Well the contract makes this movie series a trilogy at least. I dont wanna see it be 12 movies like star wars. But I do ultimately see this being a 4-5 part movie series. I say it is guaranteed to be at least a 3 part series because Colin Farrell said his contract said he will be in 3 movies. Now that could mean the penguin isn't in movie 4+ or just will be a 3 part movie series. But the slow build up from the 1 movie makes me believe it will be 4. Usually at the start and end of every superhero series the protagonist comes and goes at the end. Batman just started his career. And still has very little character development to Bruce.
That’s true but the thing is this version of Batman hasn’t been around long. He’s still making a name for himself. A lot of people aren’t even aware of him or even know about him yet. The Penguin meet him once in the movie, I doubt he’s even thinking about Batman

Uh, the movie established it was literally the first time he ever showed up. The Riddler (who they mention) was the one causing all the real trouble in the city, pretty sure flooding half of Gotham overshadows one dude that 99% of the cast never encountered.
I've been saying that It would be cool if Batman actually does make an appearance....but we don't know it's him. With Matt Reeves finally letting us see the detective side of Batman on the big screen, this would be a great opportunity to see Batman's "Matches Malone" persona. Batman going undercover wearing disguises was some of the most compelling moments of Batman TAS. Imagine Oz's crew bring in a guy they think works for(or has information on) Sophia. They beat him up and interrogate him, then Oz has them take the guy's wallet and we see "Matches Malone" on his ID, to which Oz jokes "hey hey, fellas! Take it easy...leave em alone(Malone) huh hahahaha", *Oz puts a cigar in his mouth* "Jesus...hey, Matches....ya got a light? 😂". Then after Oz reveals some info in passing during a conversation, the lights cut out, they scramble to get them back on and see all of Oz's guys are knocked out and Matches is gone with a card left on one of his thugs *...thanks for the info*
Personally I haven't been too concerned with trying to figure out if the lack of batman in this series affects the continuity at all. The series so far is downright amazing standing on it's own. I hope they hold off for as long as they can story wise on introducing the masked hero element and really expand on this side of Gotham.
@@jsuisdetropNot really, crime isn’t going to change without Bruce working on himself and improving structure of life. Also it’s only been at least 3 months, nothing big has been going on this last episode.
@Tre.Anthony2025-g4z that doesn't work either since making him sit out a Gotham in chaos also seems bizarre. They really did shoot themselves in the foot with The Batman's second climax. Can't say he's helping elsewhere since that would be public and brought up characters. The mob war isn't even quiet enough to go under his radar.
Agreed. He can easily be mentioned in a news item on TV or a quick glimpse of a headline in a news article. Even a henchman can mention how scared he might be to ever have to run into The Batman. Also, these characters use vulgar dialogue. What's will happen when they're in the sequel movie? We're not getting an R-rated Batman sequel, so the choice to write this series like a Scorsese film was ill-informed. When Sophia and Oz pop up in the next film, they won't be speaking like they do on the series.
True but you have to understand that this is early Batman. Not everyone is even aware of his existence or see him as a threat right now. You should watch the long Halloween. It shows how much the top crime leaders didn’t even care about Batman until he went for them personally.
@Bleeblooplu There is no way they aren't aware of his existence. He is literally seen on the news, saving people from the flood at the end of the movie. He openly saved the mayor from a group of armed gunmen moments before that. While they might not have encountered him personally, it's a stretch to believe they haven't at least heard about him.
It’s a city cursed with crime , it’s not like he can be everywhere at once I’m sure he’s probably handling bigger threats or penguin just never caught his attention till the end like what the show implies
I hope they explain his missing in the sequel cause although i love the penguin series, it almost doesn't feel like a story contained within batman universe. He should be on his toes at every big crime and murder. Oh alberto falcone was murdered? There he is looking for clues. Oh the entire freakin falcone family gets gassed to death? Batman should be showing up looking for clues. Oh a new drug called "bliss" is popular? Lets investigate it. Its just not in his character to ignore these sort of things. And now even if they do explain his missing, the show is written as if batman never existed. I recall just one dialogue between vic and oz, thats all. No bat signal? No newspaper? No dialogues between mobs and low level thugs? No nothing. Its super weird.
