- Hey Horse Lovers! Just over a year ago I met the most handsome horse at a big auction in Ohio. I was immediately obsessed and could not bear the thought of losing him during the bidding process! Fast forward one year later and Jafar is my beautiful, talented, amazing mount. In this video I'm going to show you the whole process of what we did over the last 12 months to develop Jafar into the horse that stands in front of us today. I will share our experience along with some tips, tricks, and advice when it comes to revitalizing a horse who came from nothing. As always, Enjoy the ride!

Jafar is a 6 year old Friesian Heritage Horse (Friesian/Standardbred) and he's 15.1hh. I met him at an auction where he was said to have little under saddle training. Jafar has now experienced many different situations and is a kind, intelligent, versatile mount. He is my black beauty!

He looks amazing!!!! Congratulations Shae.... Jaffar have found the best possible house and one day, he will become someone else's trusty horse!!!
Yes! Thank you. Means a lot ❤️💕🐎
I just realized It looks like I go to the same mount hope action that you went to. I go there all the time because my grandparents live there. 😆 Jafar is just so beautiful I would love a horse like that ❤️
How cool!!! Thank you. ❤️
I dig your process and outpouring of love and respect for each horse. They flourish in your care. Keep up the good work.
Again Shae this is why you have my utmost respect & admiration. Your dedication in bringing a horse to this level by working with them is awesome. The relationship between horse & rider, in this case Jafar is extrordinary😊😊😊❤❤
Awee not too many people give kill pen and auction horses the same fair chance and understanding. I will never forget the undefeated show jumping horse Snowman.
He looks like what she said a Frisian x Friesian/ standardbred
Magnificant Jafar. what a handsome boy. The work you both have put in shows so much. just amazing.
What a beautiful boy. You have done an amazing job with him. I’m with you on the training. You don’t have to be a professional trainer to do this. All you need is love and hard work. Trust is the biggest thing you’ll ever have with your horse. If you have that than great and amazing things are going to happen.
I bought an Arabian mare who was only used as a brood mare and had 4 foals and she was only 8. I took my time with her and in the end she was my heart horse. She would stand next to be with no halter in the middle of the arena while I was doing lesson with the kids. Truly my best friend. It’s not the breed of horse you have it’s the time trust and love that you give them that makes them the great horses they become.
Thank you! That’s amazing. I definitely think in your case it took skill. Which you have :). Riding, building trust, connection all take practice, talent, and skill. ❤️❤️❤️
@@freespiritequestrian it takes a lot of love to do what you do. I loved training my mare. She became my best friend and trusted companion. Love what you do with the horses and the kids you teach.♥️👍😁
@@cyndiebill6631 What a wonderful story of adoption! She loves you so much, standing next to you without halter. Wow!
He looks wickedly gorgeous in that red and black your such a good horse momma
Thank you! ❤️❤️❤️
you've talked about strengthening the back a few times. could you do a video on explaining that & what all it entails some time? ty.
OMGOSH Shae, that was such a beautiful video 💕. All the hard work you've put into Jafar has really paid off. The change in him from the way he looked to the way he moves is so fanominal. He looks magical. You took this sad diamond in the rough and in a very short time, turned him into a confident GEM!! He truly is magnificent 😍. He felt your love immediately, therefore trusted you immediately, you are now so in tune with one another..... Your like the perfect dance partners, and it's beautiful to watch. Congrats Shae, you did it AGAIN 👍. I also loved watching you together hacking out in Tennessee in the tall green grass. Made me cry 😢 with happy tears, because it was just so magical to watch. Blessings 🙌 Jennifer 💞
It was crazy to see it all when I was putting the video together. Thank you!!!!! He’s such a unique guy.
Shae, you received a n A plus from the horse training critic named Raleigh. You are the first time she has ever given total approval of a trainer and thier methods. No surprise to your viewer's. Jaffar is a do it all horse, a dream come true. He is the kind of super classy horse that people have dreams about, in that Fresian stand out beauty. So proud of you. . . keep teaching, so many horse's life's will be healthier and ha from these methods. GOD BLESS!!!
I saw that! I was so amazed 💖. Thank you!
He's amazing , so beautiful you are a great trainer.. you are lucky to have each other
It's so amazing how much better he looks and moves already. He's beautiful.
Thank you so much 😊
It is so great how your horse 🐎 Shae is so good with everything 💚💙
This was a wonderful video. In school we watched sped-up movies of a seed germinating, growing roots and vegetation and finally blooming. This was the horse version of that.
How cool!!!! Thank you 😊
The Fresian horse is my most favourite breed. I have only just found your channel and I am hooked. Thank you for working and loving this young boy. I love the way you work you are a gentle and gracious lady.
Thank you! I really appreciate that.
Absolutely love how you developed his potential
You do everything with your horses with so much love in your heart Shay. You treat them with kindness and respect it is no wonder you have a barn full of happy horses! 🐎❤
Awwww thank you so much 😊
Yeah, yo did it right. Most friesians have problems with their balans because of their long neck. But they learn fast. Very sweet horses, the friesians. They love trailrides.
