Awesome video. The prep phase seemed really painful, honestly not sure if I would have the mental fortitude to stick through that for 100 attempts... But once the build was running it was super cool and looked really fun and satisfying.
1.parrying: i found these conclusions too, parrying is cool and all, but looking for frame perfect windows is a lot of effort for not so much payoff, dogding and L2 punishing is much better imo 2.french press: we have adopted it, and we probably dont do the whole ritual, because i think its the easiest way to make coffee, boil water, grind coffee, pour together and bam! coffee 3.the tail: cant yoou double cast it for big tail? i remember you can do that, but yeah bosses allways have the pre-nerfed op version, sadge 4.Lionel run when? (Epéé good)
I love these videos so much, I frequently set a playlist of your video on at night and fall asleep watching them. Probably one of my favourite UA-camrs of 2023 but I have to say it: French press coffee really isn't that much harder than loading a coffee maker. Boil some water and throw it in the French press with your coffee and then that's it. Push the plunger after like 5 minutes and boom, coffee done. I don't know if you have French press confused with like an espresso maker or not but French press is dummy easy. Sorry, needed to be said.
I like the crucible Armor but I used it with the Crescent Moon Axe that droped from the Axewielders in Stormveil. Gives a Warhammer Chaos Champion of Khorne feel.
In case anyone struggles with fighting the knights with a shield, just use the kick ash of war any time they raise the shield, its an instant stagger and free stab every time. :D
I think the problem with the crucible knight parry damage is that they are just resistant to it, seeing as how the Crucible Scale talisman gives resistance to critical damage, probably as a reflection of the Crucible Knights resistance
For Ordovis, you can parry all Overhead swing attacks. Just look for those start up animations and be ready to parry or dodge when it's not an overhead.
I'm now curious about what french press setup you've seen. Cause I have 3 things. Ground coffee, hot water, press. Always thought this was the cheap n easy option besides the instant stuff I love.
Ordovis GS is one of the most underrated broken weapons in the game. Insane damage, ludicrous stance damage, and the holy isnt much of an inconvenience at all since the vast majority of the damage is physical. Also charged ashes are goated because they get boosts from both godfrey icon and shard of alexander. Tree is fantastic too, I just prefer the vortex skill
I like to describe crucible night's as the god's of reach. because they close distances quick, and a lot of their attacks feel like they could poke the firegiant from Limgrave.
actually, right next to where the raya lucara bridge leads to the road to the dectus lift, there is a mausoleam that you're supposed to jump up onto, and the air lift to do it is right next to the cliff. meaning you can skip lucaria's key and jump up right to the same grace without the trouble of backtracking.
@@tulokthebarbrarian2033 is it? i mean ig when you plan on killing renalla it is, but in terms of just gunning straight to altus it at the very least feels faster
I love this video so much because on my 4th or 5th run on Elden ring I also decided to do a crucible build but I went with Ordovis’ sword and shield It was such a blast, I struggled immensely with crucible duo (they don’t get enough hate on the internet) and I was at level 90-ish which is probably just right it even slightly over levelled Seeing this just brought a tear into my eye, kudos!!! That was amazing!!!
Fun fact: while siluria's name comes from a prehistoric era (silurian age), in italian it's one of the ways you'd call a feminine version of a missile, so like "missilette" (with the real standard male version being "siluro"). Which is kind of accurate with the way the ash of war works... 😂
“We have crucible knight spirit ashes at home” was my first run, I took what I could get. Also, when I’m running around with all crucible stuff I allow the dragon bite and claw spells since they fit thematically with the tail fire breath and crucible background. Also with Malenia, ash knight trying to keep her pinned in the corner with the massive aoe fire breath, he was doin his best with what he had.
Your pivot to Elden Ring from D&D is a blessing. I've literally never cared about watching this game before, only playing. Kudos on making a game I found unwatchable except for hyper specific naked challange runs interesting and fun!
Actually watched a run earlier where they got the tail to kill Margit, killed the crucible knight to get the horn, and apparently the horn even throws crucible knights in the air. So he used that to get the armor and sword. I know it doesn’t fit the rules of the run, but that’s still pretty cool.
I did a similar playthrough a few months back, also fighting the Crucible Duo early. The best method is definitely using the Misericorde and Buckler, though obviously you need to beat Margit for both of those and it wouldn't have worked for this specific challenge. I also suck at parrying, so yeah, that was 40% of my game time on that save.
