Your fathers mechanical skills seem endless . He can do it all , and to perfection ! A great asset he is to your project . As far as your mom goes , she seems to always have a cleaning rag or paint brush in her hand . Her contribution far exceeds any expectation that any mom would do for their child's boat project . You're blessed Mark to have such great parents.
Your channel works best when your parents are with you, helping out and guiding you. Awesome and unique.... love it
@@iangowdy3263🤗🤗🤗
....We feel blessed🤗
No way this guys name is mark
What video have you been watching 😂😂😂
Mark describing his parents "They're so hard working and all they need is cups of tea - and perhaps a kebab - and they're happy" 🤣
Happyness is... 😉🧙♂️😂 and a curry when you push the boat out.🇬🇧🤣💙
Mum see if you can dig out some curtains to close off the sleeping areas... If they are up to the job they will keep the boat warmer ...like in an inner tent in a frame tent.
These days they even make make insulated and dark inners for tents used in cold weather .. 24 hr artic light.
Some no see um mesh for any hatches will keep the little biters out while at anchor. 🦟🦟 are spreading into Northern Europe.. and the Med already has the problem.
And Scotland its massed Midges 😬
Whenever I see Mark’s mum/dad on film- can’t help but think if there were more people like them around, we wouldn’t all be in this mess.
Thank you, Mum and Dad for helping your son with his boat!🥳👍🥰🇸🇪
🤗
Children learn more by what our parents do ...rather than say.👍🏼

Same for teaching them Mary ...
😉 same problem. 🧙♂️
If i was in Marks place i would hold fire on those Motors.... Mabe borrow a pair for a channel crossing or a single larger four stroke or Diesel outboard ... unless someone makes him an offer he cannot refuse🧜♀️🧚. 😁
Things are changing so fast even the ICE cars are looking iffy. 🤔

He might yet be able to produce a hybrid ...
Theres also a ketch rigged Pahi 42 recently being painted up on U Tube in Portugal.
Love when your parents visit, the two nicest people in the world. I could listen to your mum talk all day
It's clear to see how you turned into such a great guy when you have parents like yours
The episodes with your parents are awesome ❤
I aspire to be that kind of parent that can make crazy dreams I barely understand happen for my children.
To all the mums and dads out there, for all your unsung efforts we salute you ❤✊🏻🏴
Since you asked Mark, you simply cannot beat the security of having new engines installed 😊. I’ve just bought a new engine for my boat and knowing it’s going to start every time I need it is a huge relief 😮💨
I recall your Dad sorting that engine out on the catamaran. Top bloke he is.
He is awesome
Thanks for posting and sharing. Kudos to the parents. Loved your Mum’s comment “I’ve been 33 for 34 years.”
As the father of two sons about your age, I can tell you that there is nothing your parents would rather be doing than helping you achieve your dreams. Enjoy it. Relish it.
4000 more for two NEW engines will not break the "bank" and will greatly enhance your peace of mind and safety. Great job.
That is Each engine! Getting 2 used he help his dad do a full service on both and still come out way ahead.
It is so nice you acknowledge and support how great and helpful your parent's have been because many young people do not.
I sit here and, like your parents, mine, who are nearing 90 years old, have encouraged me to live my life on my own terms and guess what? They still encourage me to live my life as the best version of me! You and your parents remind me how lucky we are in a world of self-interest and greed! Love your efforts and look forward to you crossing the Pacific in grand style.
I can’t think of a more supportive and wholesome couple than your parents.
Marc, I would really strongly encourage you to take another look at the engineering of those engine sleds. Not only have you got the entire thrust to move a large boat moving through two small bolts, those will be subjected to a lot of torsion in multiple dimensions, but particularly yaw, which is the rotation seen from the top. this is going to happen, because the boat does not simply move forward in the water. but is subject to a number of forces, including lifting, and dropping that will not be symmetrical. Once the thrust of an engine is misaligned with the centreline of the sled, those connection points look completely inadequate to absorb the force. It doesn’t really matter that those are low horsepower engines relatively speaking. It’s the mass of the boat that will be the factor and the amount of power that the waves around it can exert. The bolts themselves, cells, moving against a plywood hole are going to wear that hole away very quickly, and the more worn becomes the more movement there will be in the sled alignment which will tend to make this misalignment worse and worse.
