    I think with plastic, scratching over time will be a bigger concern than breaking it. So it's quite good you can replace parts separately.

    • @PatchedBandit
      @PatchedBandit  7 місяців тому +1

      Yep buying parts is essential for these. I have seen some of these being taped full black so I don't think a few scratches is a huge problem at least for me.

    Request: When you change tires, please make a quick run on tarmac between 60-100km/h and release handle bar to see does it wobble if you ride handless. Usually if the windscreen is installed in obtuse angle that could cause wobbling and instability, (physical law of air pressure)

    • @PatchedBandit
      @PatchedBandit  7 місяців тому +1

      Thanks! I will definitely do more testing when the weather eases up 🙂 I could do that now but the spikes are so unstable there's no point 😆.

    • @PatchedBandit
      @PatchedBandit  3 місяці тому

      Coming back to this now I haven't found any unstability on higher speed during my summer rides. Only thing I have noticed is that maybe impacts to the steering riding harder enduro high speed technical terrain is felt a bit more as there is more mass moving about but this is very minor and usually not even noticeable.
      Wind is definitely not giving me any stability issues though.

    Hyvännäköinen torni ja melko kirkkaat valot. Laitoin omaan CRF300 Rallyyn lisävalon niin näkee hyvin pimeälläkin.
    Sen omaa pleksiä muokkasin pystympään ja taitoin myös yläreunasta eteenpäin.
    Sain tabletin näyttöä siten viisosti paremmin luettavaksi ja muuttui myös paremmin ilmaa kypärän yli ohjaavaksi.
    Tuossa taitaa olla jopa vieläkin pystympi tuo pleksin asento.
    Vaikuttaa hyvältä.
    Rallyyn sovitin myös 250 Rallyn alasuojaraudan ja siihen sivuille pussukat. Rallyn katteista ja pussukoista saa hyvin viima ha sadesuojaa jaloillekin.
    Black Widow putki, ilmanoton modaus snorkkelista ja suodattimesta EJK seossäädön kanssa herätti mukavasti ja 14/42 rattaat.

  • @Allosaurus-B
    @Allosaurus-B 7 місяців тому

    thanks for a video. top notch work on the review - light comparison, air flow description. not a big fan of the looks, as neutral as stock for me, but somehow out of place… the fact that it does the air job (;)) done so well is the first reason i'd get it. second is horizontal bar to mount gps/phone - but are those two things worth paying for the whole package? by the way, i've done some dynamic riding in slovenian mountains/villages during the night and stock light was enough for what this bike is capable of. there was literally one, ok two moments when i felt i could have better vision. but i think 10€ flashlight mount could cover that. then it's up to you weather to mount wide light flood (like for camping, slow technical passages, corers) or narrow beam for faster sections. otherwise, in my opinion stock is nearly always enough. and again - solid work on the video, thanks!

      ah is the plexi further away from the rider? not cutting neck in case of something unexpected?

    • @PatchedBandit
      @PatchedBandit  7 місяців тому +1

      This is by all means not the most affordable way to do a light upgrade 😅 I think the price is ok if this is wat the byer is looking for exactly but other than that it is a lot of money to put on a cheap bike for sure.
      The plexi being a health risk is always something I have thought about too with a dualsport bike. I can't say that there is no risk with this one but at least the plexi is not bolted on so it might come off the bike more easier than most normal bolted solutions. Also the plexi is a bit more flexible so it is not as hard as for example my Tenere fairing is.. which is also bolted on so it's not going anywhere if I hit myself in it.
      The distance to the rider is shown pretty well on my youtube community page post. The second picture if you click the arrow or or swipe from the first one. There is some distance to the plexi but ofcourse its always possible to hit yourself in it if you are really unlucky.
      Setup like this can never be as safe as the enduro stock setup on the CRF. But also if you ride enduro with this bike you can just pull the plexi off and ride without it. No need for any tools and the light stays in its place.

    Your bike looks awesome! I think it looks better than the tower on my stock Rally. Not only that, the light points in the same direction you point the handle bars, which is nice. I rectified that problem though with pod lights mounted to the forks. now i have ample amount of light. The only difference now in your bike and the Rally version, is that the lower plastics on the Rally actually do divert the air around the lower portion of the body, offering slightly more wind protection. its not very much, but when its cold every little bit counts. I want to know how you like your rear view mirrors, do they offer just as much visibility as the stock mirrors?

