Thanks! Topped up my 2008 Honda CRV with this for the first time! Just over a year ago, took it to mechanic who checked the system and topped it off, this was MUCH less expensive, and that mechanic went out of business which is why I looked for an option I could try myself. I initially tried right after getting home from buying it, but the car was hot, and the gauge showed in the RED. Did research, saw that's normal if compressor is not kicking in. So, waited until morning. It was at low end of green with compressor running. Saw elsewhere that Honda vehicles are very touchy about being even a little bit low or a little bit high on refrigerant, so cautiously added a little bit at a time to get into the middle of the green, which only took 2 or 3 10-second "fills" to get there. Probably have plenty left over for next time it needs it. So far, so good, getting into the hot car, turning the a/c on, and having it blow nice cold air again is awesome! Kit was $40 including tax, at Walmart. Small price to pay for what might last a whole year. The mechanic had charged me only $80 a year ago, which wasn't bad, and is why I'm upset he closed up shop. Still, $40 to fix it myself with more left over, is even better ;)
Words can’t fully express how grateful I am for this video. I just did this procedure on my 2008 Honda CR-V. I’ve been sweating for the past few weeks. (The gauge was on 0 by the way.) I followed your directions and cold air finally came out of the vents. Thanks again.
Just as easy as you said it would be. We have a 2014 Honda CR-Z and the port was in pretty much the same location. Also, your comment about where "in the green" the needle should be is spot-on. When I started, the gauge read at the bottom of the green, but the instructions with the can said at current ambient temp it should be closer to the top of the green. It took the whole can to get it there, and it took a few minutes. Thanks for the video!
I received a coupon in the mail from a popular mechanic’s shop for $20 off A/C recharge so I called to ask how much the price is and he quoted me $200 without the coupon, $180 with it! What a rip off! Then my brother told me that all I had to do was research whether the fluid went into the high or low gauge under the hood and he showed me. Said he’d do it for me. But now that I know it’s low pressure, I don’t even need my brothers help. This is crazy simple! I cannot believe how simple most car issue fixes are compared to the “labor” costs of a mechanic! 🤦🏻♀️geeze….
This was SUPER helpful!!! I didn't use AC PRO product but "Big Chill" from O'Reilly. Even in December S. Florida requires AC & this video got mine back to COOL ❄❄❄ THANK YOU!!!
That was a great video... the instructions were clear and simple and easy to follow. Next time add a disclaimer stating that you are not a mechanic. That way people won't ask such technical questions about how this does this, and how that does that.
My 2007 Honda CRV is blowing hot air. I hooked up the AC Pro can without putting any refrigerant inside of my vehicle. And the PSI is reading at 145. What does that mean if the PSI is past the red and too high? What are my next steps to get my AC blowing cold air?
Hi there, I have a 2021 Honda CRV, and I noticed that on the coldest setting, the AC works but any other temperature, it blasts warm air. Would this be a sign of refrigerant being needed or is there a possibly different problem?
Nice! I have a 2009 Honda CRV (Glacier Blue) so everything looks the same. After you are finished, if there is refrigerant left in the can I don't think anyone wants to unscrew the trigger/guage top!!
do not fill above 35 to be safe. The gauge only reads "low pressure." There is no way you are going to know the high pressure without having the full A/C gauge. It is ALWAYS safe to recharge "under" than "over."
It depends what the outside temp is in Florida when it’s 80 to 85 deg you should be filled to 55psi 35 psi you would be blowing cool but not cold read directions and don’t just make stuff up and you will do better in life
That usually means there is a problem with the A/C compressor and you need to take it to a mechanic. They mention that in this video: ua-cam.com/video/THuGWOmWRCA/v-deo.html
i had a hard time putting mine on. My connecter would leak when adding. I put in on as best could. Im using the right can ust doesn't seem to want to work.
Please make a revision, there are two different A/C Pro's. The 2018 Honda CR-V has a new standard port. Just don't grab one off the shelf. Have the clerk look it up. The new standard port is a bit smaller. Update: 06/19/20, the newer cars take 1234yf freon. The older take 134A. I don't know when they changed to the newer freon but I will tell you that u will get a sticker price shock. Its about ten time more expensive and highly explosive.
you are right. my honda 2017 crv a/c not cool now. I bought a bottle from Amazon and will arrive soon. I try to use my friend 's gauge to measure if the pressure is low. the 134A connector does not fit my car. I am not sure if 1234yf connector also different from 134A. I wish the ordered one will make my a/c works again.
What if I added refrigerant and it only reached a little of 30 this morning and this afternoon it dropped to just right below the 30..in the 20 range. What could be the issue?
I saw a video where a guy did as you advised but AC still blew warm ....he asked someone to rev the engine to 2500 rpms ...and saw that the gauge went down to zero ...soooo while his friend rev'd the engine he added more freon until dial was in the green ...he claimed AC was good to go after that.... any thoughts on that technique ??
Very helpful, quick and to the point. It would have been nice to see him actually filling it and turning the can every so often like he instructs, but as he instructs this the video is just him screwing the can on (which takes too long, cut this short and show actually filling it please) and then it jumps to the end.
Hi professor, I have a Chevy Cruze 2011 LTZ. My AC isn’t cold enough, I bought this AC-PRO to recharge my car. I did everything, turned the engine on, ac on, connected the gauge on the low pressure, but then the needle is in the green! So why my ac isn’t cold enough? What should I do? Thank you
Interesting. It takes tools just to be able to get to the spark plugs on my vehicle, so finding the low pressure A/C service port would be challenge, but I’ll look for it and see if Napa has this stuff in stock.
Spark plugs have nothing to do, for that you need to get inside the motor and unscrew. This is literally locating the "L" valve cap clearly visible in the engine bay without opening or using tools or anything. Ridiculously simple. Not like spark plugs.