At the very minimum you need some kind of large diameter bushing that sits between the wooden walls of the sleds and the bolts themselves. But done properly, you would have some form of blind bolt with No threads which won’t act as a kind of rasp or file against the wood. Another point is it those bolts are attached without any locknut, Loctite or peening over of the threads to prevent them from loosening up, or a lock nut, or all of these. Given the vibrational forces, it is guaranteed those will loosen up quickly and you will either lose engine or lose one side of the sled causing chaos.
He done them already though... Here my thought:
They could be upgraded reinforcing the ends (where the engine is clamped and the box hinged)
by doubling the thickness and or using angular metal brackets but most substantially reinforcing and encapsulating all with fiber glass, embedding a large extra strong stripe to hold and hoist them up.
Anyway just DO secure your engines with a lifeline to the beam itself !
If there was just a channel with your mom and all she did was just talk about random stuff, I'd watch that. She's just a sweet lady.
"@Mum & Dad Travel the World" is the channel we all need asap!
As so many commenters have noted, this is a supreme example of the power of family, community, unity and solidarity... somthing we can all be inspired by and learn from... well done all!!!
I'd love to learn more about your parents; they are amazing people with genuine humanity and skill. Thank you for sharing them with us. Mahi is getting all the love!
The square tubing is going to crush over time and the "clamps" will get loose. Put some spacers around the threaded rod inside the sq tubing! Probably want some tubing to protect the main beams from the threads. Great work!
I did hear his Dad say they were temp fix and he was going to use nylocks, but I am like you there is too much chance of it getting slack.
Exatly correct.
Yeah. This is a good observation, Mark. Please take notice, and keep an eye on it.
all fair comments, its a very dry fit at the moment
@@WildlingSailing
Of course you and your dad are not completely satisfied with this solution (we could hear and see this). Please kindly allow me to suggest something: Weld rectangle or square tubing to one side of the construction and strengthen it with triangular pieces of stainless steel. Although the bolts might still go through it, the load will be much better distributed on the beam. And the now U- shaped clamp will be much stronger. I suggest all this although I'm pretty sure that you too already thought similar. 2) Although I usually love over engineered constructions, I would use ropes instead of going with wire for the other side of the outboard motor holders. For instance Dayneema. To protect the rope from rubbing on the beam, you could maybe use neoprene rubber (glued on)? So there would be no need to drill into the beams.
Best regards, luck and health in particular. To all 3 of you of course.
Given the vibrations on the motor mounts, you definitely should use lock nuts everywhere.
Your parents are amazing!! And about the engines, remember you put your trust in those every time you need them. If its possible for you I would splash for brand new ones!
Honestly would keep the 2 strokes for now and use the money on the rig and sails
With your Mum and Dad helping the boat keeps looking better and better.
Your parents are amazing, i know you appreciate them but if its all you've known you wont realise how amazingly lucky you are. It is incredibly rare to have parents that provide so much help, support and fun. Well done mum and dad!!
My advice on the engines is treat yourself and buy new. You will have them a long time and the confidence you will have in their reliability and knowing only you have maintained them to a high standard is worth the money. If you splash out on nothing else i would say the engines are it.
Love the channel, keep living the dream!
Mum and Dad are legends! It’s all looking good Mark.
Mum and dad are still the best in our lives, thanks for the support we appreciate your time and effort to keep us happy at all times.🎉
😘
Mark you have such cool and supportive parents...you are blessed...the boat is really coming along nicely....cheers
A round of applause for Mary and Steve, the greatest parents ever! Love you guys!
Mark you are very fortunate to have two adorable parents who are helping you get the Wharram 42 sailing. No matter the suitation, they are there. The repainted cabin looks great.
Love your mum painting away..and your dad the quiet achiever...its a family affair !!!
Dear Mark,
It’s so good to see that your parents are supporting you with so much love for you but also for Mahi. Your mum realized magic in the look of the interior of Mahi. Your dad has done a great job with the engine boxes. It won’t take too much time before Mahi is ready for sailing ove the oceans. Willeke and I wish you lots of success with the rest of the refit of this old catamaran and look forward to your next vlog plus we send you and your parents love
Your mum and dad deserve a UA-cam channel of their own!
