Wow. As usual, incredible episode. I would like to give a huge thank you to you Brandon for covering our topic and initiative on such a great platform that allows our message of hope to be widespread. Keep doing your great work in the community. God bless family 🙏🏾🙏🏾
Thank you for inspiring us all with your words 🙏🏾
your poem gave me chills. thank you for sharing your art.
Save Little Jamaica! I live steps from here and before MetroLinx it was such a feeling to walk through the area on a summer day. Such vibrancy! Don't let this place die like Africville and Amber Valley.
I remember watching you at the hospital on the TV in the waiting room on CP24 each week while my child was getting dialysis treatments. You brought such great energy and seeing someone who looked like me with my background.... WOW!!! When I heard I wouldn’t see you anymore on CP24 it really sucked! My family and I cheered for you all summer and we were so sad to think we wouldn’t see you. So! so! so! excited to see this UA-cam show. You are a Toronto treasure and I’m wishing you so much non stop success!!! Thank you for being such a breath of fresh air, so shameless in giving your voice, your perspective and your culture. So many of us can relate. Watching you feels like going to the family function and giving loved ones a big hug 🤗 we LOVE you ❤️❤️❤️
Just wanna say 20K subscribes in 3 months is impressive but I know this channel will hit 2 million SOON TIME
Speak it!! 🙌🏾🙌🏻🙌🏿
Little Jamaica, excellent piece. Calling all Jamaicans to please support and buy Jamaica!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you depending on Jamaica’s alone to support little Jamaica you’ve lot the plot. You should be reaching out to the Torontonians on a whole, black community in general or at least the Caribbean community because I know there’s business’s in little Jamaica that are owned by people from other Caribbean islands and by just calling on Jamaicans to support little Jamaica the number of supporters these businesses will get will be minimize. Sometimes you have to look at the larger scope of things and look at who has been going to do business in little Jamaica before all of this and it’s far from just Jamaicans that support these business’s. 2 of the biggest barbershop’s there are owned by a trini and one of them is co-owned by a Haitian. It might be call little Jamaica but there’s business owners from all over the Caribbean there.
Its so sad what has happened to lil Jamaica. It’s definitely being gentrified. I did enjoy watching this episode. This is what I like to see, our stories. The other side of what the news wants to show us.
We promise to deliver that every week 🖤
I drive the bus and I've done night bus and believe you me the shelters are often at capacity forcing the homeless to often times take shelter on the bus for the night. The city needs to do better for the homeless people in our city. It's heartbreaking 💔
I just came back to Toronto from LA and all the memories are coming back
Happy to see the show highlighting poetry Brandon. A very powerful piece.
Here's a poem I wrote to everyone, to all of us going through the Pandemic, which is every single person in the World right now.
Good wishes man; take care, I love your show and your staff, it makes me happy to see you be a creator.
Here's the poem below, you are welcome to read it and share it with any and everyone. It's called "feel things".
Feel things...
I miss life.
I miss the way you can feel things.
I miss being able to have emotions.
I miss being able to be macho when I don't want to shed a tear.
I miss seeing things.
I miss connecting with people.
I miss having friends.
I miss eating with family.
Life is a different animal.
You can digest food.
You can eat candy.
You can kiss your girl on her lips.
You can kiss your Grandmother on her cheek.
You can go ice skating at the pond.
You can sit on the shore at the beach.
You can eat coconuts and pineapples in the forest.
You can play football;
eat chicken wings,
drink some Vodka,
your friends can have a cold beer,
you can drink some bitter Wine and more with your friends.
I miss life.
I miss the way everything can seem so natural.
I miss the way things can seem so random.
I miss the way you can run into people by chance.
I miss girls with pretty hearts.
I miss women that hug me tight.
I miss people that love me and care about me.
I always remind myself to live hard and love hard.
Love pure love and appreciation.
[Pandemic poem by Punty...]
This episode was truly well done!
Thanks for always updating the news in the city
Wow..very informative....thank you! Mary Brown's is CDN! Wow
Brandon you always have your finger on the pulse. Thank you for your wonderful reporting.
Didn’t even know that Little Jamaica existed.. Lived in T.O. for 15 years.
Funny how the best episode yet is called "stop the foolishness" should have been stap the foolishness 🤣. We definitely need Caribana this year in some capacity to help generate revenue for the city. Little Jamaica needs much more support from the city. To just gentrify the neighborhood for LRT is sickening! They would never do such a thing Greek, China, Korean Town etc
GO DEH MAAS BRANDON. LOVE DI VIBES. Respect
I haven’t been to Little Jamaica in a long time. It used to be my old stomping grounds. So sad to see all those businesses closed up.
It’s a story everyone needs to hear about!
Thank you for shedding light on Little Jamaica and Tiny homes 🙌🏾 Absolutely love and support your show
Ya man fi real have to save little Jamaica it's rough up there right now
I spent many Sundays in Little Jamaica. The Branding should have happened years ago. Hope for the best for the businesses
The area has so much history!
Thank you for talking about lil Jamaica because what the LRT is doing is wrong and it has been so intentional and strategic to destroy a neighbourhood.
Khalil should be partnered with the city. I am sure he could give good ideas about the homeless situation
We agree!!
Sooo informative
Glad I found your new show
I emailed my suggestion for you to talk about Little Jamaica thank you so much for talking about it on your show. 🙏🏾
“My lips are dry” 🤣🤣🤣 frequent moisturizer is necessary during these times. I have at-least two chapsticks on hand every where I go.
The City need to partner with Khalil to help the homeless.
thanks, Brandon.
he said covid has had a better impact than the construction -- that's rough!!!
That was such an eye opening moment for us!
De more dem fight we, a di stronger we get! 🇯🇲
They could read the land acknowledgment in stead of playing the anthem. Great show, Brandon!
Hi Brandon, watching from Vancouver. Kudos to you for betting on yourself. First watched you on The Social and started following you on insta. It’s wonderful to see you following your dreams and I’m so proud of you for telling our stories. I watch every week and re watched this episode again!! I always leave informed, entertainment, happy and curious! Keep up the good work and Thanks for doing this. Blessings❤️🙏
I think the anthem gives everyone in the stadium a few minutes of personal reflection and appreciation before playing a competitive match on this great land we call Canada!
And why is the construction going on for years!!! Save Little Jamaica 🇯🇲
I used to live just off of Caledonia road when I was younger and my grandpa used to take me to little Jamaica every weekend. It’s changed so much over the years, west side mall looks nothing like it used to. It’s sad what’s happening to these businesses
Little JA
As someone who's played sports all my life, I personally like hearing the national anthem before hitting the track, especially when I was playing in the US. I support those who want to kneel, but I don't think the reason for cancelling the National anthem should be because no one is there to spectate. It's a moment for the athletes too.
Great point!
Yes man when we coming from party a night or morning time, you can always rely on likkle Jamaica for some jerk chicken. Please don't let them take it away. 🥲🥺
Gentrification is also happening on Weston Road (York) too ...Dollarama and Church's Chicken ain't fooling nobody 😂😂😂
Facts lol
Big big facts! 👏🏾👏🏾
The city needs to have several seats. Homelessness in Canada is a serious problem. Toronto has several vacant properties / parking lots owned by the city that can be converted into safe housing for the homeless. The city should start working with Kahleel and provide fire proof materials to make these tiny homes better. Once those buildings are made safe the city can stipulate safe places that they can be installed on.
Exactly, since the fires are a problem then the city needs to provide adequate housing. We have a larger homeless population than the space to house them. It would be great with Kahleel also.
One thing he has done by building these tiny houses is raising a lot of awareness about the often forgotten homelessness crisis in Toronto.
We appreciate your take!
Kudos Brandon for trying to be Bilingual 👍🏾!
Good content. I watched the "You're doing too much" segment twice because 😂😂😂
Loved that you enjoyed it!!
Love the show brother! Top tier content 🙌🏾
I agree with the idea of not playing the anthem. Personally, I've always skipped it while watching games. As someone who is also a soccer fan, I find it really strange. "God Save the Queen" isn't being played before English Premier League games for example. The anthems aren't being played in other countries either.
Gentrification at it’s finest . Sad to see all of these little cultural hubs being removed in such a diverse city. Need to do better
When they brand the are "little Jamaica" with a sign it should say "Likkle Jamaica"
BG You Are A Light Shining it on the Path and Leading the Way 🙏🏾 #BGSQUAD
Instead of working against him work with him period....!
The city needs to do more for the homeless populism the streets. Not all homeless people feel they fit in at typical homeless shelters! They are treated terribly by the other occupants and sometimes scorned! It affects them even more mentally you can just imagine how they are treated that they would rather sleep outside in the cold.
Brandon look dapper…lovin da attire, clean caaaaan done!!!
100th like! And yay you covered the topic! 👏🏼
Hi Brandon im curious is there any organization thats gearded towards helping black families purchase a home. I mean i not looking for hand out my thing is the banks will tell u oh u cannot afford a more than 450k house as a couple when our rent is 2063 per month and if we were to buy a house our mortgage for 550k house would be between 1500 to the same 2000 per month. Its ridiculous that rent is more than mortgage but and you pay it plus bills plus parking but then they say you can't qualify for a good house. So my question is many other races like indians chinese have organization or entities that ensure that they succeed in this regard is are any help for black families.