The gauge is at 30 at the beginning and at the end...
All the experienced mechanics i.e. Scotty Kilmer, Ericthecarguy, All say DON'T lose the cap ... It's there for a reason. You can do an easy search on Google or Amazon and might find some
Hi. So I find myself having to recharge the AC every few days or so. When I charge the gauge to around the 45 area, the air is still not that cold and a few days later the pressure reading is back to 10. Is there a way I can fix this?
Yes, leak f refrigerant. Likely requires a professional to locate leak and fix. It may be possible replace all parts of system yourself, then charge, there are UA-cam videos to do this. But you have to be confident with gauges and tools, and do your research, for example I reevaluate you have to purge system of air before adding refrigerant, which requires a vacuum pump. Auto zone will loan these
Do not trust these kits to tell you how much refrigerant to add. The correct pressure will depend on the outside temperature (and humidity) AND the particular vehicle system design. For example, at 86F, the 2009 CRV Honda Service Manual specifies 30 psi as the correct pressure while my Mazda 2010 MX5 Service Manual specifies 20 psi. Both are R134a systems.
MrBulletpoints Anytime. Hey I want to take an oppritunity to thank you for your consistent watching and leaving comments on my videos. It really makes it all worth it to read friends comments...Thank you.
I think you are supposed to stop it first before you remove it but I don't think t would hurt to leave it running. In other words, I'm not sure about that.
I filled AC units on cars, how come you never showed the end result where you left it, was it left at the beginning of the green that showed ? If so you should say so, you should also STATE THAT THERE'S A AC COMPRESSOR POUNDS IF PRESSURE FOR AC UNIT ALL TOGETHER, MOST VEHICLE'S ARE 2 LBS ABOUT, SOME PUT 32 OUNCES. ITS ON THE HOOD OR RADIATOR AND THERE'S A STICKER TO WARN YOU, THIS CAN CAUSE MORE DAMAGE THAN NOT, FOR INSTANCE, IS THERE LUBRICATION IN IT ALONG WITH DIE TO DETECT FOR LEAKS IN O-RINGS, CHEAP TO BUY O-RINGS TO REPLACE THEM YOURSELF, THE TOOL IS CHEAP ALSO. ITS CHEAPER THAN REPLACING AC COMPRESSOR OR CONDENSER AND THE DRYER, VERY WEIRD ON HOW IT WORKS, THIS WORKS ON MOST CARS, HONDA'S HAVE MANY ISSUES AND SURPRISINGLY THERE'S NO RECALL SINCE EVERYONE LET'S GO IN WEEKS OF NEW OR COULD LAST A LIFETIME, BUT THAT'S 1 OUT OF A MILLION, EVERY PERSON I KNOW THAT HAS THIS PUMP HAD IT LOCK UP AND BURN BELT WHICH IS BAD, THEY SELL A BYPASS PULLEY FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE AC UNIT BELONGS. CHEAP COST TO PUT THERE. BEST TO BUY R134A WITH LUBE AND DIE IN IT, THEN USE A BLACK LIGHT TO CHECK FOR LEAKS, MOST LEAKS ARE EASILY FIXABLE, SOME ARE HARDER, LIKE IF UNDER THE DASHBOARD AND THAT'S WHERE THE WATER DRIPS FROM, THE AC UNIT OF IT SELF CAN COST ON A CRV OF $800 TO $1500 TO FIX AND REPLACE, I KNOW THAT'S REPLACING THE COMPRESSOR, NOT SURE IF