He’s absolutely amazing!!! His coat went from almost a buckskin to a seal brown!!! You’ve done amazing work with him and I’m sure you can get some good money out of him he’s like a dream horse so me!
I bought a horse from the meat man (UK terminology ) was a 3yr old in a dreadful way feet like clogs, malniurished, ring worm, got bloods done luckily he was only anemic got that sorted along with his deworming, feet took a lot longer. Spent a lot of time out in the field with my others, he is now 8yrs old and we are about to start our 1st season at 3 star level in eventing. Please keep us all updated with your progress, and journey through life together 👍🇬🇧🏇🏇🏇
Poor love suffered and with love and attention you have a beautiful horse. He will do amazing things given half a chance. Well done and thank you for giving a life back.❤️
You have done a marvellous job on his training and he clearly trusts you and is willing to try for you. His rearing & nerves will dissolve with time as he develops confidence in himself and experience with the sort of things he won't have met in race training (hacking away from other horses, being ridden out just him and his rider, collected movements etc.) he's still very young and your progress with him will take time and patience. I've had several TBs over the years (usually rejects from racing) and I've never met a "nasty mean" one; any giddiness with them is usually their nerves, they are often more reactive than say quarter horses and though their racing training will have taught them to load, travel, stand for farrier etc. they may never have been introduced to the sort of lessons a regular riding horse has by that age. All the best with Romeo he is a lovely horse and you are clearly a skilled intelligent trainer.
Wow from being like a silver buskin to being and stunning seal bay snd then became a normal bay u did a,axing and I love this and many other or ur videos keep up the good work❤️can’t wait for more videos like this one and many others have a amazing day and a shout out would be a,aging Ty❤️
Sadly the racing industry is brutal, i grew up with my parents being big fans of this sport and them having friends that had a horse racing stable in Germany. These people started training the horses at 1,5 years old, and the horses started going to competitions at just 2 years, sometimes older (the competitions are pure stress for them, some even get their tongue tied to their lower jaw so that they are better to control 😢).They were in their stables 23 hours and had 1 hour of intensive training every day (definitely very depressing). All of this is sadly very normal in every racing stable. Mostly the horses have to stop their career at 4 or younger because of injuries like tendon ruptures and they are getting sold for very low prices or even brought to the slaughterhouse. When they come to the new owner, they are often very traumatized and hard to work and ride with. So they are getting sold and sold and sold, because no owner is able to handle them. At the end they are most likely to end up at the slaughter house.I feel so incredibly sad for these horses and i am so happy that you saved him!
Aww that’s so sad poor horses don’t have much of a life at the track..😢 it’s so nice when someone saves one from the slaughter house give them a second chance at a great life❤
"some even get their tongue tied to their lower jaw so that they are better to control". FALSE. Tongue tying is not for "control".🙄 One doesn't control a horse by tying its tongue to the lower jaw. "Tongue ties are designed to keep the horse’s airway open by preventing the soft palate from displacing. By holding the tongue in place, they ensure that the airway remains unobstructed, allowing the horse to breathe freely".
Horses deserve better than to be races. My mare is an OTTB and she hates bits so much. She also get really nervous and I got her when she was 15. Her owner worked really hard with her but then she got really hurt. 6 months later k pretty much have this horse with no muscle in the middle of winter being ridden every so often. Now (8 months after purchase) she is getting over her nerves, jumping 60cm consistently being ridden about once a week (or whenever my mom comes out) and we are making so much progress
My trainer bought a horse from her friend who had just rescued him from the slaughter house. She started putting my sister on him because she didn’t really have a horse that she got along with super well. They instantly clicked, and her and my trainer have been working with him, and he is now a thriving saddle seat horse (with a few problems ofc, but he is working on it)!! This was very inspiring, thank you!!!
Amazing work! Love your inspirational journey and great way to start finding his safe next home via posting his journey. This will attract a wonderful buyer.💛.
Loved this 😊😊 he's sore in his left hind - if you look at his canter he leaves it behind a lot. Could explain his trouble centering right as they strike off opposite hind. A good body worker should help him 😊
i love him so much! he is adorable ❤️ i love thoroughbreds so much! i wish i had one of my own. i love to see these transformations and this is truly amazing!
i keep watching this vid over and over just because i love how you did such an amazing job❤️ i almost rescued a ex race as well but than my barn didn’t want to take care of him😔 and i had no where else to keep him.
Sounds like his fear from horses running up behind him to pass him always led up to him getting smacked to run faster. That’s probably why he has that fear.
So I have a barrel horse but I want to try jumping so just give me a notice if you didn’t sell it or if you sold them because I really am looking into one I’ll have to ask my parents but I think you’ll be good
Great video! Just one suggestion for next time: a lot of trainers believe that if a horse is strong, the rider should work more on groundwork and training in general instead of just switching to a stronger bit.
You are an angel-just of course get the kindest home-that is the most important-you are amazing!!!!!!Love him--I have 2 rescues at my home forever. They are like twins Bay with whire-on is draft and TB and Half Dutch-given to me with malnutrition and I could not touch her-even now if she feels not full she gets edgy-she is an easy keeper-The other was a baby mustang -Morgan DNA starved -without meaning to at a rescue with dusty horrible donated hay They are both blooming and loved now.
I'm only asking because I'm curious, but why did you leave twice for relatively long periods during his training? (iirc once for a full month and second time for 3 weeks) I don't really get that.
I like giving my young horses breaks in their training ☺️ to play in turnouts with other horses. they come back calmer and happier. I want them to think training is fun so don’t want to overdo it.
Very different from the stereotypical "horse training" most people (me included!) see in movies and tv. I'm glad it's not always like how it's depicted :)@@stable-talk

A wonderful job at this rescue horse rehabilitation for good health and training. So sad to see horses that have such potential are not given proper care and sent to slaughter because they may not have shown a profit on the race track.
