Eating Some of the Best Pastrami in NYC at Frankel's Delicatessen

- I eat and review the pastrami sandwich and reuben at Frankel's Delicatessen & Appetizing in Greenpoint, Brooklyn of New York City. I believe the establishment serves some of the best pastrami in NYC. I also compare their pastrami to some of the other notable restaurants that serve the meat such as Katz's Delicatessen and Hometown Bar-B-Que. After finishing my sandwich, I get a donut and coffee from the iconic Peter Pan Donut & Pastry Shop.

Nice segment James. Pastrami will always be the king of NY! I appreciate all your reviews on the various establishments that offer this NY delicacy. On another note, Peter Pan is an institution in Greenpoint. Am very glad you enjoyed your donut (and dollar coffee) there. Stay well.
Thank you! Indeed! NYC is likely the greatest place for pastrami!
This looks delicious! 😋😍 I love a good pastrami sandwich! & this video was amazing as always. I have been waiting all year for this time of the year, Fall is my favorite! 🍁🍂
Thank you! The pastrami was so good! It's not just a good pastrami sandwich, it's a great sandwich! Me too! Fall in NYC is an amazing time!
Just found your channel and subscribed. Also watched your vids on Delmonico (didn't know they re-opened) and 63 Clinton (happy belated BD) Great vids and wishing you continued Success!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it!
What a delicious lunch!
It was very satisfying!
I'm hopeful that a hungry little critter got to take advantage of your fallen piece of pastrami!
I'm not sure about that, but some animal hopefully got a nice snack out of it.
James, Love your videos. Michelin stars are nice but a Pastrami sandwich ala Stage Deli or Carnegie Deli is truly a think of beauty. The Reuben is one of the great masterpieces of the modern world. I lived in NYC for 35 years and was a foodie with an expense account. You are too young Riley to know Cafe Seyokin, Batons, Barocco, Circo, but there is still Moustache, Odeon, Balthazar, Le Singe Vert, to name a few. Keep on eating and I will l keep on watching.
Thank you so much! Indeed! A good, juicy, hot pastrami sandwich is a special thing! Besides, I don't want to eat just fancy food all of the time. Some of the best food is quick, fast, and affordable. Yeah, I haven't had the pleasure of dining at some of NYC's notable institutions of the past, but I do love reading about them and I've heard about some of the places that you've listed. I definitely will be dining at Balthazar and Odeon in the future.
Looks delicious, great video as always
Thank you so much! It was indeed top-notch pastrami!
Thank you for sharing a cool sandwich place!!
Thank you for watching!
Ever think about taking your talents to Los Angeles for a weekend to do their pastrami sandwiches? A little pricey, but everyone needs a vacation. Great video as always
Thank you! I've been to LA before and really enjoyed it, but I've never been to some of their top places for pastrami like Langer's. Hopefully, I'll get back there again in the future.
Peter Pan donuts are my favorite. Need to hit up Frankes, great video big fan of the channel.
Thank you! Yeah, Peter Pan is an essential spot of the neighborhood. Indeed! Frankel's is definitely worth checking out.
Fall is coming?!? It was 90° today buddy!! But, alas.. It is. Never heard of this place, but looks excellent! Glad you enjoyed it!
I know right! It seems like seasons can change pretty quick here though so I wanted to take advantage of the nice weather before it was too late. Yeah, it was a great sandwich! The meat had so much flavor. It's a must-visit for the neighborhood.
Hey James always enjoy the content just curious have u ever thought about doing a video on how u combat gaining weight and staying in shape? U look healthy btw I’m just curious what’s your method to not gain weight indulging in great food. I hope u do know I’m paying you a compliment 👍
Thank you! I appreciate it! I'm really into running and I'm always active. When I'm eating at home, I usually consume food that's much lighter and healthier. I might make a video in some fashion about it in the future.
Nothing better than a hot pastrami Rueben. 🌺🌺🌺
Indeed!
A great looking sandwich! I prefer 2nd Ave Deli and Katz’s over Frankel’s. Good review!
Thank you! Indeed! You can't go wrong with either Katz's or 2nd Ave Deli. Both are incredible!
Definitely want to do a video with you! Another solid video
That would be awesome! Thank you!
The background music kind of reminded me of My Best Friend’s Girl by The Cars.
😜
I know what you mean. Now I have that song stuck in my head.
Wow, I just found you and I think you are my new favorite restaurant reviewer
Thank you so much!
Yummm looks so good love you reviews look fowafd to your next..
Thank you so much! For sure, that was a delicious sandwich!
uhh this video made me hungry add it to my list of restaurants in NYC! looks so good so do you lol
Thank you!! That's kind to say! And yes, that's a must try restaurant!
Great share as per usual! The sandwich looked great. So juicy. Keep up the under 30$ meals. Love the high end too but sometimes the everyday has a special moment. 👍
Thank you! Absolutely! In fact, I think some of the best food isn't always found in fine dining establishments.
@@Jamesnu that's why I enjoy watching your reviews...humble or haughty....you can appreciate good food
👍🥰
Hey James great video you gotta come to LA and have Langers pastrami the # 19 - I’m visiting Brooklyn this weekend to meet my new niece !