NEW OR REMANUFACTURED NOW, YOU CAN SAVE MONEY ON REMAN BUT FOR A BIT MORE, YOU CAN GET VRAND NEW COMPRESSORS, THAT ALSO COMES FILLED WITH R134A NOW AND USUALLY CHECKED FOR ANY LEAKS, THAT'S A GOOD TO GREAT MECHANIC FOR THE MOST PART, SOME WON'T CHECK AT ALL, THEN THEY GET YOU AGAIN. SO ASK THE QUESTIONS IF THERE CHECKING FOR LEAKS WITH THE DIE THAT'S IN A CAN STYLE, A GARAGE BUYS A BIG BOTTLE THAT CAN DO ABOUT 20 CARS FOR THE MOST PART, THAT DON'T HAVE DIE IN IT. SO ALWAYS ASK. ALSO ON THE WARRANTY COMPRESSOR, THEY WON'T HONOR IT IF YOU DON'T HAVE A GARAGE PUT IT IN AND ALSO REPLACING THE OTHER COMPONENTS. IT CAN CAUSE DAMAGES TO THE COMPRESSOR. SOME PLACES SELL THE O-RING SEALS WITH THE OTHER PARTS FOR A BIT MORE MONEY, MOST SKIP IT BECAUSE MOST ARE STILL GOOD BESIDES O-RINGS BUT ALWAYS RECOMMENDED BECAUSE OF ANY METAL SHAVINGS THAT CAN CAUSE DAMAGES, JUST LIKE CHANGING OIL IN YOUR ENGINE, IF YOU SEE METAL IN THE OIL, THEN CHECK OIL FILTER REAL GOOD, FILTER WILL CATCH MORE METALS IF SOMETHING IS LETTING GO, COULD BE THE SIGNS OF A TIMING CHAIN OR BAD PISTON RINGS, IT CAN BE ANY MOVING PART IN THE ENGINE. RACING TEAMS ARE ALWAYS DOING THIS ON THERE HI END ENGINE'S. GOOD LUCK. ALSO IF DOING YOURSELF, SOME AUTO PLACES RENT THE TOOLS TO VACUUM THE SYSTEM OUT THE PROPER WAY, I'VE NEVER DONE IT BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE A BIG BOTTLE. NOT SURE IF WORKS ON SMALLER CANS, YOU WON'T BUY A BIG BOTTLE, NOT UNLESS YOU PLAN ON GOING INTO BUSINESS WITH IT. COST ABOUT $300 WAS $90 AT ONE POINT BUT MOST LIKELY HIGHER, I HAVEN'T KNOWN ANYONE TO BUY ONE LATELY. SO READ UP BEFORE DAMAGING YOUR ENTIRE SYSTEM IF YOU TRY TO DO THINGS, I'VE REPLACED A AC COMPRESSOR THAT WAS USED ON A FORD, IT WAS CLEAN, NO DIRT OR GREASE, I BOLTED LINE UP TO IT AND THEN PLUGGED IT IN. YES THE GASES WENT INTO THE AIR THAT WAS VERY LITTLE. BUT I SEEN THEM AT BONE YARDS CUT THE LINES TO HEAR THEM HISS OUT THE FREON NOW, NOT GREAT FOR ENVIRONMENT. NOT MY BUSINESS. CHEMICALS ARE IN EVERYTHING, SO THESE CLIMATE FEARS THAT BENEFIT FROM LOTS OF THING'S, THEY CAN'T SURVIVE IF THEY WENT FULL GREEN. WON'T EVER HAPPEN AND CAN'T. THEY WILL STILL TAKE THERE HIGH END VACATIONS OVERSEAS AT SOME RESORT. JET AIRPLANE GOT THEM THERE AND BACK. NO WAY TO KEEP A CATALYST CONVERTERS ON THOSE LIKE CARS TO KEEP POLLUTION WAY DOWN. MOTORCYCLES ARE VERY HIGH WITH BOATS AND YACHTS, WHY ? NO CATALYST CONVERTERS AT ALL ON THEM. WHO OWNS THEM, HOLLYWOOD FREAKS ALONG WITH PEOPLE IN CONGRESS THAT WANTS THE GREEN NEW BILL, BARACK HUSSAIN OBAMA WAS SHOWN SOMEWHERE WATER SKIING AND NO CATS ON THAT BOAT. SO IT'S OKAY FOR THEM BUT NOT FOR OTHERS.
DYI and save $100.00s, 1 local says $500.00 replacement of all, another says $185, add 2-3 gallons of refrigerant, when the car only handles 3/4 a gallon. Mechanic crooks
Was your AC blowing any air, or was it just not working because I have a 03 CRV as well and my AC works only when it wants to.. and most times it doesn't work at all.

