to see more future videos :-)
Im am new to your videos, BUT i must say you have helped a ton!! Unfortunately i am unable to use some of your techniques yet because im still in school and they are focusing us on their ways, bur just for now! Again thanks and i love your videos please keep up the amazing lessons.
Equal parts, in theory, yes, but if she used a different ratio, she's creating her own custom shade. Mixing creates more of a custom color that might look prettier or more to your liking.
This turned out very nice!! My work is cut out for me tomorrow I have a new client wanting highlights and her roots (gray) touched up. Her hair looks like its 3 different colors. I am thankful she wants a lot of highlights!
I have a question! How come you used a permanent on the in between root pieces you didn’t foil but used a demi on the root ones in the foil? I’m a student so i’m curious and trying to learn!
Adriana Raskin hey the reason she used permanent was she wanted the depth that perm will give (tho I personally thinks its achievable with demi) and then used demi on the rest to make sure the rest of the roots blended in with the rooted look the client was going for.. Also I think it was wise for her to use demi bc she said this client likes to change her look very often and removing that perm color might be a pain so at least it isn't to much permanent color! I think she does awesome work but I may hv done it a little different, but I don't know anything about the integrity of her hair...hope this helps and goid luck with school
BeautyByAnnabelle leave the foils in the best you can by folding up the corners together or clipping them and rinse the base color out first then remove foils
Was the base color applied to all of the pieces that had lightener on it as well or was it 50/50? It looked like it was 50:50 but I just want to make sure😊
I want to do silver. My hair is lots of gray with some light reddish blonde from last dye job. Can I just do the gray dye? Or do I have to do some kinda stripping first?
Now I’m exactly this color and I really love it. I bought a toner ( by Wella shinefinity 08/89) to avoid the yellow in my hair. Is it too dark?! I don’t want to become darker I just want to avoid yellow reflections. How can I use it?!
Hi jessi, i love your video. I'm a hairdresser as well and I have a project with the same look. I love how thorough and well explained your video was.Thank you for clearing our some thoughts on how to go about it. I have to share that I am also a Redken Shades EQ user and I wanted to know if 01B+09B was your formula on the last toning application to the blonde on her ends? Please let me know. Oh and I will definitely try the Olivia Garden iblend brush. Thank you!
Jessie, I have question please. I went prematurely grey starting around 18, the grey is fairly blended in the back, but really white right in the front, makes it do hard to dye it, because it grows so fast, therefore it can make it look tacky just in a few weeks, now im in my 50, and really want to do something, i think a good highlight job could help a lot. As at 55 tge grey just starts to make me look older, im really wanting to add some lavendrr to it, fo you think that would be a bad move? And I should just stick with the highlights. I have just always thought highlights grow out so much more graceful then a dye job.
Hi jessi, amazing work as always!!! Question, I know in your previous videos you have been trying out different lighteners and I was wondering which one you used in this video or which one you have found that you like the best from all of the ones you've tried?
Just Redken..all Redken. I don’t think I use any other line. Like. Ever. lol oh I do use like kenra hairsprays and omg their dry shampoo is LIFE. Gorgeous color btw I love this technique thank you for making this to get a good visual of how you do the foils! Wish I could come to one of your classes so I can learn more about extensions ((Oklahoma!!)) come see us!
Is it me, or was there a big light patch in the back of her hair at the end? The rootage looked pretty, but maybe some of that perm color bled onto the ends during rinsing? Maybe holding the ends up during rinsing would help.
I’m needing a fix and I have never gotten a color job I like. The language is tricky and I end up brassy blonde and I even tried my self to color. I followed you videos and if i only had a extra pair of hands. You do beautiful work.
I did one similar yesterday but I couldn’t get the root stretch to come further down. Any tips for that without it being such a harsh line between the dark and light? I have to use permanent color for her gray coverage
I think its this - www.amazon.com/BaBylissPRO-Nano-Titanium-Spring-Curling/dp/B0047WYO1I/ref=sr_1_28_s_it?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1521502133&sr=1-28&keywords=curling%2Biron&th=1.
Have you ever heard of AVEDA color?! It’s AMAZING! And soooo customizable! I would recommend it to every stylist! It’s a natural product and plant based! It does take some getting used to but I would love to see some of your videos while using AVEDA color! This is amazing by the way!!🖤
hello great chanel can u please write the products u put and the times between? second question can u please write alternative brand to redken like loreal? thanks
You do amazing work! I love your videos! I wish you could come to Massachusetts and train me for a weekend! ♥️ and of course do my hair too!!! 😊 seriously tho, have you ever considered doing seminars and traveling all around to different states? Maybe even do your "beauty school series" as a seminar! You are very knowledgeable and talented and you are a great teacher! I really feel like you could make a huge difference in hair stylists' lives and careers!
Im currently traveling once a month to teach blonding & extensions as well as social media! I announce class locations and dates on our instagram!! Thats such a good idea, thank you!!
I love how you really explained and showed your sectioning clipped off at the beginning and then again how it looked after all the foils were in! You’re always so in depth but I really liked the way you did it in this video! thank you for all the awesome tips ❤️

