ARLO: Arlo is a sweet, silly gelding who is full if fun and joy! He is a 9-year-old Spotted Saddle Horse and he is gaited. He stands 15hh and is built stocky. I have owned him for over 3 years and he is a great horse to ride in the ring and out on the trail.

the next gait above a walk on a gaited horse is a showily and the next gait is called favorite gait I own four gaited horses you are also not supposed to post on a gaited horse and the more you canter him it is going to mess up his gait

@@10eisai have heard of this before. Is it because if they are gaiting properly you wont need to post? (What if its still too bumpy?)
Can you elaborate why cantering too much will inhibit the gait? Im thinking it messes with muscle development and movement patterns...appreciate your thoughts thank you

Arlo is suuuch a calm little sweetheart - the way he nearly falls asleep with you around because he's so comfortable just shows how amazing and trusting the relationship between you two is ♥
This is why Shae is one of the most admired horse women. She cares about her horse ,she puts them first and she loves them and they love her back. She is gentle with them and they are gentle back! Respect coming and going!
He was obviously taught correctly from a young age to have respect for people. They are not born that way. He and all her horses r great. She has done a good job with her babies not letting them be Naughty they two are being very good and respectful
The sunshine on his coat gave him a pearly glow. And he has a such a sweet face, especially in the pink halter.
What a beautiful day for a ride! Arlo is a very beautiful horse and I LOVED the kisses all over his face for Valentine's Day! Even funnier is the fact that the kisses are still faintly visible on him. =) Loved this video. I really, really love the riding tips and horse knowledge you give us during your videos. I've never owned a horse (to my sadness) but I became "horse crazy" around 10 years old after reading Black Beauty, the Black Stallion, the Misty books, etc... And I'm now 63! One of my top five "fun things to do" is still petting horses which unfortunately doesn't happen but maybe once a year. All this to say that's why I love your videos so much...especially the "day in the life of" showing daily life with horses. Thank you for everything you do for your viewers.
When I see Arlo's canter, I think of the word, "lope." I think it describes it best. He's such a sweetie. 😊

This video made my heart happy today. I've been a horse lover since age 2 (yes, I remember even though it was 63 years ago!) but my parents never had the means to afford riding lessons. Now I get to live vicariously through your videos - and learn so much along the way. I love that Arlo got his treat at the end...such a good boy! (I also own & love your Piaffe Plum!)

He’s a beautiful horse. As a kid in the 70s, the way I learned to canter was being thrown on a horse for trail rides with a guide who was only 14 or 15 themselves. If we were lucky, we’d get to canter. No helmets. No instructions. Pure fun. But then, people didn’t wear seatbelts, dogs ran around the neighbourhood off leash and kids played outside all day without adult supervision.
Such a healthy way to be a kid!

Arlo is so chill! I remember learning to canter when I was very young and not being able to steer! Hahaha luckily I don't have that issue now and thankfully I had a great schoolmaster growing up, he was like arlo very laid back and steered for you 😂

Now, that took me right back to my youth, riding on a muddy and crusty horse during winter. ;-) I found canter much easier than trot, but then I didn't ride a gaited horse. However, I once rode an Icelandic horse that tølted, and that was terrific. 🙂

This is exactly what I needed! I'm relearning how to canter after a 2 year break, and when I'm sitting the canter it feels like I'm going to fly out of the saddle unless im holding onto the saddle (which is okay with the horse I'm on). My instructor ensures me it doesnt look like im gonna fall at all, but it is so rocky compared to the horse I cantered on years ago, who had a flatter canter, and I don't know how to get the confidence back to canter without grabbing and still being able to steer

I know a lot of people needed that advice on how to canter and tips. It is faster specially on a forward horse. So doing it on a lunge line could help so that you can get your horse to a halt. Also with canter try to do it on a slower horse, then just go faster, faster until you can go on a forward horse. But obviously its not that simple and you need to practise more. So keep trying you will get it and the more you fail the more you learn. So if you fall off get back on :) ❤❤❤❤