What's wrong. I can't get the hose onto the low pressure port of my '18 crv. It just won't go on and I know I have the right port.
Bought it, said it was at 83? So obviously AC not working due to lack of Freon. Wish I knew a way to check it before dropping $60
If it reads in the red before you try to refill it what does that mean the condenser is bad or something?

My AC isn’t cold enough, I bought this AC-PRO to recharge my car.

So why my ac isn’t cold enough?

I don't think it's possible to over fill it. Just add as much as it will take.

Seek mental help please this guy showed you how to top off freon don't know what that has to do with everything you're talkin about

Don't get the cheap shit. AC pro has a much longer tube and it's WORTH IT.
It has a rules
shake before use
Great video, thank you
Accrecharge shouldn’t cost more than 40-50 bucks
Well done.
DYI and save $100.00s, 1 local says $500.00 replacement of all, another says $185, add 2-3 gallons of refrigerant, when the car only handles 3/4 a gallon. Mechanic crooks
This literally doesn’t work for the 2018 Honda Civic I’m pissed...
Your car is too new to have to be refilling it. U need to vheck for leaks
@@Atomdanuke What about a 2014 CRV? My A/C works, just not as cold as it used to be.
@@aussiesandtrails same here!
Did not help 🤦🏽♂️I have a 03 Honda maybe that’s why
Was your AC blowing any air, or was it just not working because I have a 03 CRV as well and my AC works only when it wants to.. and most times it doesn't work at all.
