Interesting comments about the controller. That's the first time I've heard much about that component. I have seen people who bought electric lawn mowers, and who have learned first hand the shortfall of the batteries when they have cycled the charge/discharge/recharge often over a period of time. The first year, they love the mower, the second year not so much. They run out of juice quicker and quicker, and require more electricity use to keep them powered up. I'm hoping ebikes are better in this regard.
"With my XX years in Ebikes..." How can you say so many wrong things if you really know so much about it. I ride cargo ebike with 16,000 miles on it. I have two batteries from new and they still give me about 45 miles each on a charge. The center motor running smooth still, and it can be rebuild for a fraction of the price of a new one. I know that you can be unlucky and get a monday bike or that a poorly maintained bike won't last very long, but three years on a motor must mean that you sell very poor quality. Have a good day.
That's great to hear about your ebike! I believe ebike batteries, motors, and controllers can last for 10 plus years absolutely. Both hub drive and mid drive ebikes, but I'm trying to create a general expectation for electric bikes. We have countless examples of our electric bikes going for 15,000 miles plus and batteries and all components still working like new. Each riders experience with their ebike will be different based on their weight, where they ride, how they ride, how they store their ebike and batteries, and the conditions their battery and ebike are kept in. All of these aspects will also impact the lifespan of their ebike and the components. I'm excited to hear about your experience, it will encourage more riders to jump into ebike riding!
