Michael and Jaby, I think that there may be something wrong with me...I LOVE watching you cry together. You have such comfort and trust in your friendship.😂
Gladys Maria Knight (born May 28, 1944) is an American singer. Knight recorded hits through the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s with her family group Gladys Knight & the Pips, which included her brother Merald "Bubba" Knight and cousins William Guest and Edward Patten. She has won seven Grammy Awards (four as a solo artist and three with the Pips),[1] and is often referred to as the "Empress of Soul"

I swear this is one of Tyler’s most underrated movies and such a star-making role for Taraji! No serious, I think this is when people really started to pay attention to her even though she been around for years before this movie. This movie was very successful in its own right but too bad this wasn’t a hugely mainstream movie because if it was then I truly believe that it would have have scored Taraji another Oscar nomination and more big roles. This movie feels so real to me because I was 19 years old w a full time job and getting my bachelor's when my sister fell hard on drugs. We took care of her kids ages 3-6 for 3 years. My dad got sick and my mom wasn't the nicest. I stepped away for a minute because I was just the aunt. I always felt guilty. Now they are older and their mother is doing so much better. That's why this film means so much to me. It came out even before the kids needed help and each time I needed to find strength I found it here. 🙏🏾
btw at 32:02 the Eve reference she is a 90's rapper that has tattoos of two paws on her chest. She the girl who also made the classic song "who's that girl". She also played in movies like Barbershop with Ice Cube and Cedric the entertainer
I'm glad this one made you guys emotional one minute and laugh the next. Out of all of TP's films, this is the closest to his stage plays. Musical numbers with incredible voices mixed with Madea going on biblical rants (or just funny rants in general) or shooting up the stage trying to aim at the one-dimensional villain, lmao. You guys are really missing out! "I Can Do Bad All By Myself" was actually his first stage play that brought him into mainstream. And the story differs greatly from this film but still a great one on its own. As far as emotional depth in the TP film world, "Daddy's Little Girls" with Idris Elba, Gabrielle Union and Tasha Smith would make the perfect next watch. If you want more funny characters and explore Madea's family tree, "Meet The Browns" is a well-rounded film. Your pick!
Jaby and I started crying at the same time LOL! I remember seeing Tyler Perry at Blue Note Cafe (Jazz Club) here in NYC. He was just sitting there chillin. It was before this movie came out. Then some time later I went to see this movie and realized he got inspo for the jazz spot in this movie from Blue Note. I love Taraji! You guys need to watch Acrimony next. It’s another TP movie starring Taraji.
Gladys Knight is the lady name that was singing. It was her real voice. Song through the 1960’s through 80’s in a group Gladys Knight and the Pips. She’s currently 80
I just had to comment. At the part where she learned about her mother's passing, and you guys comment that we don't usually get that chance to say goodbye. It hit me. It sucks to not see then before it happens, especially cuz I live away from family. I don't get to be there. But whenever I can be there, I make sure to enjoy those moments cuz I never know when I'll see them again. One time, my grandma was sick. I held onto her for a long as I could. Not wanting to return home. I knew this was our last time and it was. Trying not to cry writing this. Thought I'd share. Thank you both for another great reaction.
AHHH! Omg. You need to watch: Tyler Perry's Temptation, Daddy's Little Girls, Meet the Browns, Madea's Big Happy Family. Non-TP movies: Waiting to Exhale, Beauty Shop, Last Holiday, Just Wright, Two Can Play at That Game, Dreamgirls and Poetic Justice.
Not an actress but a singer :) Gladys Knight, she rose to fame with the classic group "Gladys Knight and the Pips" they were up there along with the likes of the Temptations, Supremes, etc! You might recognize her voice, she sang License to Kill from the James Bond movie. Also, the Eve + paws thing was a reference to rapper Eve, who has two slaw tattoos on her chest
I've always kinda seen the main womans side. She grew up in the same house as her sister and did what she had to do to be on her own. But her sister makes bad decisions and everyone rallys to support her making those dumb decisions and takes care of the drug addicted sister. And now just because they made those decisions and everything turned out bad, it falls on the sister who has been doing everything right. That's honestly not fair. She's right. It shouldn't all fall on her now. I get it's family and whatnot and yes, she should care. But it's not her responsibility.
Here's a good point of reference. Remember when Denzel said he was a, "Pip," in The Equalizer? The older church lady is Gladys Knight from Gladys Knight And The Pips. One of the most beautiful voices you'll ever hear.
