Bravo Stern Drive Cone Clutch Reassembly and Drive Explanation

I recently bought an older Cobalt boat with a Mercruiser Bravo 3 Sterndrive. The boat has a shifting problem where it goes easily into reverse but fights to get into forward. I started at the helm and worked through the cables and I'm now in the cone drive. There are only a few videos of the Bravo upper drive and I haven't found one that's very clear on the cone drive.