Hey
One of my favorite permanent lines is Matrix SoColor! I love the consistency of it, it’s so easy and it’s very conditioning!!
hannah stanley agreed! Such an easy color line to learn
ive worked with socolor before love it
Do you have a favorite silver toner using matrix colorsync
I love her hair. Turned out beautiful
I love how you adding lightener on after foiling it make sense if you wanna add more hue on the hair ❤️I wanna try it 👍
You're so skilled in your foiling and weaving. Great job
I love the result and the contrast colouring. I want that hair..

You are an amazing colorist and a better teacher! Thank you!
Thank you!!!
Can you give the formula you use to tone? Please. Love your work 💞
I wish I had this video 3 days ago!! I had a client that wanted something similar to this!
Awesome! One of the best highlights videos I've ever seen! You're a master!
Amazing info. So easily put for my inpatient self. Trying to find an easy way to do it myself
Can you do a video on different sectioning tips to create what? For highlights. Like why use one pattern versus another xoxo
Thanks for the idea!! ill add it to my list!
Is it just me or does it look grey then blended to green ?
I don’t see that. Maybe the color of your screen is off?
I feel like you would really like Framesi and their color line. That’s what we use in my salons and I love it. All of their color semi or permanent are 100% grey coverage. Their fashion colors are OUT OF THIS WORLD TOO!!
How do you wash out the dark roots without getting it on the blonde?
Rusk deep shine color is sooooo good

Well done pushing your comfort zone
This looks sooo good! I love it
Love Joico...I usually do demi for the darker and it melts nicely with the lighter hair
I love the color of this blonde! You are great!
Can you do a video on highlight root touch ups? Also explain money pieces a little more in depth
Im not her but i do know "money pieces" are several sliced foils in the front with a few weaves behind the sliced foils to create a brightened front frame around the face
And you might already know this now...lol just realized this was a video from 2yra ago lol
I was just talking with a co worker about how to achieve this look! Thank you for sharing! so helpful!
How do you not stain the blonde when you have such a dark root and combing it out?!
at around 3:30 she explains she puts olaplex2 all over the ends to create a barrier for the color, also with the 1b/9t formula (I think that was the last root formula, might've heard it wrong) I think she basically explained that since it only was on the hair for like 3-5 minutes that it mostly just "catches" the tone and not the depth? that's what I understood anyway lol I might be wrong on that piece. she starts explaining that whole part around 9:42 if that helps :)