He has found a good home and family. 💞👍
Yes so true! Thank you 😊
Yes so true! Thank you 😊
Horses can be such great students. You just gotta make it interesting and fun for them and you do.
Yes that’s so true.
Jafar captured my heart ♥️ I watched when you found him and took him home and made him part of your herd family! He’s gorgeous and I feel his energy spirit too!! He’s my fav 🐎♥️
He has come so far! Thank you 🖤✨🐎
I love this thank you for sharing. I wish we were in the same country I would love to be one of your students. Ps I have a little Billy goat called Jaffar, hes gorgeous too. From my heard to yours with much love xxx

🖤🐎💎
What a beauty and you're training is spot on.
I try! ❤️. Thank you!
He is so beautiful!!
Love❤❤❤❤ he is stunning. Line
SHAE, YOU ARE PHENOMENAL ON THE WORK AND TIME YOU, AND I SHOULD SAY, "AND" KYLE AS WELL .... I'M SURE HE HELPED OUT IN ONE WAY OR ANOTHER, HOW THE BOTH OF YOU PUT IN THE EFFORT TO HELP JAFAR FROM BEING AN AUCTION HORSE. YOUR TRAINING IS AMAZING, A LOT OF WORK AND JAFAR LOOKS SPECTACULARLY STUPENDOUS !!!
HIS TRANSFORMATION IS WONDERFUL, IN THE SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME YOU PUT INTO HIM. AND IT IS HARD WORK, TAKES TIME, PATIENCE, CONSISTENCY, CARING, KINDNESS AND LOVING, TO GET THE
HORSE'S TRUST TO ACCOMPLISH WHAT YOU HAVE TRANSFORMED TO BE.
I'M SO GLAD YOU WON HIM AT THE AUCTION, BECAUSE YOU NEEDED HIM AS MUCH AS HE NEEDED YOU.
HE HAS INSPIRED YOU ON YOUR LIFE, AS YOU HAVE SAID, AND YOU INSPIRED HIM ON HIS JOURNEY, AS WELL.
🙏🏻💗🥰🐎🥰💗🙏🏻
GOD BLESS THE BOTH OF YOU.😌🌷💖🐎🐴🤤🐎
The love ❤ you have for your horses shows. You bring the best out of these beauties. Letting go must not be easy.
How do you pick the best owner?
May your heart continue beating strong for the most beloved horses in your care...
What an amazing horse he's a beautiful you have done a great job well done 😊
Thank you so much!
Shea, Jafar cracks me up how he used to kick out his big front feet and is now so much more comfortable in himself. No wonder you fell in love! 🙂🙃😉💟
He’s so funny. Thank you 💗
Shea I would love to see you do a video dedicated to how you got into horses, when and how you gain all your horse knowledge and experience, how long you been riding. You have a lot of good knowledge and would love to know how others can start getting horse knowledge where to start for a beginner💗♥️🐎🐴
Hi! I’m planning on it! That video will take a long time to plan and edit so it’s in the works. I plan to post it by the end of the year at the latest.
@@freespiritequestrian wonderful! You inspire me so much on how you train and take care of your horses ♥️
I would love a video like that. It would be awesome meeting you and your horses and farm!!! You inspire me!!!!
I'm glad you post your hoses history it is especially
Nice for new viewers thank
You so much , it builds his
Fan base for sure 🐴
My pleasure!
Jafar's transformation is amazing. I love how you work with your horses, nice and slow to earn their trust. You my friend are the best! When I see the love that you give your horses, I'm in awe. That great big hug you gave Jafar, I just loved it. Why can't animal owners of: horses, dogs, cats etc. treat them with the love and respect that they deserve? I don't know, I guess I'll never understand it. Thank you? You make my day each time I see your videos and thankful that I found your channel. I'm only 7 months away from catching up. Yay!
Absolutely loved watching this transformation over time, and your voice-over explaining how you did this. Looking forward to similar videos of your other horses.
Glad you enjoyed it!
What an amazing journey the two of you have had together. Your instincts are spot on with your ground work and strengthening. Congratulations on a beautiful transformation!
Are you going to try any dressage shows with him? He looks amazing and is confident now
I don’t compete in dressage (I have in the past). I don’t want to get into it here, but I have my reasons why.
Someone needs to teach me how to love a horse seriously......
💖
He looks amazing! I think he really enjoys those trail rides!
Thank you! Yes I think so too ❤️
So beautiful
Thank you for giving Jafar his best life.
Having subscribed to the friesian channel I was impressed with a friesian being at an auction and this boy is gorgeous! Congrats for being able to purchase him and make him into an all around wonderful riding companion!
Wow, he is a real beauty! 👍👍❤️🤍💙🇺🇸☀️🌼🌻🌺🌸
Thank you! He has a great energy and look. ❤️

Yayyyy what a BEAUTIFUL video! Thank you so much for documenting and sharing with us 💕 this is valuable for us to see 🌻
Awww you’re welcome!!!! It was a fun video to make ❤️
So amazing to watch his transformation! You’re such an inspiration!!