*Smallville:* No tights, no flights. *The Penguin:* No bats, no cats. And that's how it should be. This series is about the evolution of a villain. We'll get plenty of the Dark Knight in The Batman 2.
I'm more shocked they didn't even bring him up when they got their mushroom delivery service running like not a single one was worried about getting caught by "The Bat" nor any of them were captured and beaten and mentioned that [insert goon name] was caught by the bat.
Batman doesn´t have split personality, he is not going through a "more Bruce phase". Batman is a one man operation and the series takes place during a few months, so he could just be hitting muggers and rapist every night. Crime has gone up 40% according to the news, so the city is a busy place.
Hes not saying he has a split personality. Just that bruce used to think only being batman and beating up criminals was good for the city, but now realizes actually helping people with his wealth can be good too
I assumed he took a step back and dedicated himself to being Bruce Wayne for a while to help the people of Gotham via Wayne industries rather a Batman.
Gotham is an entire city, Bruce is one man. I figured it pretty realistic he just never shows up. He's got bigger fish to fry than some rich peoples war
I’m picturing the final scene: Penguin’s soaking up his win from the gang war, totally basking in it. Then-bam!-a shadowy figure steps in. Batman’s silhouette looms (no need to show Robert Pattinson), and just as it all sinks in, Penguin mutters, 'Oh...fuck!' Fade to black. Now *that* would be epic!
Oh that would be awful! A lazy mcu style "get excited for next product " post credit scene ending. Hopefully, they will do better and break out Batman for a true appearance in the finale.
When you consider how the drama in The Penguin (2024) and the events involve like 99% gangsters, then you can very easily realize why the batman didn't step-in, because criminals committing crime on other criminals just isn't the batman's priority.
I think this is the best version of the Batman universe, and I really believe they’re going to do everything right they’re not interested in making money, they wanna make a faithful adaptation of the dark Knight himself and his world
The Crown Point explosion is something I would have expected Batman to be at. And at the end of The Penguin, the final scene with the bat symbol confused me because what threat is there now? Oz is under an alibi made by the political higher ups.
Nah Matt Reeves and even the Penguin showrunner are incredibly embarrassed of the bigger Batman stuff and expressed how it will not be used in this universe. They're like Todd Phillips where they want to write their more grounded original stories and simply wear the Batman property skin to get people to watch while also expressing frustration that Batman fans tune in to see Batman stuff. It's a real oxymoron.
Batman is missing from Gotham because Bruce Wayne is too busy trying to save his dying city. Right now, Gotham needs Bruce more than it needs Batman. And if that leaves Batman unable to respond to the new turmoil breaking out within the Falcone crime family, then that’s a problem he’ll just have to deal with in The Batman 2
you know i think its more possible that bruce is just recovering from the injuries he suffered from the final battle of the batman since its already said matt reeves want this to be GROUNDED REALISTIC UNIVERSE so its highly possible that this batman has no INSANE PLOT ARMOR and bruce is just recovering from the injuries he suffered from the final battle of the batman
Man I agree with your statement. Mat Reeves writing of his Universe does tell the realistic values of physical and psychological well being of each characters, you could tell it with the latest episode of The Penguin (EP7) that the two BOSS fought their bums to tiredness and the old boss happen to have a health complication, indicating that this tackles "real life". Kinda like when a head is strucked or banged in every action sequence in the scene results to an accurate physiological effect which is concussion. The way I understood Batman through the years is that he is the pinnacle of Man or human Peak in both Physical and Mental attributes, man's considered the Worlds Greatest Detective a genius level freak and can handle Superman with his superhuman abilities. However, I am looking forward to Mr. Reeves unique portrayal of Batman/Bruce Wayne.