Hey girl! Fellow hair dresser here!! About how long should it take to do a full head baby lights?
Hey there! It usually takes anywhere from 2-2.5 hours!!
It came out great
I love them. Rusk is pretty good. It's cheap too. I lived the results. I might have done a melt with a 4na at the roots and a guy Tang silver metallic on the ends or an ashy blue toner
I absolutely love the color. I would love to try it on my short hair if it would look as great as hers does!!
What would you guess her natural base color level is??? Thank you!!! Came out beautiful!!!
i just started using the Kenra 9VM with a drop of the blue booster and it creates the perfect silver tone! i’m obsessed with it! how much of the 1B did you use?
Since this client likes to go back and forth, how are you going to handle getting that permanent color out when she asks for that?
Exactly
Rusk color is amazing
Hi did you use 30 vol for the highlights
Your videos help me out so much, thank you!! Amazing work!! 💕
Can you tell me the exact colors and developer amount you used for the rutage?
For fashion colours like silver i looove wella 10/6 or guy tang !!
Beautiful ! It just takes so long to process I'm used to redken which is sooo fast !
The result is real good. I tried this but I used Pravana hair color!
And I prefer to rinse as much out before I start rubbing it.
wendy brigham Ah yes makes sense. She ended up liking the end result but not everyone will you know. These are great tips! Thank you!!!
I love this! I have learned so much from your videos, thanks!
Toning with a drop of 1b with your 9p and whatever else you use 😍
What a very nice color result😘 May i know what volume for the bleach and permanent color u put? And the tone down as well?
perfect job👍
I’m curious would a 3n 5n toner combo just make a 4n? New stylist here so trying to learn. Thanks!
Equal parts, in theory, yes, but if she used a different ratio, she's creating her own custom shade. Mixing creates more of a custom color that might look prettier or more to your liking.
Janetta Vidano thanks!
Hey what colour did you use for the roots please ?
This turned out very nice!! My work is cut out for me tomorrow I have a new client wanting highlights and her roots (gray) touched up. Her hair looks like its 3 different colors. I am thankful she wants a lot of highlights!
Great video! I would have done it the same way. Makes sense to me.
What is the ratio of 1B to 9T? Was it 39 grams of 9T to 1 gram 1B??
1/4 1B to 3/4 9T!
What is 9T
What were your amounts for the toner 1B/9T? I always love how it looks but I’m afraid I’m going to put too much 1B in
Don't know what she used, but on "BehindtheChair" they mention it's 1/4 1B to 3/4 9T on a platinum. Maybe she got the idea from that site?
I usually just put a drop or 2 in my 9T because of how strong it is!
It’s Redken the brand
Jessi - JZ Styles 1-2 drops is a better call, esp. if hair is porous and/or grabbing.
I did that because i wanted more of a contrast throughout with the permanent and then i used the demi to blend the root out & make it more subtle!
What do you do to your hair!!! I love your color blonde!!
I was wondering the same thing! What are you using for your own hair!
It seemed like the root color made then ends darker at the shampoo bowl? How do you avoid that?
BeautyByAnnabelle I use realllly cold water on my clients in that type of situation. It helps so much
BeautyByAnnabelle leave the foils in the best you can by folding up the corners together or clipping them and rinse the base color out first then remove foils
Was the base color applied to all of the pieces that had lightener on it as well or was it 50/50? It looked like it was 50:50 but I just want to make sure😊
What kind of curling iron is that your using?? Need one
Explain the difference between Ion Absolute Perfection vs Olaplex, as far as what it TRULY DOES?
America Bless God totally different ingredients. Olaplex has an ingredient that rebuilds the hair bonds. Ion perfection does not.
What shaded of colors you used?
Hi jessi, i love your video. I'm a hairdresser as well and I have a project with the same look. I have to share that I am also a Redken Shades EQ user and I wanted to know if 01B+09B was your formula on the last toning application to the blonde on her ends? Please let me know. love the color!
What’s an awesome job! I would love to learn more from you with formulation and techniques! Thank you!
Hi jessi, amazing work as always!!! Question, I know in your previous videos you have been trying out different lighteners and I was wondering which one you used in this video or which one you have found that you like the best from all of the ones you've tried?
My favorite is the schwarzkopf blonde me, scruples power blonde, goldwell silk lift!
How was the grow out on this and lightening it because of the permanent hair dye?
How would you handle a touch up since its permanent dye?
Is it me, or was there a big light patch in the back of her hair at the end? The rootage looked pretty, but maybe some of that perm color bled onto the ends during rinsing? Maybe holding the ends up during rinsing would help.
I loved it!!! ❤💇♀️
I’m needing a fix and I have never gotten a color job I like. The language is tricky and I end up brassy blonde and I even tried my self to color. I followed you videos and if i only had a extra pair of hands. You do beautiful work.
What was the last shades toner on ends plz-I wasn’t sure what u said-it was two colors and u said it may seem scary lol-thank u!
I did one similar yesterday but I couldn’t get the root stretch to come further down. Any tips for that without it being such a harsh line between the dark and light? I have to use permanent color for her gray coverage
Can this hair color be done on gray hair?
What is the ratio of shades eq 3n 6n 6t ? Is it all equal parts? With 20 volume?
Where is this shop located?
Beautiful!🥰
Love all your videos Jessi your amazing, have you tried Affinage? Their 50 shades of grey collection is fab. Very popular line in UK
How much would you typically charge for this?

Have you ever heard of AVEDA color?! It’s AMAZING! And soooo customizable! I would recommend it to every stylist! It’s a natural product and plant based! It does take some getting used to but I would love to see some of your videos while using AVEDA color! This is amazing by the way!!🖤
hello
great chanel
can u please write the products u put and the times between?
second question can u please write alternative brand to redken like loreal?
thanks
What’s the point of a paint between if you’re going to do a root smudge at the end?..
How do you prevent the black from getting absorbed at the ends of the hair when you rinse it?
Rinse with really cold water to avoid color bleed :)
What brush are you using to apply the lightner.?
Framar brushes!!
Mhhh. It looked a tad bit drabby. I can definitely see yellow tones coming through some of the ends.
The blonde looked very Mossy Green to me.
I don’t get why she spent all that time lifting the root to darken it...
