Kevin, I changed my clutch and DMF over the weekend using the Haynes manual and this video. This video was is worth its weight in gold, it was by far more useful than the Haynes manual and was the reason I was able to complete the job. It took me 2 days to finish - I'm in awe that you do this as your day job, and film it and complete the job in 4 hours, unbelievable. Thank you so much sir!
Thanks man I'm a 65 year old cancer patient I watched your video and it inspired me to have a go at my own V50 so clear you are a very efficient worker good on you regards Vince
HI Kevin. I want to say that thanks to your video I was able to change the clutch on my Volvo V50. I did it with my son and thanks to your enormous generosity I was able to save €1100. I'm from Spain and the quotes for changing that clutch here were €1300-€1500. I don't understand why, since the Volvo V50 clutch is the same as any other. It only has a dual-mass flywheel, that's all. The kit is a little more expensive than a normal one. But the work is the same. So with my tools and your help we could do it ourselves.
This guy is like superman or something, how easy he makes it look to put back the gearbox, I'm in awe!😮 Took me a chain to an engine jack over the car to first raise the gearbox upclose, then about 2381 tries before it connected properly. Man you are a god!
Thank you. I was able to replace the flywheel and clutch (and CV axle, while I was at it) on my 2005 V50 2.0d with the help of this video alone. Cheers! 🍻🙂
With the help of your videos i did my first clutch on a 2013 Citroen C3 , turned out it wasn't just the clutch it was also the gearbox so it was a gearbox of times 2 :)))) , them did a 2002 Nissan Primestar again watched one of your videos on the Vivaro but this one was the 1,9 so had some differences but still not fun at all :))) I just wanted to say thank you for doing this videos it shows that with methodical work even a person like me who by profession is a registered nurse can tackle the job.
Very nice video! My volvo v50 doesn't want to shift anymore when the car is on. When I turn the cat off, I shifts again. Does that mean that my clutch needs to be replaced? Thank you in advance
When you're working on the older vehicles Kevin, how do you cope with the rust and road dirt dropping into your eyes? Every time I'm under my old Forester I wear safety specs, as it always manages to drop a load on to me.
Hai fatto un lavoro eccezionale, sia come meccanica che come ripresa cinematografica,in condizioni difficili.I miei complimenti.Permettiminuna domanda, che pasta è quella rossa che dai su alberino e sede delle viti? grazie
Hi kevin ! I'm from Sweden so I'm not very good at English so I'll give you a disc via Google translate, I'm going to change the clutch on a Volvo 2.0 diesel -08 the same job as you do in the movie, here in Sweden it's mentioned that you need a special tool to clamp the release with but I have the same tool you have to center the release with, so wondering is it just to clamp the pressure plate crosswise? Very good videos you make, I also watched when you changed a Ford Fusien 1.6l and it was very helpful.
hello kevin. i want to ask you a question. when i change the clutch . i cant put the gearbox back on. i really struggle alot. like i keep on push the gearbox towards the clutch but it never sits . could you please tell me why doesnt the gearbox sit on the clutch. like do i do something wrong
I wouldn’t really be able to say why. But from my POV I just keep at it until it finds the spline and falls in place. Now that might be a bit risky for some due to the heavy weight of the box.
@@WMCS hmm. ye thats true aswell. it might brake the spline because of the heavyness of the box. i just can never put the box bymyself back on when i change the clutch. i can only do it with 2 people. anyways thank you for your reply good luck!
Great video and attention to detail. What is the black paste you put on the back of the slave/throw out bearing. Is that a gasket sealant? Keep up the good work
@WMCS do you have the product name really like the self depenser style of the one you used? Some serious skills you have to do these jobs in four hours and also film the work while your at it! Your footage is a huge help and knowledge to the DIY community. Many thanks
From what I’ve seen the direct torque from engine to gearbox causes excessive judder from first gear moving forward. Impact to the gearbox is like a hammering action on the lay shaft bearing. I wouldn’t do it if it was my motor.
You've seen hundreds of clutches/gearboxes I would trust your opinion. If you shop around you can get a dual mass flywheel for couple hundred pounds. Better than a broken gearbox. Thanks for the advice Kevin. Keep up the good work. Good source of learning watching your channel, I miss the old days of mk2 vauxhall cavaliers and the ridiculously easy clutch changes 🤣
hi Kevin, why do you never use the tool for SAC Clutch ? You have a risk of tiggering the wearing compensation system. Espacialy on LUK and SACHS. Many thanks for your video ! BR JC
Hi mr Stig Kev, did uou learn your trade in a main dealer/independent? What made you decide to do clutches instead of general repairs or diagnostics? Great work as always 🚘👍🏼
That’s correct. Through college then to be more specific in a Land Rover Academy for 3 years then working for Land Rover dealership up to level 3 Tech over many years
Lovely cars I’d love one Whoever uses Williams appreciates good craftsmanship. Would you ever consider opening a garage or do you love the road. Be safe as always.

