Don't worry so much about triggering us. We learn more about ourselves when we are triggered and people who trigger us are some of our greatest teachers. You're providing so much value 💙
I bought it about a month ago and have been reading it. It’s a great book and will take you deep if you allow yourself to be vulnerable to follow the lessons. It’s so good to have someone like Connor advocating and giving men the tools they need to find their healthy masculine embodiment. With all the bullshit redpill shit in the last few years, there is a lot of promise with his message
The thing that helps me as a man that has avoidant tendencies: learning to be open with safe people, trying new things (salsa dancing, focusing on a sport) and being consistent with getting together with a friend group. People, people, people
On men’s issues: I’ve been studying loneliness in depth since my cousin took his life. Men kill themselves in much greater numbers than women. The difference I’m seeing is the depth of loneliness women cannot understand as they won’t “allow themselves to reach that low” It’s much easier for a woman to get some form of attention. Same reason as homelessness differences. Problem here is most help you can get is women. Nothing against them, But I’ve seen it personally That some of these social workers / doctors/ psychologists DO NOT UNDERSTAND The level of, the depth of a man’s loneliness.
What about deeper issues such as bipolar and BPD. Maybe a future episode on how a more serious diagnosis affects a marriage. Im a husband and am currently getting help, but i have put my wife through a lot over the years
I suffer from Alexithymia for sure. Grew up in a neglectful and abusive family then joined the navy when I was 17 and spent 23 years in SEAL Teams which made me a gold medalist at not feeling. After I retired i realized how F’d up I was, In therapy and workshops where they asked how we felt an emotion somatically in our body… I just didn’t feel anything at all in my body. 2 years ago I did a psychedelic retreat in Mexico and took up serious meditation and experienced about 2 months of extreme derealization.. it was brutal. Being around my wife and kids but feeling like none of it was real was not a fun time
I thoroughly enjoy your content. I'm a survivor of a traumatic combat experience. I can't express the desperation I experienced. We lost soldiers and even when they returned home; we continued to loose them. I've struggled for years to gain back and I have survived by learning to give back. I need to find a way to help more men. I got a degree in behavior and I have worked successfully in the mental field. I have many people; mostly men coming for help. Any suggestions would help
Write a book of your life, start a UA-cam channel, to tell your story. Brother, I cannot begin to understand what you feel if it’s not put out there. Your story can/will help others. You can be an example of the person who has, or is, overcome the difficulties.
The issue isn’t that men have these, it’s that people dont care that we struggle from mental health. Like i have ptsd from surviving a near fatal car crash and i get severe anxiety attacks and people see that as weakness cuz as a man you’re just supposed to suck it up. Im sure any man reading this who struggles with anxiety or panic attacks can relate that you need someone to talk to but everyone you know is just like man up
@@jackdeniston6150 I think she was just wondering if he was able to help. Anyhoo Edith, this channel is called "Mantalks", so it's obviously tailored more towards men. Just google or check youtube for derealisation if you want to learn more.
wow, 40 years later a YT channel diagnoses my state. Thanks man.

Well said
The concept of being able to distinguish more than two or three emotions is hard to wrap my head around.
Just purchased Men's Work, looking forward to reading it. Really appreciate your work, Connor.

I do enjoy your talks on here. I loved the Men’s Work book. You’ve been very massive in my life. I am very grateful. Thanks a lot.
Thanks man, appreciate the comment and really glad that my work has supported you. More to come!

Dysthymia… I’ve just been diagnosed

Linus had the blanket, Pigpen had the cloud of dust:) Great vid!
Right! Thanks, been a while since I watched

Funny that you mentioned wild turkeys . The man I know is dealing with this is in Türkiye and I don’t know how to help him
Now I know why I always related to Pigpen 😝

I gave up talking, I just write stuff down now. Works way better, paper understands everything.
I think women struggle with derealisation as well, are you willing to help women as well?
Women have help everywhere, always, for everything. Find it.

If I lower the bar, it allows more people to become ‘functional.’