11:35 let us know as you do a stiff wine,,,, man I just dropped off my couch with that one watery eyes and all 😂
😭😭😭
Playing the national anthem is a North American sport thing. To my knowledge, the anthem is never played at football (soccer) matches anywhere else in the world other than the MLS. Not played at rugby or cricket (local) matches or leagues either. Never seen it in the EPL, La Liga, even the Champions League matches. It's only at the World Cup or a continental tournament. It makes no sense in the NHL now since all the Canadian teams are playing each other in the Canadian bubble. There is no international play right now so it seems unnecessary. Having said that, I think many people would not know the national anthem if it wasn't for hearing it at sporting events. Not sure how many schools still make students sing it daily or weekly.
250% increase can be easily misinterpreted. Lets have the specific number of incidences when comparing 2019 to 2020
great episode!
Can you put a link of the poem in the video description?
Link the time stamps please!
Little Jamaica is done. It started with the constant construction and now covid shut downs was the nail in the coffin. The people who came down here and started a business in the early 70s should have saved money to own property. Black people don't come together. That's the main issue. Now what happened in regent Park will happen on eglinton.
Great ep! Mary browns has me hungry lol
Downloading the app right now
Been liking Mary browns since I was a kid Growing up in the 80s 😋😋 no kfc in our house it was all MBs
Bro! I love hearing good news, scary times 🙏🙏🙏
DOPE!!!! EP YO
I think the city should give him a spot for these tiny shelters. Unless they like seeing ppl homeless and out in the cold.
Love this show keep it up Brandon
I didn’t even know Marry Browns was Canadian

I think we will see many many more Police Officers being charged in the Tow Truck Corruption thing. Wouldn't be at all surprised if even some OPP Officers are involved too.

not all black people want to continue this perpetual cycle of recounting black trauma of Americans. look to Canadian examples. how many years will we have to do this.
the black experience is layered. I want to see stories of black excellence period. make poems about the Tessa brown's savior dr. micheal