I disagree, I think she doesn't need to be there. I don't think it adds any value to the story they are trying to tell with Sophia, and I feel like Catwoman's story arc in the Batman was all we needed for her character at least for a little while.

Nah they just don’t have the rights to put him in the show. That’s all it is lol. People are just literally having hypothetical conversations about nothing lol
@Jacintojudio3478 thats was true for the CW, the rights thing . But not for this , Reeves said they discussed having batman in the show but he felt like it shifted the focus away from the penguin TOO Much so HE WASN'T WRITTEN INTO THE SCRIPT. Reeves said he wants every MOVIE and SHOW being in THE TITLE CHARACTERS POV so batman wasn't written into the show because of this
Man just imagine it:when Penguin and Sofia are in a warehouse full of armed goons about to kill each-other and then the theme starts and you see the Batmobile smashing in and the Bat jumping out.
I feel like they should have ended The Batman with the impression to criminals that Batman was killed. That would make Penguins behavior make sense. He should be on edge thinking Batman may come after him any moment but he doesn’t seem to be.
It's because batman Tv licensing is broken That's why he can't appear in live action except in films or alt media like animation or games and merch etc Maybe that's no longer the case, but as a huge nerd I'll bet my holy baterangs!
Or, maybe, now hear me out here, maybe there's a different reason Batman only ever appears as Bruce Wayne and never doing anything Batmanish and never ever ever never in costume in any live action show; not a Titans nor a Gotham nor a Pennyworth nor any Arrowverse nor even in Penguin all for the same single reason. Maybe it's because Warner hasn't had the rights to a TV Batman since the 1966 Batman show? Crazy I know, but imo being able to make all the Batman movies and animated shows Warner cares to greenlight but by hook or by crook just not being able to secure back the ding dang live action TV rights for a Batman show might be why they don't just put out a straight up Batman show and instead make all these shows all about Batman characters but without having any Batman in any of them. Just a thought.

For those wondering the real reason why the Batman is not in the Penguin show it’s simply due to licensing. Warner does not own the LIVE ACTION tv rights to Batman. They do own the animated rights but they specifically do not own the Live action rights. Those rights were sold off to ABC years ago post 60’s Batman then ABC was bought by you guessed it but Disney, who apply to renew the license every single time it might expire just to spite the competition. The very few times we’ve seen a Live action tv Batman was the end of Gotham for 1 shot (negotiations took place for that to happen) and a thrown away suit (just the suit) in a flash forward scene of a potential future in some tv show like Flash or Smallville. This is the reason why every Batman Live action appearance has been Bruce Wayne and not Bruce in the costume. They are allowed Bruce Wayne but not allowed to show Batman. They are allowed to reference Batman sometimes needing to ask permission from ABC like with the “Fuck Batman” line from Robin in Titans. Warner has the live action tv rights to every other single Batman character but Batman which is the reason why Gotham, Pennyworth, Titans and the Penguin exist since Warner can use every single other character but Batman.
@ he mostly appeared as Bruce Wayne in that show. His scenes are shot in the dark with the camera never lingering on his face. I will admit though that Titansi showed a lot of by Batman when compared to other his other live action tv appearances.
@@fritzy3057first off it was Gunn who tried to dispel it by just saying that the Batman live action TV rights between …”Disney/Fox and a trio of mergers…”. Are just false. So somewhere in that statement there is a false. But then he does not elaborate any further one of the most elaborate copyright cases ever. What he said proves absolutely nothing of real value other than that’s what DC wants to be put out there. The truth could lie somewhere in the middle of owning and not owning it at all. For example they might own the rights but not the right to distribute. Disney/Fox might not own any of it at all but there are still 3 merger companies that might own some piece of it. All these possible outcomes make the statement that it is stuck in a limbo with Fox, Disney and bunch of other Companies false yeah. But it doesn’t dispel that it could be stuck in limbo with just Fox, or just Disney or just…etc. Gunn’s tweet only dispels that it is stuck in Limbo with Disney/Fox and other mergers when they could just be fighting one or two other parties party over this. Otherwise why in god’s name would you rip off Batman with the Arrow revamp or make an entire Batman prequel show but have no Batman in it. Not admitting who owns the live action tv rights may even be a stipulation in the contract leaving us in the dark. Until something like a legal document is released that explains in detail the entirety case of the case and its optics we will never know.