They've got one - Wildings Sailing :D but yes, they're such good people. They could do one called 'Wildings Parenting'

Make sure you tell your parents how much we here in the comments section love them!
Thank you🤗
Mom and dad are awesome and your skills have definitely improved since Minke. Great job.
you are lucky to have such sweet parents.
Have you put drain holes in the engine boxes to stop them becoming rain collectors Mark ? And well done mum and dad, your both legend's!
Mum's hilarious. "You know, I've been thirty-three for thirty-four years"
Your parents are a god send, shame you couldn't get the boat back to Blighty earlier in the process, but the Dutch folk have also been insanely helpful. Can't wait to see Mahi on the open water!
Will those engine boxes need drain holes?
Your parents are such a big help and so fun to watch.
Great progress!
Yes he should fit self draining bungs to the pods.
You mate are the definition of a truely wealthy man.👌
It's nice you got to spend time with your mum and dad and you got some extra help on you sailboat .. Great video thank you for sharing .. I am sharing it on my Facebook page. Cant wait to see you going on a sail in it . peace have a great day.
As a parent of 4 grown adults and 16 grandkids, your parents are doing what good parents do…..love and support their family
🎉 it's a pleasure seeing you work on your boat with such enthusiasm. Can't wait to see you sailing it
your parents are amazing - I never had a family like this, you are living the dream :-D
Mum needs her own channel she’s so charming
Your parents are treasures, but you know that. ❤❤❤
I would go for two new engines. You have the warranty of course, but also you will put them both on equal strain. They will have the same amount of running hours, so you will know the full history. With secondhand engines you can never be sure about the strain they where put on, and the amount of running hours will be a guest for you. The choice for Yamaha is a very good one though! Love the vids, so I'm looking forward to the next one! Cheers!
Well done to mum and dad...!!
I'm jealous... Not of the boats, but of your parents... I wish mine were still around and like that. :)
Your Mum n Dad add an awesome dimension to the channel! 👍
It does prove, with the right level of support you can do anything. Well done all.
Your parents are awesome!
Y'all will cherish these memories for the rest of your lives!
You have SUCH great parents! Much love to both of them. I really love seeing them on your channel.
PS to your MUM and Dad of course Mum comes first she paints Dad your brilliance is expected and Mark well nice job on the vid
So cool to see the progress and your parents, you really hit the jackpot in life with them ❤ give them a big hug! Can’t wait to see you flying over the waves.
It’s the best way to go, the engines. That is one thing not to mess with. Good choice on those IMAO. It’s worth the extra for new ones, still want to give them a good test and have something reliable stowed in case one dies at an inappropriate time is a thought comes to mind.
Just to add it’s really good seeing your folks again. Really enjoyed this episode. So close to finished, it’s really shaped up. Your mum and dad are real gems.
Good idea ...put a piece of SS tubing inside the square tubing mounts with washers inside to a tight fit to keep from crushin square tubing. Good job on the mounts.
How I wish my dad was here to share my adventure. In a way, he is as I have his ashes on the boat. Still, it would be great to have him here in person.
Mark, I love it when your mum and dad are there, they are great and I feel like you are less lonely with them around. They have great skills which they have passed to you
I’m not sure about your choice of boats but when it comes to picking parents you’ve scored First Prize!
Mark...your a LUCKY MAN...your are talented and able...we can see where you get it Mum and Dad are the best...It can be a struggle at times...dont let it get you down you got supportive parents and a bunch of us who want to see you succeed...Fair sails ahead...⛵
You have amazing parents. It's a true blessing to be able to help your own children. People that doesn't have children dont understand how fulfilling it is to be a part of their lives and contribute to their success. I guess you can just call it love.
Wonderful family! Parents and their support of us is priceless ❤
It's getting there mate 👍..... I absolutely adore your parents ❤️
Loving the consistent content. Your boat renovation stuff has been my favorite over the years. Cheers
Always look forward to your episode's. Awsome watching your progress.