Another great vlog. Love that Jaffar has come on so well. Well done you he is a great horse.
Thank you!
I'm so excited to hear you mention BEMER! It's probably my favorite tool in our wellness toolbox. 😍
It’s wonderful!
What a dream come true! Congratulations!
Thank you!
Is there any horse you can't ride, Shae? You managed the Friesian animation, and your riding bitless in the indoor arena with reins in your right hand was the most perfect canter I've seen ~~ so in sync with Jafar.
You remind me of the European trainer who breathes into their muzzles and is always loving on her Friesians. Wonderful video, and I really hope this is one you're going to keep after Jiminy and J.
What an excellent horse woman and trainer you are, really awesome! My first time seeing a Friesian jump the vertical, and seeing a Western saddle on one, wow! And you built up his back muscles as Friesians have that congenital sloop.
Out on the trail when you went camping, it looked like Jafar was doing a little dressage dancing as you cantered. Lovely filming of that gait! He's not only so handsome but so happy!
This made my whole day!!!! Thank you. I try to continue my learning as much as possible. I always have room to improve but I try my best day by day. I’m thankful I’ve had the opportunity to ride many different breeds and train them as well. It’s a privilege that I don’t take for granted. Thank you again for your kind words. Hearing that inspires and motivates me even more! 😊❤️💕
He's so gorgeous! Definitely looks much better than when you brought him home 😂
He’s come sooooo far!
You’ve been here since the beginning!!!! ❤️
Jaffar is getting better! He’s doing amazing and I love his red tack to! Hope he’s doing good now
Thank you! Yes he’s great.
Now that is time and patience the bond like that Good job I Am happy for you
Yes! It’s so rewarding ❤️
@@freespiritequestrian 😁
Yep Horse Lovers... Another Excellent Video... It is easy for even someone (me) whose only horse experience is one of those "first few dates" You want to go horse riding? And you go rent a horse for an hour to see Shea is really Good and Devoted to her horses and their care !
Haha! In those cases I recommend lessons 😂
Jafar is definitely one of my favorites!
He’s a special guy!
Jafar is truly one of my favorite UA-cam horses! 😍
That’s so cool!
I’m so excited for this new vid!
❤️
nice
❤️
I like jafar the most he's beautiful. nice job
Thank you ❤️
In anycase he is stilltoo young. His behind is already muchstronger, that's nice.
Yes, plus it’s just the breeding and his conformation. Luckily we can still improve!
ou have done wonders. Step by step I see the real Friesian in him. Even the rolling trot is com in g back. One day he will bring the harvest in for you, all troting!
Thank you! I actually do not want him trotting in such ways. It hollows out the back. :)
I loved watching this. It really inspired me and made me look at how I train my 4yo differently. Also for neck ropes, do you use like a specific brand or just a rope with the ends tied together? I want to try riding with a neck rope on my horse I just don’t want it to rub and hurt him.
looks like he has a niece extended trout
I did a little research
Jafar means stream
Thank you! ❤️
Love it💛
❤️❤️❤️❤️
So cute
Thanks 😊
Great video, he has come a long way and you can see the change in him. Are you going to keep him?
Thank you! No, he is for sale.
@@freespiritequestrian I'm sure you will make sure he finds the most perfect home.
💕😄👏👍💞
❤️❤️❤️
Please explain what collection is I'm a novice and want to learn more
There isn’t a definite definition when it comes to horses. Essentially, I view collection being when the horse is carrying themselves in full harmony with the rider and not being forced into a frame, but instead engaging their entire body naturally with strength that has been built up over time.
So beautiful thank you for sharing
Thank you for watching and commenting ❤️
Do you guys do English riding lessons? I'm trying to find a place for them and also I was wondering..
Do you know where some show jumping shows are?
Yes we do :). Depends on the area in regards to shows.
I’m flying from Oregon to visit family in Newago County MI this week. Are you near there by any chance?
How cool! However, we do not accept visitors or tours at this time. But I appreciate that! ❤️
@@freespiritequestrian I understand!
Hes so gorgeous 😍 btw how much did you get him?
Quite a bit lol
What kind of ground work do you do on the ground as ground work to help them not buck etc on bond?
It’s not about getting them “not to buck” it’s about establishing a connection and promoting relaxation so they never feel the need to. I do a mix of in hand work, lunging, energy balancing, playing, grooming, massage/body work techniques, etc
@@freespiritequestrian I'm so glad to see you say this! I have always felt this instinctively & knew it felt right for me. I'm not a trainer, just a horse lover. I respect your opinion so much, & to see you say this has really boosted my own confidence too. Your channel always helps me learn something new & be a better human to horses.
Thank you!
Quick question, I see that he holds his tail to the side A LOT, please explain.
Breed characteristics and genetics. He’s been fully vetted and checked. Some can have lameness issues but this isn’t the case with Jafar.
What does his name mean ?
It’s from Aladdin the Disney movie ❤️
@@freespiritequestrian he is a magical beauty
he dont walk like a real friesan
Yeah He’s a cross.