Super arbeit. Alles gute kevin.😊
Excellent video - also filming was perfectly done!
excellent video - exemplary for all UA-camrs... thank you so much
Super great work. I love your style of work.
Very much respect from Japan.
Please be careful for eyes.
Excellent work, not so easy to work on the Volvo. 👍
Nice work as always Kevin 😊
That was amazing😮
I have the same V50, it's all so tight/compressed, not much space to work.
Badass move just hoisting it up by hand
Volvo is a little harder to work with, but once you know how to do it, it's only a matter of time! good job!
Oh yes for sure.
Good job.I'm sending greetings from Poland
Estupendo trabajo y muy buen video. ❤
Greetings from Poland !
Howdy 🍻
What is the part in 21:12 called, which is looking like a Z?
At this place my car is oily, but i dont know what it called
Did you ever find out? Mine is covered in brake/clutch fluid too!
I changed the same clutch on volvo v 50 and now sometimes do clack when I go full power ,do you what could be ?
Amazing job. Thanks for sharing this great video.
Have you done a 2013 V40 D4 yet? I particularly enjoyed the ball joint pinch bolts that seize into the alloy hubs...
A murky morning for you and it looks as though that Volvo could do with some new suspension on it thanks for the video stay safe
At a typical garage, what cost would I be looking at for a clutch replacement including labour do you know?
Thnak you , i will try this

Yes. Pressure plate more precisely
@WMCS is it also possible that the clutch needs to be bleeded?
Great job!!👍
Mr. Kevin, in which gear of the milwaukee impact wrench are you tightening the wheel hub (the big screw)
When you're working on the older vehicles Kevin, how do you cope with the rust and road dirt dropping into your eyes? Every time I'm under my old Forester I wear safety specs, as it always manages to drop a load on to me.
I tend to position myself always away from the Power tools’ location.

What is the red lubricating you took on the threads on the gearbox?
Red rubber grease.
Great video and attention to detail. What is the black paste you put on the back of the slave/throw out bearing. Is that a gasket sealant? Keep up the good work
Yes that’s correct. It’s oil high temp gasket sealant. The concentric doesn’t come with a seal.

How much did it cost to replace the clutch ?
Guilherme um mestre
Thankyou.

Great job.which this guy was my neighbour
Hi Kevin what's your thoughts on a solid flywheel conversion? Do you think it is too harsh on the gearbox and poor driving experience?
From what I’ve seen the direct torque from engine to gearbox causes excessive judder from first gear moving forward.
Impact to the gearbox is like a hammering action on the lay shaft bearing.
I wouldn’t do it if it was my motor.

Non stop clutch session. A bit like

@@WMCS Perfectly I breathe clutch, I live clutch 💪
thank you
Hi Kev, what was your total time for the job from landing to leaving ?
Exactly 4 hrs ..
@@WMCS your reply is much appreciated kev, cheers 👍

I like being on the road. But indoor and garage is becoming more and more appealing
Hello Kevin, I like your video keep it up but it would be better if you write the autoname in the descriptions instead of the date.
Auto name is Volvo
@@WMCS Yes, I know, but I mean all of her videos in general.
Çok iyi
Oil in the turbo tube? Uh-oh.
That’s not a turbo pipe .. it’s intercooler 😆😁