31:42 The confusion on your faces when she mentioned Eve lol it was a play on Eve in the bible and Eve the rapper. She has a tattoo of paw prints on her breast.
1:02:45 I totally got what you meant! It’s called dramatic irony, which is when our knowledge as the viewer surpasses that of characters. I recently found you all’s channel and i’ve been hooked ever since!
Thank you so much again for taking the time to react to all of Tyler's previous works. It feels very nostalgic cuz I remember when all these films originally came out, I was still in high school.😅
That indeed is her actual voice. That is the legendary Gladys Knight. And the pastor that came to the house to visit Taraj to tell her about the handyman is Legendary Singer and pastor Marvin Winans and that is also his voice.
While Taraji P Henson does sing she did not for this movie she was lip syncing. Cheryl Pepsii Riley provided the vocals she's worked with Tyler Perry a lot in his plays and his movies.

Love to hear that things got better for you! Not a Tyler Perry fan 😅 but his older films really get you in the feels 🥹💕!
Yes. Taraji was actually singing on all her parts
False. That is Cheryl Pepsii Riley voice for singing parts.
@@dishingwithdezomg yes you’re right I’m thinking of the new color purple 😭 lord the election has my mind in a puddle , thank you for the correction❤️
I don’t think in this movie but in other movies she has like hussle and flow
@@dishingwithdezthat’s was her in the kitchen tho lol
@@dishingwithdez Also false she sang all her parts
I love seeing your reactions to the hilarious madea movies 🤣
btw at 32:02 the Eve reference she is a 90's rapper that has tattoos of two paws on her chest. She the girl who also made the classic song "who's that girl". She also played in movies like Barbershop with Ice Cube and Cedric the entertainer
Jabys Laugh is the best 🤣😅
Yes, Taraji sings. She was in The Color Purple. Her breakout roll was in Hustle and Flow.
She sings but that wasn’t her singing in this movie. It was Cheryl Pepsi voice
I thought her break out role was Baby Boy with Tyrese
@@dlilwonit is
Her breakout role was Baby Boy! 🙄😒
Your pick!
Begging y’all to watch This Christmas for the holiday season 😭
Jaby and I started crying at the same time LOL! I remember seeing Tyler Perry at Blue Note Cafe (Jazz Club) here in NYC. He was just sitting there chillin. It was before this movie came out. Then some time later I went to see this movie and realized he got inspo for the jazz spot in this movie from Blue Note.
I love Taraji! You guys need to watch Acrimony next. It’s another TP movie starring Taraji.
Yes to Acrimony
Gladys Knight is the lady name that was singing. It was her real voice. Song through the 1960’s through 80’s in a group Gladys Knight and the Pips. She’s currently 80
WHATS LOVE GOT TO DO WITH IT!!!!!
omg yess! I was just about to comment this
❤❤❤ Yeesss please do this one next!
The fact that you two didn't know that was THE Gladys "Midnight Train to Georgia" Knight almost drove me up the wall 😂😂
The church lady singing is a LEGENDARY SOUL singer Gladys Knights
Not an actress but a singer :) Gladys Knight, she rose to fame with the classic group "Gladys Knight and the Pips" they were up there along with the likes of the Temptations, Supremes, etc! You might recognize her voice, she sang License to Kill from the James Bond movie. Also, the Eve + paws thing was a reference to rapper Eve, who has two slaw tattoos on her chest
This is why I love Madea. She always finds a way to make a sad moment hilarious.
My favorite duo: Jaby and Michael!!! ❤ I can't wait to watch this with you!
16:36 what you mean, touch you AGAINT?!😂😂😂😂😂
This was one of Tyler's best films.
And The Family That Preys
You guys need to watch Obsessed with Beyonce and Idris Elba!! Pleaseeee the drama
Has Bey ever been in any Tyler Perry movies?..
@@lessismore8533thankfully no. She’s better off. I can’t say the same for Kelly 😅
@@lessismore8533no. Kelly Rowland has
@@lessismore8533no…
Thank you so much again for taking the time to react to all of Tyler's previous works.
The way I screamed at the tv saying “how y’all don’t know that’s Gladys Knight” 😂😂😂
While Taraji P Henson does sing she did not for this movie she was lip syncing. Cheryl Pepsii Riley provided the vocals she's worked with Tyler Perry a lot in his plays and his movies.
I felt so bamboozled when I found out Taraji was lip syncing😂😂 she did good!
I think the only scene she does sing is the kitchen scene
No she is singing in the kitchen
@@shania991shes not. Thats Cheryl too.
@@reianahmae7650no shes not.