For the 4 parry square: They parry for the first phase smd stop for the second because first phase has more parryable attacks. Also in first season, they parry even after 4 parries to get the opening to stun with unsheathe, just not in second season because they usually gave to 2 hand their weapons and dont know how to capitalize on the openings as they dont choose their weapons
Hey dude, i stumbled upon your video and the crucible knights look awesome so i decided to "copy" your build and add some incantation buffs (my first ever full playthrough not quite done yet i'll update when i'm done). Super nice looking Armor set and both weapons are great. Had this build done after Radahn going into Deeproot and grabbing the Spear. Used holy infusion from an ash of war i picked up somewhere and just guardcountered my way through the beginning. Hero grave... kite kite kite until siluria was dead, then parry spam Ordovis. Overall horrible fight and countless attempts through multiple stages of the game until i was strong enough (i hate double bosses). Niall was wasy with the spear. Lined up the right soldier with him, then lined up the left soldier with him. Then run and spam inbetween whirlwind charge move and jumps. 9 attempts. Fire Giant was easy with spear on horseback and just drilling his butthole. between 15-20 attempts. Mohg was...interesting. Got to spam Tree L2 quite a lot because he did those debuff thingies at some damage thresholds i think so phase 1 was easy. Chug pots during transition and phase 2 i ditched the spear because he just spammed his fires when i was far away. Took me a while to get his moves but i pulled through after 4-5 hours and 30+ attempts and some grass touching inbetween to cool down. Godskin Duo almost broke me and i ultimately gave up and used a summon. Honestly, that's all i needed because the second the enemy de-aggrod, the Vortex could dish out some insane damage and poise break. 50+ tries before giving up and using mimic though that didn't feel rewarding so going forward i benched my evil twin indeffinitely. The big 2 headed Dragon dude was surprisingly easy, had his moves down in 2-3 attempts. Straightforward attacks and some good openings when he did his green fire breath (except that laser which i dodged by chance) and dead on the 5th run. Maliketh was brutal because he spams a lot. I used Silurias Tree in Phase 1 weaving L2s from behind the pillars and O's Greatsword in Phase 2 which consisted mostly of me running around dodging and looking for openings. 40+ tries. Malenia was absurdly easy with the horn incantation and Ordovis Greatsword she was perma broken. She got off that spinny move once and i was tanky enough to get away with not dodging every instance. In phase 2 transition i switched back to the spear and hit her a few times and then back into Greatsword staggerparty and luck dodging the dance and her shadow clone jutsu thing. Dead on the 7th attempt but i might have been overleved at 130, not sure. Gideon didn't even touch me once. Full Charge Vortex-> Horn -> Vortex and some more hits and he was basically dead. 1st try. Currently i'm at Godfrey and dude, that Phase 2 is hard. He doesn't give me time to Charge for L2's so i'm trying dodgerolling, tapping L2 and slowly wittling him down. I got the jump timings down for all those stomps but phase 2 he just spams batista bombs and ground slams/eruptions when i try to get in charge hits. He feels impossible to stagger. Should get it done tomorrow. 50+ and counting. So far, overall a super fun build. Thanks for the awesome suggestion. i'll update how the other bosses go with this build (including dlc once i play it).
This is an older video so maybe it's old news, but yes pretty much all Bosses gain Hyper-Armor AND significant Damage-Reduction during their phase-transitions. It's there to make sure phases switch over without bugging out because you stunned Morgott during his puddles or such, and to encourage the player to back off and prepare for the more difficult next phase.
When people say that those horns cheese malenia, they’re talking about a scripted fight that uses other weapons ashes of war and a heavy attack to consistently keep her stance broken. I think it’s horns, crucible sword ash of war, and charged heavy. However, scripting fights is lame. Saw gino do it in his faith only run I think
funny story - if you power stance serpent hunter with another greatspear (yanno, like siluria's), you get the serpent hunter gimmick power on BOTH SPEARS. Irrelevant for any other run, but it would've been funny here.
The thing is it's meant to be a reward for one of the most difficult dungeon bosses, a double crucible knight tag team fight, it should be slightly broken to feel like a reward.
For belum bridge, there's a spirit spring to jump up from below. It didn't look like the teleporting and key were important? So run up to bridge from underneath, slightly to the south east. there's a spirit spring in the trees to jump up, skipping all of the academy.
This kinda inspired the build I decided to hit the DLC with. I went and got materials, starting as a Vagabond, learned the Dragonbarrow Cavalry Cheese finally, and got help of 2 more experienced players (who thankfully didn’t mind the debuff that came from joining me) to deal with the Duo. I would have never gotten past them otherwise, cuz even in my MAIN run, with proper leveling and stats, unless I get help of other players, I can’t handle this Duo, cuz Soirit Ashes aren’t enough. I already struggle with a Lone Crucible Knight as it is lol. But I got the gear, and I’m working to get aome levels so I can hit Medium Load and use the Sword. Then, time to begin marching through thr Lands Between.