    • @PatchedBandit
      @PatchedBandit  7 місяців тому +1

      They absolutely do not. You can see car lights and stuff like that but the visibility other than that is very compromised.. and you can't see much what is behind you due to the placement.
      I like the mirrors as they are not in the way when I load the bike to my van (very often) and they are not going to hit anything as easily as the normal mirrors do.
      But for actually good mirrors I would go for doubletakes or something like that. I just personally don't like the look of those adv mirros at all :D

    • @airadaimagery692
      @airadaimagery692 7 місяців тому

      @@PatchedBandit thanks. Yeah, I don’t like the looks of the adv mirrors either. I bought some cheap folding mirrors off eBay, the mirror itself are triangular shaped. They perform ok, and look decent. They are slightly smaller than the stock, but I was hoping to go even smaller, but I don’t want to lose that much visibility. Thanks for the input!

  • @giorgosfrantzeskakis5892
    @giorgosfrantzeskakis5892 7 місяців тому

    Now that you've had the chance to ride it extensively, let me ask you: Do you feel the extra weight of the tower upon steering the motorcycle? I think that a slight disadvantage of this execution is that it is bolted on the steering system instead of the frame (as it is on the Adventure model). I have the same one and I can tell that steering has become considerably "heavier".
    BTW, love your channel, keep up the fantastic work. Cheers from Greece!

    • @PatchedBandit
      @PatchedBandit  7 місяців тому

      That's interesting as I havent really even noticed that myself. This might also be that I'm running spiked tires so the steering is very 'wild' lightly put as the grip is so different.
      Maybe my opinion changes over the summer but so far I haven't felt this. Also I could be making a small difference with my mirrors? They weigh nothing 😊
      Thanks for watching the vids! My favorite coutry to ride Europe is Greece 🇬🇷

    I need to talk to this company about building a tower for the 250F. I’m giving serious consideration to converting a 250F into a dual sport, and the tower would be a must. My Rally has me spoiled with the wind protection, plus I would need the lighting and the space to mount accessories.

      I think the bike is still between 2 to 3 kg lighter than the Rally version now not considering all the other mods. Swapping the Acerbis tank is gonna shave some more weight off the top when the tank is empty.

    Do you have tyres with spikes?

    • @PatchedBandit
      @PatchedBandit  7 місяців тому +2

      I have a winter riding gear video coming out friday. I'll show the tires there a bit too.
      It's a good question and for me the decision was not super easy but here are few reasons why I went with the L version:
      1. Rally is 1890 € more expensive in Finland
      2. Rally is about 4 kg heavier than L. Not much but as the bike is already a bit heavy everything counts
      3. I like the slimmer design of the L
      4. Less plastics to brake on the L
      5. I never liked the look of the Rally version. It looks weird in my opinion :) Not a huge issue but worth mentioning for sure.
      Even though I installed the Rally Tower I still have a LOT cheaper bike with even better lights than the standard Rally version. Even if I change the tank to Acerbis (which is lighter btw) I still get a lighter and more affordable bike.

    • @amando96
      @amando96 7 місяців тому

      Would that be a bigger tank than the stock L? In Norway the price difference is similar. But the 2023 Rally was priced just 3000nok less than the 2024 L
      However, the thing I noticed the most was how soft the suspension is, especially with a passenger. Stiffening that up might be in order@@PatchedBandit

    • @PatchedBandit
      @PatchedBandit  7 місяців тому +1

      Stock tank is 7.8 L on the CRF300L
      Acerbis Fuel tank 14L Honda CRF300L
      And CRF300 Rally has a stock 12.8 L
      So the L will have a bigger tank with the Acerbis upgrade. And as far as I understand the hardware itself is lighter. Plus the fuel sits lower on the Acerbis tank so it should be slightly better balanced too.

    • @PatchedBandit
      @PatchedBandit  7 місяців тому

      Can't feel it at all. It's only about 1.7kg heavier than the stock light setup so the difference is fairly minor.
