Jewish cuisine is quite vast, as it encompasses many different cultures . but your typical mainstream Jewish deli in the U.S. and Canada , have their roots in the Ashkenazi tradition. specifically the German Ashkenazi.
Indeed. There's really only one place in Vancouver for Jewish deli food that I can think of without Googling, Omnitsky Kosher on Oak just south of 41st.
Vancouver has pretty darn good smoke meat (aka pastrami ala Montreal) though. I can’t remember the name of the place a block of Granville by the commodore, but very passable matzoh ball soup to boot. Plus Dr browns black cherry soda. A must!
Dude. Ya did good boychic! I moved to Seattle from Manhattan in 95 and still have to go back every year to get my food fix in. Russ and Daughters would have been a great smoked fish location to hit. Because as my goy fiancé like to say. When I come home from synagogue and hanging w all the older fellas. I’m 53 but my crew runs in their 80s lol) she says I come back smelling like smoked fish and onions and bless her heart she loves it, me thinks the guys I hang with rather than the smoked fish and onions, but who am I or quibble meh?

The horseradish was for the gefilte, not for the bread. It’s good if it blows the snot out of your nose. Gotta be made fresh. Gezunta heit!
My sinuses were definitely cleared after that meal!
That looks really delicious thank for sharing. Have a nice day.
The music is terrible at the begining. But the sandwiches look absolutely great.
Solid dishes on display
Eat the gefilte fish with the horseradish.
2:07 The Rebbe as the "Messiah". Thats a rich cuisine in NYC.

Lots of choices in New York. Katz and Russ and Daughters and some Prince Street Pizza too
Montreal Bagels are the best!
Agreed!
Those are fighting words 😂
At Sarges the bread was breaking up, looks stale to me.
According to their website FAQs they are not Kosher??
Which place?
@@stephaneats3944 Katzz
Gottlieb's is 100% Fully Kosher and even up a higher notch Glatt Kosher. You are absolutely right about the others though 👍
Sarge's expensive like Katz's
Yup, was pretty up there 🥲
On par with prices
BETTER NOT TALK ABOUT JEWISH FOOD ON IVY LEAGUE CAMPUSES.

Tf you talking about?
Didn’t go to Katz? You’re right, Vancouver doesn’t have great delis…
Why would you add the chili into the burger when it was served as a garnish? Adding to the burger was not a "pro move."
Was better with the pepper 🌶 they also encourage you to place the pepper in the burger
@@stephaneats3944 Was pouring mustard all over your pastrami sandwich as you were eating it a "pro move" as well?
A SHIT LOAD ?