Trying a similar run myself, these knights look so cool. I finally beat the duo, my summon would die too fast, so it wasnt worth the fp. I started as a prophet, and got myself to level 51 before I attempted to take them on. Black flame fireball on the spear, then with Ordovis, I used a +8 morningstar, and woth the assassins crimson knife talisman, I used the kick ash of war to crit some health back whenever I could. It took me maybe 30 or so tries, but I got it! Now I just need another 10 levels of strength, and maybe 6 endurance to wear the rest of the armor. Looking forward to getting Siluria's Tree!
There is some easy strat to make that Crucible duo fight much less pain in the ass than it used to be. 1. Start as a wretch. Nice 10 of all stats. 2. Get the Demi-human Queen staff or buy the Astrologer's staff. 3. Get the +3 int crown from the Academy and Marika's Scarseal from Siofra river for more +3 int. 4. Cheeze Commander O'Nile and progress Millicent's quest until Gowry sell you a Night Maiden's Mist. 5. Go for the Crucible duo. Just play safe, kite them and lure in the mist and eventually they will die. Much easier than fighting them like you did.
I like parrying. I'm not the very best or anything. But I'm replaying ER now as a dual dagger build with parry on the offhand and I'm having a blast. It's so super satisfying.
I know it’s a little late for this, but if you have kick as your ash of war you can instantly set up the shield Crucible for a riposte if he’s blocking.
As someone who watched a vtuber beat the crucible duo with only the tail on a properly leveled and buffed character, it took her I think around 8 hours of attempts. You made the correct decision.
oh man, watching you suffer on stream was so wild. i cant believe how fast you finished the run after you got the armor and sword. also, sorry for the bingo suggestion cause i think its just a different kind of suffering to see you go through xD cant wait for the next run!
Crucible knights are goated af. Easily some of the coolest enemies in the game albeit a pain to fight early on. That spear absolutely carried my first run in the game after I got it and made me feel like the badass paladin I was tryna be
Okay, just at the first duo part of the video and have to say, parrying ordovis is straight up the easiest way to beat him. Just be sure to only parry the left to right (from his perspective) wide swing and the right overhead downward as there windows are the most forgiving and they tend to be single attacks so even if you miss them up the punish is minimal. I spent way too long at redmane castle bashing my head against the wall of the beast and crucible knight fight there at very very low level before switching to parry strats and thrashing it.
French press coffee is just as easy to make as a regular coffee pot. The only thing easier is Keurig, but pods taste like ass unless you have the pid you can put your own coffee in, at which point you may as well use a french coffee press. Besides, a kettle of hit water in the morning can be used for coffee, tea, or oatmeal.
My hardest challenge at all. Second was the Gargoyle duo to get Siluria's tree and Elemer and third is Godskin in Caelid tower. Any other 'starting weapons' were breeze.
I can't remember... did you do a tree sentinel run? Halberd and basic armor only need you to kill that first sentinel and the beam puzzle... I suppose you'd have to allow yourself to kill the Sentinel with starting gear weapon but... well.
Early pain to grab them. I recommended this a while ago for the Aspect of the Horn, but I acknowledged it’d suck to get a weapon and armor. Also the vid looks way smoother this week, looks real nice
Hold up, french press coffee is the easiest way to make coffee without a machine. Just heat some water, put grounds in the press, pour the water in there, and you have coffee 5 minutes later. No filters to worry about, no k-cups. It's easy.
12:15 New Elden Ring player here. Fought the Crucible Knight for the first time in the evergaol and at the bottom of Stormveil earlier this week. Was probably overleveled for both. Glad to know that far more skilled players find both of those attacks to be BS. I was wondering where the tell was for the animation beginning. There is no tell. I still panic roll so when I saw the first swipe come out I thought I was far enough away only to get smacked by the second.
From what I have seen: You were doing the horn thing wrong. You were spamming the spell, meaning you'd hit Malenia whilst she was in her unstaggerable get-up animation which in turn means that she has time to do something before your next hit. What you can do instead is fully charge a crucible tail, which will hit her twice, with the second hit happening just at the right time to knock her down again. Either that, or just wait a short moment so she'll be out of the animation by the time your second charge hits her. Doing this also builds an unholy amount of stance pressure, so she's gonna be ripe for a crit pretty quickly.