So an entire crime family gets taken out, right after Sofia gets out of jail, a new drug comes out in the city and a mob war breaks out and most recently a big explosion happens while one mob family leader escapes prison yet he doesn’t even do anything? Makes no sense.
Batman is fear to criminals and hope to the citizens of gotham the bat family is proof of this. He uses fear but is a symbol of hope to many and that things will be better and they can be.
Batman is a symbol of hope that uses fear. Even scarecrow in the arkham games knows this and directly tries to destroy that aspect of batman and effectively make him pointless. "You see gotham, there is no savior, no more hope, no more batman." That's a literal quote from a villain. Batman is a symbol of hope and vengeance. The bat symbol literally gives peace to the citizens of gotham and makes criminals live in fear. Even bales batman was symbol of hope dude was the literal symbol of resistance.

batman be like "not my show, not my problems"
I mean, after an entire city block explodes, it is a pretty big stretch to have him not take notice.
Lmaoo I literally said “so where’s Batman??”
Yeah when they blew up Crown Point I was like where is Batman at? 😂
I find damn funny how no one mentions the bat guy beating everyone including the penguin
Uh, the movie established it was literally the first time he ever showed up. The Riddler (who they mention) was the one causing all the real trouble in the city, pretty sure flooding half of Gotham overshadows one dude that 99% of the cast never encountered.
Missed the chance to open the intro with Jack Nicolsons Joker saying "And where is The Batman?"
After this week’s ep I immediately asked my brother “where the fuck is Bruce?”😂
😂". Then after Oz reveals some info in passing during a conversation, the lights cut out, they scramble to get them back on and see all of Oz's guys are knocked out and Matches is gone with a card left on one of his thugs
*...thanks for the info*
That would break the internet 😂💯
He’s busy with the Justice League
I'm just picturing batman working at a local soup kitchen
So you have no clue. Gotcha…
All of them and it’s annoying how many CIVS think they’re Hollywood or more the celebrities like Dang don’t they ever appreciate the Civilians ?
Personally I haven't been too concerned with trying to figure out if the lack of batman in this series affects the continuity at all. The series so far is downright amazing standing on it's own. I hope they hold off for as long as they can story wise on introducing the masked hero element and really expand on this side of Gotham.
Batman not appearing when a section of gotham getting bombed is just bizarre atp.
It's not just Batman's absence that's frustrating. It's also the fact that the show doesn't even acknowledge his existence. It's bizarre.
Right. I have no problem whatsoever with Batman not appearing in the show, but for nobody to even mention him makes no sense at all.
It's called The Penguin, not The Batman. The whole point of the show is to be about Oz, not Batman.
TRUTH SPOKEN!!!
It doesn’t make sense and this damages the PENGUIN show for not referencing or explaining why BATS isn’t around
Yep, as a standalone show this is a 10/10. As a BATMAN universe show, it's trash.
He's busy with detective work, you know, trying to figure out Wonder Woman's address so he knows where to send flowers.
*Smallville:* No tights, no flights.
*The Penguin:* No bats, no cats.
And that's how it should be. This series is about the evolution of a villain. We'll get plenty of the Dark Knight in The Batman 2.
Doesn't work the same if they're doing high profile crimes and aren't attracting the bat after knowing he's in this world
Memo to self: Learn the difference between "night" and "knight".
After ep7, ep8 should start with Batman investigating or monitoring what happened. Unavoidable, unless he is out of town.
