Hello Michel, first of all, thank you and congratulate you for the excellent video you made. I am disassembling the same motor leg and I find that the reverse does not enter. My question is the following: in what position should the piece that fits the piece at the end of the cable be, I don't know if I'm clear, I hope you understand me. thank you and waiting for your comment
@@AngieAuletMona Thanks for watching, any update on your project? The shift slide mechanism plays a huge role in the overall operation and performance of shift system. Have you properly connected shift cable into shift slide and secured screw and safety wire? If shift cable is not installed properly into and secured into shift slide mechanism, the slide mechanism will have a difficult time shifting in-and-out or back-and-forth inside upper unit aluminum housing where it lives when upper and lower unit are connected.
I have a random question, on the top of the motor, on the shift plate at timestamp 5:39 The cable closest to you, (the one that goes to the throttle and shifter.) hello how to correctly adjust the gear shift cable when I push the lever forwards the engine stops and backwards also please need help I can't find anyone who gives a good video on the subject if we have this problem
I have a similar issue but only into reverse. I am pretty sure the problem is the intermediate shift shaft being bent. Which is causing more drag when trying to shift which in turn causes the shift linkage to pivot and engage the shift interrupt switch. You might take a look at that intermediate shaft.
Have a question for you. I just got everything reinstalled and back after replacing bellows and shift cable. I am running into the issue of the part that's holding the shift cable is going too far and coming off the little plastic straw guide. This make its impossible for me to go into reverse because I guess it ends up wonky and won't slide back on the guide. Any idea why?
Good morning ☕️ any update? Are you referring to an issue inside bell housing with shift cable or on top of inboard where shift cable connects to housing?
@DIYwithMichaelBorders It was inside the bell housing. I decided it was the part I was using. It was an off brand part that was supposed to be a replacement. I ran into a bad part issue earlier during my rebuild. The shift cable bellow that I ordered was off brand, the small hole was so tight that it ripped before I got the shift cable through it. I got the quilsilver one and it was so easy. I ended up ordering the shift cable assembly from quiksilver and swapping everything out. The roller was disengaging from the shift cable slide so that the lower unit would not go into gear it was stuck on neutral.