Beating Ordovis at that level is wild. I found Parrying to be the only way for me to get damage in and survive hits from the other knight while I was in the reposte. I fought them for a long time so I started to really understand their moves. (I learned this the hard way) You missed a lot of parries because of the spacing. You have to be right up next to them when parrying to hit. I thought the Spear knight lunge was unparryable, but found out it was if I moved in closer. Also the vortex is probably the easiest parry for free damage.
Ordovis saw Malenia break her own rules in phase 2 and was like "I want me some of that"
"My turn"
I personally love siluras tree against malenia, It’s fine to call a summon then clay pigeon her out of the air or knock her onto her ass with the Ash

Happy to see it. I have asked for this in the past, and the call has been answered.
We do what we can
Sure crucible knights can grow wings and fly but does that mean can make the swag jump to safety first try, or will it take like 5 hours of set up?
5:20 of set up
@@tulokthebarbrarian2033where is mango
Awesome video. The prep phase seemed really painful, honestly not sure if I would have the mental fortitude to stick through that for 100 attempts... But once the build was running it was super cool and looked really fun and satisfying.
1.parrying: i found these conclusions too, parrying is cool and all, but looking for frame perfect windows is a lot of effort for not so much payoff, dogding and L2 punishing is much better imo
2.french press: we have adopted it, and we probably dont do the whole ritual, because i think its the easiest way to make coffee, boil water, grind coffee, pour together and bam! coffee
3.the tail: cant yoou double cast it for big tail? i remember you can do that, but yeah bosses allways have the pre-nerfed op version, sadge
4.Lionel run when? (Epéé good)
Lionel could be fun, even though we couldn't get the armor until the capital. Maybe for an NG+ run
@@tulokthebarbrarian2033 that could work since he goes for family sized stat requirements
The rants were absolute peak. Would watch you die against the duo for ages.
People seem to like it when I rant haha
I love these videos so much, I frequently set a playlist of your video on at night and fall asleep watching them. Probably one of my favourite UA-camrs of 2023 but I have to say it: French press coffee really isn't that much harder than loading a coffee maker. Boil some water and throw it in the French press with your coffee and then that's it. Push the plunger after like 5 minutes and boom, coffee done. I don't know if you have French press confused with like an espresso maker or not but French press is dummy easy. Sorry, needed to be said.
Half a video on a single boss...prime content right here, boys!
This is why i hate challenge runs
I like the crucible Armor but I used it with the Crescent Moon Axe that droped from the Axewielders in Stormveil. Gives a Warhammer Chaos Champion of Khorne feel.
In case anyone struggles with fighting the knights with a shield, just use the kick ash of war any time they raise the shield, its an instant stagger and free stab every time. :D
I JUST started putting together a Crucible knight build. Already have all of the armor and weapons; still need to figure out the talismans.
Alexander shard is a MUST as is Godfrey Icon
I think the problem with the crucible knight parry damage is that they are just resistant to it, seeing as how the Crucible Scale talisman gives resistance to critical damage, probably as a reflection of the Crucible Knights resistance
For Ordovis, you can parry all Overhead swing attacks. Just look for those start up animations and be ready to parry or dodge when it's not an overhead.
The tail has 2 swings when you use it, one is normal, and the other is Ordovis' semi truck hitbox one :p
I spit my monster at the "Reaches across the map and hits the f*** Fire Giant"
I'm now curious about what french press setup you've seen. Cause I have 3 things. Ground coffee, hot water, press. Always thought this was the cheap n easy option besides the instant stuff I love.
"You don't have to suffer while you eat lunch" Man that's exactly when I watch your videos, when I'm eating
This man knows his audience.
I feel like the incantations are better with the claw mark seal since the build seems very strength faith oriented
Yeah, charged ashes are NUTTY
I like to describe crucible night's as the god's of reach. because they close distances quick, and a lot of their attacks feel like they could poke the firegiant from Limgrave.
actually, right next to where the raya lucara bridge leads to the road to the dectus lift, there is a mausoleam that you're supposed to jump up onto, and the air lift to do it is right next to the cliff. meaning you can skip lucaria's key and jump up right to the same grace without the trouble of backtracking.
That's way slower though
@@tulokthebarbrarian2033 is it? i mean ig when you plan on killing renalla it is, but in terms of just gunning straight to altus it at the very least feels faster
I love this video so much because on my 4th or 5th run on Elden ring I also decided to do a crucible build but I went with Ordovis’ sword and shield
It was such a blast, I struggled immensely with crucible duo (they don’t get enough hate on the internet) and I was at level 90-ish which is probably just right it even slightly over levelled
Seeing this just brought a tear into my eye, kudos!!! That was amazing!!!