Doubt they gonna cast Robert Pattinson for that
@TrueRaps maybe Keaton 🫠
If Batman in the continuity has been missing long term, the penguin show would’ve atleast left a newspaper-esq headline Easter egg.
I'm more shocked they didn't even bring him up when they got their mushroom delivery service running like not a single one was worried about getting caught by "The Bat" nor any of them were captured and beaten and mentioned that [insert goon name] was caught by the bat.
HE'S AT HOME, WASHING HIS TIGHTS!
The answer I was searching for!
Batman is doing homework on the ops
He's at the greeting card store looking for clues to the next crime.
Just that bruce used to think only being batman and beating up criminals was good for the city, but now realizes actually helping people with his wealth can be good too
He's recovering from that buckshot to the chest I imagine.
Lol this version of the character looks more Tony Sorprano than Penguin
He looks way better than danny de vitos penguin
Knowing this Batman, he’s probably stewing in depression somewhere 😂
Would love a Riddler series done in the vein of The Blacklist
there is a riddler comic set in this universe known as riddler year one
I assumed he took a step back and dedicated himself to being Bruce Wayne for a while to help the people of Gotham via Wayne industries rather a Batman.
I hope we get to see more Bruce Wayne the first one was more batman centered but I hope they also focus on his Bruce Wayne persona.
Gotham is an entire city, Bruce is one man. I figured it pretty realistic he just never shows up. He's got bigger fish to fry than some rich peoples war
The city is the size of fucking New York. Idk why so many people wonder why Batman isn’t involved in a singular gang war.
Awesome! I thought this voice was familiar. Love your content Stupendous!!
👏🏾👏🏾
In addition we hear the Vengence theme
Oh that would be awful! A lazy mcu style "get excited for next product " post credit scene ending. Hopefully, they will do better and break out Batman for a true appearance in the finale.
@@aurahoneydew9607 we know Rob is not there so they need to do something like in the shadow if you want to see batman
The ending was actually better than that, imo...
People when a show about the Penguin is about the Penguin:
Batman is gearing up. Gotta have those toys
When you consider how the drama in The Penguin (2024) and the events involve like 99% gangsters, then you can very easily realize why the batman didn't step-in, because criminals committing crime on other criminals just isn't the batman's priority.
I didn't know he does DC on here also…
He's running around as a Twilight Vampire by Day and by Night he is Twilight Batman
If Batman shows up at the end of the penguin it could just be Batman not Robert Pattinson but it’s still a bit away
I think this is the best version of the Batman universe, and I really believe they’re going to do everything right they’re not interested in making money, they wanna make a faithful adaptation of the dark Knight himself and his world
They didn't want to pay Robert Pattinson to make an appearance. Case solved.
The Crown Point explosion is something I would have expected Batman to be at. And at the end of The Penguin, the final scene with the bat symbol confused me because what threat is there now? Oz is under an alibi made by the political higher ups.
I think he's off training with the Ras al ghul and the league of shadows. Or there something bigger happening.
@@aurahoneydew9607 i heard that too. However its very easy to ground the league and even ras al ghul.
Doubt that tbh. There is way too much chaos happening in Gotham for him to just “leave” even if it is for better training.
It’s funny cos Ras Al Ghul was never Bruce’s mentor in the comics. Christopher Nolan made that up.
Maybe it’s because most of the series takes place during the day and the bat only comes out at night
How do you know that?
@Watch the show, look at the promotional materials like the newspapers, and things creators and show runners have said.
No not even that, that would have at least gotten mentioned by characters given how public the helping would be for either of his halves.
