My wife and I moved to Morelia, Michoacan a year and a half ago. It's been the best decision we could have made. My wife is Mexican. The lifestyle is relaxing, and the people are wonderful. We've seen no criminal activity. The cost of living is very affordable. I think we've scored BIG!
My parents took me to the US 20 years ago. I’m a father now and my wife and I took the decision to go back to Mexico. We moved three months ago and we are loving it. We live close to bilingual private schools, so we make sure our children learn English and Spanish.
Hi coud you please share what part of Mexico you live in and what the names of the Private schools are? I am considering moving , I am 68 and alone and a retired teacher. I would like to help teach ex pat children if there is a need. Thank you
My husband and I moved from the US to Campeche this year. We could not be happier. The people are so kind and family oriented. It is tranquil here and we feel extremely safe. It took some hard work and commitment to get our residency and buy our home but I would do it all over again. I highly recommend it for anyone thinking about it.

These videos are great but no one ever talks about the financial aspect. In other words, do you keep your bank account in the States to have all your salary/ investment/pension/SS, etc., deposited? Do you then just do a bank transfer every month for what you need in Mexico? I assume you have to pay U.S. income taxes as normal every year? Do you have to pay a Mexican income tax?
Most people who live in Mexico end up opening a bank account in México Although you could just withdraw the amount you need every month to live. And the only time you pay taxes in México is when you generate an income in MX

Great presentation! Are there volunteer opportunities for people who may want to give back to Playa? What are the needs? Also, what are the local churches, temples, etc. for worship?
Yes - there are a lot of charities that you can join. There are a lot of different churches as well. I don’t know them all but if you Google a type of religion and church in Playa you’ll get some results 😊
La Paz is running out of water, you only have it for three hours a day, and they keep building houses. The people are angry at the mayor who doesn’t care, I guess he’d rather get the payoff from the developers.
Fantastic video. Lots of great and helpful information. Thank you! Can I ask, why Playa? Why not Merida or SMA? I'm just curious as I plan on retiring to Mexico next year and SMA is probably my most favorite. I do plan on visiting Merida as a retirement possibility.
Hi Jeff. I was curious how you keep keep the air circulating in your home when your not there? I know it can be hot and humid and mold can take over. Maybe just a good subject in general since I haven’t found info. from others on it.
Jeff said he had all the paperwork for IMSS Insurance. We are a retired couple in our 60's in good health like Jeff and we are trying to get on IMSS. We have 4-year temporary residency in Playa Del Carmen Mexico. We do not speak Spanish. My question is, how do we get the paperwork ready to enroll in IMSS in Playa Del Carmen. I understant it would be 14,000 pesos for each of us and we are ok with that. We are U.S. citizens and need help from a facilitator to help us enroll in IMSS. JEFF, who did your IMSS Paperwork? We live in Playa Del Carmen like you do. Any suggestions or help will he greatly appreciated. Thanks.