15:08 Miyazaki listened to my man and added one in the DLC
Fun fact: while siluria's name comes from a prehistoric era (silurian age), in italian it's one of the ways you'd call a feminine version of a missile, so like "missilette" (with the real standard male version being "siluro").
Which is kind of accurate with the way the ash of war works... 😂
Parrying is the French press coffee of Elden Ring
That's why it's called Paris-ing
Whoa, this is true
“We have crucible knight spirit ashes at home” was my first run, I took what I could get. Also, when I’m running around with all crucible stuff I allow the dragon bite and claw spells since they fit thematically with the tail fire breath and crucible background.
Also with Malenia, ash knight trying to keep her pinned in the corner with the massive aoe fire breath, he was doin his best with what he had.
Your parry window rant was tops.
The fact that the music for the ready to die chapter wasnt biggie is an absolute crime
Your pivot to Elden Ring from D&D is a blessing. I've literally never cared about watching this game before, only playing. Kudos on making a game I found unwatchable except for hyper specific naked challange runs interesting and fun!
HAHAHA "the drill that will pierce the heavens"! Nice Gurren Laggan reference there
Actually watched a run earlier where they got the tail to kill Margit, killed the crucible knight to get the horn, and apparently the horn even throws crucible knights in the air. So he used that to get the armor and sword. I know it doesn’t fit the rules of the run, but that’s still pretty cool.
I love that we're getting the Angel Wings in the DLC
I did a similar playthrough a few months back, also fighting the Crucible Duo early. The best method is definitely using the Misericorde and Buckler, though obviously you need to beat Margit for both of those and it wouldn't have worked for this specific challenge.
I also suck at parrying, so yeah, that was 40% of my game time on that save.
Learning that the omen duo shackles trigger the pillars and illusion doors really made the hero graves not terrible
For the 4 parry square:
They parry for the first phase smd stop for the second because first phase has more parryable attacks.
Also in first season, they parry even after 4 parries to get the opening to stun with unsheathe, just not in second season because they usually gave to 2 hand their weapons and dont know how to capitalize on the openings as they dont choose their weapons
And this is where i would put my "Golden Crucible Knight Wings", if I HAD ONE
Tulok gathering smithing stones individually instead of getting the bell bearings?? Impossible
I can't kill the crystallian!
@@tulokthebarbrarian2033 that is EXACTLY what I was thinking about 🤣
well looks like we can get those sweet angel wings now!
Love the content! And I beg for a crystallian run 🙏🙏🙏
But we can't get the ring! I want the ring!
@@tulokthebarbrarian2033I know 😭😭 Love all your runs tho, def my fave Elden ring creator !
The crucible tree spear is similar to the bolt of gransax in the way that they’re both ridiculously OP
Amazing build(s)
My run began on NG+ with the Ordorvis load-out and now I’m on NG+2 at Fire Giant with Siluria. ...Pod-racing 👍🏻
Saw your pain during the stream, thanks for going through all that for these videos
Thanks for hanging out haha
15:10 it's arriving bro, 21th june 🔥
We're getting the angel wings in the dlc let's fuckin' gooooooooooooo
I like parrying. I'm not the very best or anything. But I'm replaying ER now as a dual dagger build with parry on the offhand and I'm having a blast. It's so super satisfying.
8:32 the parry into the heal punish is insane
LIONS CLAW ASH OF WAR on the ZWEIHANDER and the Mimic tear. That fight was so much more fun on my second playthrough
I'ma be honest: the Fort Haight jokes are my favorite😂 like i know it's coming, it's the same EVERY TIME. But it always puts a smile on my face
You said no BUT id love to see you play Bingo Elden ring. That'd be really fun
Most I could handle is Commentary haha
Been waiting for this one, now we gotta see tree sentinel and omen killer
Crucible gank is a task to be sure but man, what a fight. Ya gotta love it.
oh man, watching you suffer on stream was so wild. i cant believe how fast you finished the run after you got the armor and sword. also, sorry for the bingo suggestion cause i think its just a different kind of suffering to see you go through xD cant wait for the next run!
Fun fact the wing attack was in the DLC trailer
My hardest challenge at all. Second was the Gargoyle duo to get Siluria's tree and Elemer and third is Godskin in Caelid tower. Any other 'starting weapons' were breeze.
Sword is also so fast to attack. Wow! Such a nice and fancy build.
Damn, nice novel you wrote. Here's a couplet
Use the spear
Win
@@tulokthebarbrarian2033 Or use the horns, properly.
Also win.