I definitely want to visit Langers sometime! I hope you enjoy your time in Brooklyn!
That truly looked as good as any of the best of them, and on par with Katz's. Perhaps the bread sogged up because they wrapped it up? I usually visit Greenpoint for the Polish food but next time I visit I will venture into Frankel's. Across the street from Peter Pan Donuts is a place called Polka Dot. Excellent Polish food. It's sort of like a takeout place. Great quality and affordable. I recommend going early when the food is the freshest.
Thanks for the recommendation! One side of my family has a lot of Polish heritage, so Greenpoint has always had a special feel for me. I've never been to Polka Dot, but I'll definitely give it a try in the future. Indeed, I think Frankel's has some of the best pastrami in NYC. That's also what I was thinking too about the bread sogging up because of it being wrapped. Still, it was at least nice to see some color on the bread.
Just subscribed. Looks amazing.
Thank you! I really appreciate it!
Safe Journey! CHOLULA!!!
Great video. Just found your channel
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it!
Hi James another great video 😊
That sandwich looks amazing
Where is Frankel’s?
Thank you so much! It's in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, which isn't too far from Manhattan.
Is it on Greenpoint Ave or Manhattan Ave?
@@MP-of9hg It's on Manhattan Ave and right next to McCarren Park.
James, there is the “5 second rule” when a tasty protein hits the deck…..
Haha! If it fell on a table rather than the ground, I probably would've eaten it.
@@Jamesnu Right on . Keep the fun reviews coming!
Ur a Kool dude, I subbed a couple of weeks ago.
Thank you! I appreciate it!
I live near Pastrami Queen and it's a blessing and a curse lol
Haha! I know what you mean!
Next time you should try the Jelly Donut Ice Cream sandwich they offer. It's incredible and a must try.
For sure! That sounds awesome!
@@Jamesnu Just don't eat it everyday.
@@unknown183 Haha! For sure!
Great job I never been to either Frankel or hometown BBQ I'll have to try my fave sandwich is Sarges pastrami cornbeef combo with coleslaw and Russian dressing on top. Katz is second. When I took patients to Atlantic Ave dialysis years ago ate a David's a lot they used to know me and just funny how in a African American neighborhood you get Jewish food run by middle eastern people
I really like David's too! I'll probably make a video about that one sometime in the future. I like how they offer different sizes of their pastrami and corned beef sandwiches even though I would always get a large.
@@Jamesnu good I think Omar was manager when I was there
My goodness you are handsome 👌🏼
Oh, and now I want a pastrami sandwich… Looks delicious.
Thank you! It was a great sandwich!
You're killing me here in the waste land for deli in Oregon
Oregon still has great food, but yeah, when it comes to delis and pastrami, NYC might just be the best city for it.
Did you run the 5th avenue mile yesterday?
No, but that's a great race. I've been concentrating on distance over speed. I'll be running a marathon soon.
How does it compare to Hometowns Pastrami sandwich?
Hometown is still my favorite, but Frankel's is still really good. The two things that Frankel's beats Hometown on is that you do get more pastrami and it's about $6 less for the sandwich.
Got the pastrami sandwich there twice. First time it was sensation. Second time awful -taste and texture was as if they took some ballpark franks and thinly sliced it and piled it on bread.
Yikes! That's unfortunate!
How much is a pastrami sandwich in NYC? Obviously I am not from anywhere near there
For sandwiches they're kind of expensive. Katz's, which is the most famous and popular place for pastrami, sells them for $26. Most of the other notable restaurants for the meat sell them for about a couple of bucks less.
It’s way too much but you’re paying for the experience (and the rent).
@@thehypnoticdog6682 Yep, they're expensive.
No drink?🥤
I just drank a bottle of water that I brought with me and I drank a lot too. Pastrami is salty!
Raj from Hell's kitchen still work there ?
I'm not sure. I don't go to Frankel's that often.
I made a huge mistake long ago at Katz’s-on the West Coast, Reubens are made w pastrami, so that’s what I ordered my first time there. The first time I’ve almost cried holding a big sando … of CORNED BEEF! 👀😩
It was 🤔 Note ta self: East Coast Reubens are NOT PASTRAMI! 😮💨🤦♂️
It happens. It could be worse. You could definitely get a pastrami Reuben here, but you have to specify it.
How can you eat that much and stay slim? Lucky!
Haha! Well, I'm always active. Running is one of my favorite activities.
Let a dog eat that piece that fell on the ground. Make his day!
Haha! Yeah, that would be one happy dog!
Those prices way too much.
Pastrami is unfortunately pretty costly in NYC.
Get yourself to artichoke pizza the lobster pizza is 10/10
I've been to Artichoke. I even have a UA-cam Short of my experience. You're right, it's delicious!
Doesn’t look as big a sandwitch as Katz.
Yeah, it's a bit smaller, but it's still a good sized sandwich.
Pastrami has too much fat for me. I prefer lean corned beef.
I understand. Corned beef is great too!
