    Great video… doing the same to my Bravo III right now. Nice to learn all of the tips and tricks. A few minutes into the video, I figured out that you sound like Ron White! I was imagining you with a cigar and a glass of scotch getting ready to tell a story about your ex-wife and a boat..:

    +1 on the water pickup hose. I just changed mine and in 50 years of working on cars, motorcycles and boats, at least with the limited access on my boat, it was the most frustrating job I've ever done. The bolts for the internal cover took for ever to undo 30 degrees of turn at a time and wrestling to get the wrench repositioned on the head) and then getting them back in fighting against the stiff large hose on the inside tedious beyond belief. all while in an extremely uncomfortable position. All that for what would be a 15 minute job with decent access. I'm working on my shift bellow tomorrow, hope that goes more smoothly after watching your video. Many of the tough things on there Mercruiser units could have been avoided with only a slight design modification, but I guess they gave little thought to repairs and maintenance.

      yes ive had to replace them before and its no fun, and some boats definitely make it worse with little to no room to get in and reach what ya need to , sounds like a ratchet wrench could have helped lol, good luck with your project and thanks for the comment , thanks for watching Vassmotorsports and hope ya check out some of my other videos sometime

      @@Vassmotorsports Alas so close a fit, no room for a ratchet to fit onto the bolt head on my Rinker. The plastic insert on the shift cable was also a challenge, had to make a special tool with a piece of pipe to get that out, then had to pull the cable back up into the boat to cut the remains of it off the cable so it could finally be pulled out. Thanks for the video, while they certainly know how to make things unnecessarily challenging, the extra knowledge definitely makes it easier when you know what you are up against and can avoid making mistakes that would make things even worse.

    Man what a great video wish you was in Florida I’d bring my Rinker/bravo three to ya.
    I’ve done the complete trans one assembly got my outdrive completely redone and now ready to enjoy but looks like the outdrive oil line is leaking lime a siv…😢 drive is full and the reservoir is empty and saw a little puddle tonight until I lowered the drive and it all poured out😮. Uuugh supposed take her to TN in three weeks, anyway awesome stuff man keep it up for us!!

      thank you very much and good luck with your project, yes these drives are very heavy ,atleast to me it is plus if it has an extended swim platform it makes it a real pain but the cherry picker does the trick. ive even had to get creative before by adding my engine support brace to the bottom of the picker and hooked on the hook so it can reach under the long platforms ,thanks for watching Vassmotorsports and hope ya check out some of my other videos sometime ,im always trying to get my little channel to grow

    Amazing Video! Thanks so very much man! I'm shopping for the Bellows Kit for my Mercruiser Bravo 3 on my Cobalt 220. Local Marina is a no, and Amazon Kits seem sketchy with reviews and low low prices. Do you have a suggestion on where to pick up a full kit that would be legit?

    • @Vassmotorsports
      @Vassmotorsports  6 місяців тому +1

      thanks so much for that. and thanks for watching Vassmotorsports and hope ya check out some of my other videos, I always buy the cheap kits on Ebay for $50 or less and always have good luck with them over the years and do all my boats and others for few people that can talk me into working on their stuff also haha (hardly have time for customers) the bearings even work fine and last many years and we use our boats alot , the weak link i feel with these kits is the shift bellow ,so i purchase a good Quicksilver seperately and can get around $30 or sometimes less without the clamps and just use clamps from the kit or the originals if clean and damage free. I ve bought the $300 kits before and dont see much difference,

    my top cable (throttle) came loose far away from home, I stopped at a marina and they hooked it back up, made it home, and then it didn't want to go into forward or reverse. A mechanic told me that I need to replace the shift cable, but after he adjusted it, it started working again. On my last trip out it done ok, doesn't seem like it's getting full throttle. so my question is do I need to replace it or not ??? thanks... Great video too, It's a 2000 Rinker fiesta vee 270

    • @Vassmotorsports
      @Vassmotorsports  9 місяців тому +1

      Well thanks for watching Vassmotorsports, but that is a hard one to answer especially without seeing the boat in person, the throttle cable and shift cables have nothing to do with each other , if it's tight and tough to move shifter handle then try pushing in the round button at bottom (to put into neutral) and see if it's easier, if it is one of the shift cables are bad ,and even tho lower is more common to go bad it could be either and would have to disconnect at manifold and try again to see if changes , as far as not feeling like it's going as fast sounds more like the throttle cable itself or throttle/shifter handle mechanism , where did top cable come loose ? On throttle assembly or engine side ? Again sorry and hard to say without seeing it , hope this helps some

    • @Vassmotorsports
      @Vassmotorsports  9 місяців тому

      @@jimsr.4019 ok. You can put throttle all the way forward and see if throttle inside carb or throttle body plate is opening all the way against the stop , just to see if that has anything to do with the low power feeling

    There's a guy on UA-cam that replaced the bellows on alpha sterndrive without taking the sterndrive off, do you reckon that would work on bravo?ua-cam.com/video/jJVfDbhwkwU/v-deo.html

    • @Vassmotorsports
      @Vassmotorsports  2 роки тому +3

      No it won't work on either. Drive has to come off to do the u-joint bellow. No other way to get it over the shaft. He must have only replaced exhaust or shift bellow. Impossible to do all 3 with drive on

    • @WSLAXtest
      @WSLAXtest 2 роки тому +1

      The drive must come off to set the inner ring .