Gotta love you're Mum & Dad..!! Mum says, "...In all my 33 years (I've been 33 years old for a long time now)..." Another classic Mary Quote. They are true gems, eh??
Have you thought about lock nuts on the front engine support clamps? They are subject to a lot of vibration and pounding, and I'd hate to see them come loose. But they are a work of art and very functional. You'll be so glad of the shape when servicing/repairing the engines, and you drop your 10mm socket only to find it lands in the safety of the box..!! So pleased for you, Mahi is coming on a treat.
Cheers from Adelaide, South Australia.
Grant.
fantastic parents!!
love to your Mom and Dad. its great to have ones that are always there for you! I've got some like that and i'm much better for it. great to see it elswhere!
Lucky Boy having such awesome parents.
Your Mom and Dad are Great I just Love Them!!!!!
You've heard it before, your parents are awesome! Boat is looking great! Keep on!!!!
Great to have such a supportive parents..in realising your dreams...lovely❤❤
It would be nice if your father was with you to look at those used engines. But I would have to agree with you about the Dutch people, and their consciousness to take care of their possessions.😊
your mum & dad are just next level of cool
The boat is coming along great looks like mom and dad are putting you over the top of getting your projects finished. Tip, if you are Caulking something, get yourself a warm to hot wet towel/ rag and where you want to remove excess, just water your finger (no gloves, just your finger) and with your wet finger wipe away the excess. When you get alot on your finger wipe it off on the towel/ rag it will come right off your finger. Wet your finger again and start wiping. As long as your finger is wet the Caulking will come right off. You can even use the warm wet towel/ rag to wipe things and the Caulking comes up. Wet finger leaves a nice finish look. Food for thought
Great video.
How good are your Mum and Dad 👍👍👍
Great progress - looks fantastic!
Enjoyed every single minute of our time with you Sparks!🤗
Your mum and dad are salt of the earth. True blue. Mum's painting pinny with the pink ugg boots 👢, a new look for the Netherlands 🇳🇱. 🐟
Thanks for sharing your experiences, you’ve been motivating to push forward with my sailing dreams. I mean that, cheers!
Your Parents Do such amazing work
Make sure you place spacers on your threaded rod so the square tube doesn’t compress when tightening and over time will not get loose
If wharram taught me anything through his design it was the strength of lashing. As synthetic fiber advances year over year i am more amazed by rope, knots, how to tie and create them and why. So, glass some stop blocks to the beam and use line to tie in and hoist the motors. Nothing wrong with your clamps. Id use a solid piece of rod and thread it to ensure that i have solid shoulders in the tube steel. Most aluminium masts are made that way then we load those bolts down with some 7000 lbs and no one says anything. But the threads in thread rod are indeed the weak link. Not the steel. If you have bolts turned you can have them drill through the threads for a cotter pin that'll double your safety if the nut starts walking. Dont forget your antisieze or tefgel. Those be some expensive bolts. You can glass plate steel in to spread the load as well. Just smack it on with some 404 then glass around it a bit. Its just holding on a plate. Angle iron on the bottom would be a good idea to as thats where itll push. Or dont do that at all and go sailing and do somthing about that later. I wouldn't fault you at all.
Love your mum! Painting with all her jewels.
Yay, I am always looking forward to seeing your video's, I live quite near to the station and I would be happy to buy you dinnner in my little local brown cafe in my street :-)
Great episode. If you can afford the new engines it could save you hassle in the long run, and you can get identical models so that maintaining them is easier.
Some nice coloured paints on the bulkheads would be nice.
Your mom and dad, lucky you! Your dad seems capable of anything when something needs service and his work is impeccable and your mom is proof that truly beautiful women can stay beautiful for life!
Daniel....I love you for that!🤗
Thanks for another great video. I use a rope and pulley set up on my yacht motor, I use 10mm dyneema( no stretch and stronger than steel) . This way you wouldn’t have to drill cross beam, just tie rope and pulley set up .
Love how this is a family group effort!
Your parents are really something! Lucky guys.. Congrats to them.
Your parents are epic !
Dad can build anything, and isn't he lucky to have a 33 year old spectacular wife... you are extremely lucky to have such support, the boat is coming along well.... it will be great to see it sailing in the future ...