He's at home washing his tights
you know i think its more possible that bruce is just recovering from the injuries he suffered from the final battle of the batman since its already said matt reeves want this to be GROUNDED REALISTIC UNIVERSE so its highly possible that this batman has no INSANE PLOT ARMOR and bruce is just recovering from the injuries he suffered from the final battle of the batman
Reeves unique portrayal of Batman/Bruce Wayne.
at the end of the movie he rides around bikes with catwoman looking healthy af
Nah they just don’t have the rights to put Batman in the show lol it’s not that deep

If I'm being honest Batman isn't the only one who should appear in penguin finale. It should be Catwoman the half sister of Sophia. I won't lie her family was crap. What they did to her wasn't forgivable, but her father did to her mother. there isn't it's not too late. for her
I disagree, I think she doesn't need to be there. I don't think it adds any value to the story they are trying to tell with Sophia, and I feel like Catwoman's story arc in the Batman was all we needed for her character at least for a little while.
Batman was at home playing minecraft listening to the cure and eating nutella and jelly sandwiches
Cause batman is busy doing something else , like maybe saving people and helping them after events of the batman one lol also batman even says in openings of the batman he says" i cant be every where" like what are we talking about lol
But after the east side just got blown the hell up in episode 7, wouldn't it make sense that batman would at least investigate?? I don't like this. They're gonna inadvertently make him a terrible Batman. And I really liked what Rob did with the character in The Batman.
He should be on edge thinking Batman may come after him any moment but he doesn’t seem to be.
same pfp though
That would ruin the nice arc batman goes through though
Tbh he’s probably still recovering . This takes place a week or two after the events of the Batman . Dude took ALOT of punishment
It's because batman Tv licensing is broken
That's why he can't appear in live action except in films or alt media like animation or games and merch etc
Maybe that's no longer the case, but as a huge nerd I'll bet my holy baterangs!
(this is why titans only had Bruce Wayne and not batman )

I’m happy that the Batman isn’t in this show because the show is good without him.

Wasn't he in the very last episode of Gotham though? Nothing would suprise me with WB though...

Batman is hanging out with his Justice League friends
But didn't Batman appear in Titans????
@ he mostly appeared as Bruce Wayne in that show. His scenes are shot in the dark with the camera never lingering on his face.
I will admit though that Titansi showed a lot of by Batman when compared to other his other live action tv appearances.
@spacetoastjam7656 Even the head of DC said that wasn't true. DC still owns his rights
@@spacetoastjam7656 Literally James Gunn is the head of DC. If anyone knows, then it'd be him
He also said in the movie “I can’t be everywhere” when he was having his signal monologue at the beginning of the movie
TLDR: DC doesn't have the rights to Batman on a TV show. Hints of him, yes. But a full on Batman, no.
why
DC has the rights but Fox didn't have no wonder Gotham series didn't show batman coz DC didn't allow Fox to use batman
So an entire crime family gets taken out, right after Sofia gets out of jail, a new drug comes out in the city and a mob war breaks out and most recently a big explosion happens while one mob family leader escapes prison yet he doesn’t even do anything? Makes no sense.
This is why i dislike Patterson's Batman. Batman is fear and not a symbol of hope. HOPE is SUPERMAN. FEAR is BATMAN
He’ll become that you’ll see
Batman is fear to criminals and hope to the citizens of gotham the bat family is proof of this.
You don’t understand Batman..
Except you forget that superman doesn't exist in the batman universe. Plus I dont see you complaining about superman copying batmans tone in man of steel
The batman, just letting the penguin lower down the mobsters so he can step in afterwards.
Enjoyed this. Much love.💪🏾💙
I chalked his absence up to the fact that he was beat the hell up by the end of The Batman. He probably needed at least a month to heal.
Either way I’m in this for the long haul. I can’t wait to see where this story goes as it’s extreme creative genius!
Everyone cannot lie to themselves . ...You know you needed this video
Since he wasn't the Bruce Wayne we're all familiar with & he was neglecting the Wayne business in the first film, I feel like he's probably busy putting an effort into finally being Bruce Wayne & doing Bruce Wayne stuff during this Penguin series. Imo, that would be a solid explanation.
In case you do not know...Batman tried some drops and could not stop...Now he walks like a Zombie in San Francisco.
I reckon the explosion in the recent episode will be the start of The Batman 2.
He was offworld with the Justice League, battling Darkseid.
