    I won't lie. My derm just upped my tretinoin percentage. I went through a mini purge and in 1 week I feel like my skin looks a little younger. I need to tweeze!!! Bummer, my wax strips are sooo fast ... I made the mistake of using wax when I first started years ago. I also made the mistake of benzoyl peroxide face wash. Needless to say my new percentage means I need to switch my face wash routine.
    All in all I'm happy.
    I use snail mucin on my face before my sunscreen. It helps with the flakes that I occasionally get.

    Wish i saw this before i followed my mom's directions. I was already on my own skincare journey with glycolic acid(2x a week) and just daily wash and moisturizer. She kept on saying that Differin would give me the glassy look in a week and to just switch over, i tried it to get her to stop nagging me, now my skin is the worst its ever been, peeling, cracking and irritating all because she told me to apply it everynight before i went to sleep, i had only been on my 3rd day when my skin got really severe. Im taking a break from it to try and recover but i can already see a lot of scars forming. Do your own research before following someone else's experience!!😭

    My doctor told me to do a facial 2 weeks into having started using retin-a. Based on all your advice I'm thinking the doctor hasn't given me very good advice because I'm guessing the facial will be too harsh for my skin so early into using the retin-a. She advised me to use 0.1% every other night for 2 weeks then come for the facial. Seeking your advice because my priority is doing what is safest for my skin. Thanks

    • @SarahSaleen
      @SarahSaleen  2 роки тому +6

      Hi 💙My advise doesn’t replace that of your medical provider. But I will say in my experience. Retin a prior to any facial peels specifically can exaggerate the peel sometimes, on the other hand retin a use can actually be a great prep for some facial peels and can speed healing.. however this is after the skin has adjusted to it, typically a month or more of use in my experience. With only using it for two weeks your skin may still be adjusting to the retin a.. but this can be different for everyone. You can always access your skin in two weeks and see how the adjustment is going.. it definitely does not hurt to stay on tret longer and do a facial when you personally feel comfortable.

      Not every healthcare professional gives good advice. It’s like saying everyone is good at their jobs, there are plenty of healthcare professionals that are bad at what they do. If your skin is reacting very sensitively, logically having a facial would not be a good idea. I would recommend asking another healthcare professional if you don’t intuitively agree with your doctor. It’s always good to get a second opinion and listen to your body. 🤍

    • @SarahSaleen
      @SarahSaleen  2 роки тому +1

      Hey! Thank you so much 😻😻😻Yes sometimes a combination of of ingredients is most helpful. Here are a few options.
      If you have access to purchasing the topicals faded serum, that one has a combination of actives for pigmentation. I show this is my recent short video.
      A second option instead is the facetheory exaglow serum.
      A third option would be incorporate azelaic acid, and/ or tranexamic acid. Tranexamic is non exfoliating and works well in combo with alpha arbutin. I mention it in my past hyperpigmentation videos. Azelaic acid can help with hyperpigmentation as well and can help a bit with acne too.

      If using a bha or strong aha makes you nervous, start with an azelaic acid serum. Naturium has one (I prefer the emulsion for acne skin) , the ordinary has one. The one I currently have in my rotation is from face theory.
      It’s a gentle exfoliant, helps with acne bacteria, it’s anti inflammatory, but it’s gentle and safe on all skin types.
      You can always incorporate a more gentle salicylic cleanser a few times a week as well. Using a bha in cleanser form will be a lot more gentle on the skin. The cere ve sa cleanser is pretty gentle.

The reason I'm using acnatac is for tretinoin and it's benefits(anti aging, scars), not for acne which I don't suffer from. Thank you love! Studies have shows tret can decrease the amount of Hormonal acne and over all inflammation.
      While it doesn’t directly target hormonal fluctuations, it can be combined with other hormone balancing habits to target the acne. So, more like an addition to your low glycemic diet, exercise, supplements, and anything else you may do long term to help balance hormones. Hope that makes sense ❤️

    Hi, I was curious what you think about enlarged pores from tretinoin use...I have been using it for a couple of months but one day realized I was very oily and my pores had enlarged...thinking it might be due to drying out I added more moisture and used the sandwich technique. My skin is less oily but the pores are still enlarged. Looking it up on the Internet people have reported mixed results- some say it goes away and your pores shrink again after some time on tret. And others report there skin remained with large pores for as long as they used tret which for one woman was 7 years.

    I've been using tretinoin 0.025% for multiple months now, but I'm still getting minor flaky skin around the mouth area if I use it consecutively. And one hyperpigmented patch. I don't use tretinoin every day though. I wonder if my skin will EVER get used to it at this point 😅. I think my scrubbing on cleansing my foundation with micellar water isn't helping either because my skin still stings.

    I’m still adjusting and have very sensitive skin, will once a week make it challenging for the skin to adjust? I heard somewhere that you need to use it at least every 3 days to adjust but I’m not sure my skin can handle that right now. Curious if that is just a myth. Thank you for your great content! Best videos I’ve found on Tret so far :)

    • @SarahSaleen
      @SarahSaleen  2 роки тому +4

      Thank you 🥰 so I’ve had clients tell me they use it once a week for years and have seen results. It all depends on many factors like the skin, concentration, sensitivity. I started at once a week and added another day every few weeks when I was building my tolerance and it was so helpful. It was a slower process but now I use it regularly. You will always hear conflicting information and I’ve heard derms stress using it 3 times a week at least while other will advise starting once a week for sensitive skin.

    • @SarahSaleen

      Hey! If your skin isn’t irritated you can continue face shaving, and avoid using tret on nights that you shave. If your skin does get irritated you can follow the tips in the video I’m putting up later this week. I have a beginners guide to tretinoin video as well that may help.
      I would minimize the panoxyl use, or if your skin gets too dry from the tret you can take a break from the bp and come back to it once things calm down ❤️❤️
