happy fatherday to you keep up the good work
Could you add some rehydrated chilis to the tomato sauce, like ancho or guajillo (sic)?
I've been looking at that griddle for a while, been seeing quite a few youtube cooks using it, seems to have more space then my LEM cast iron. I'm probably going to get a 22" Blackstone first though, they are both in the same general price range and this is OT season for me so I should be able to get both this summer.
In regards to the potatoes, are those raw or are the boiled before you put them on the griddle?
@@seanmartin8481 raw, cube em small and they cook quick.
This reminds me so much of my dad ( he was born in El Paso) who is no longer with me. Im going to make this today for him..thank you brotha for the idea. Happy Father's Day Everyone!
the best tribute ever to your pops. RIP pops.
Same here man! Reminds me so much of my dad it’s crazy to watch , but def a nice reminder. Kinda like hanging with an old friend
@@acmdavid11that's sweet. My mom was born in El Paso too. My Mexican grandparents lived there after coming to this country. Yummy food!
Really fun, I see this authentic dish on the screen, I check it out. Simplicity is wondrous.
We must dance while dining on this recipe.
Okay....
Arnie, your channel is the BEST. I'm just a Ukrainian kid who grew up in the cold, Arctic tundra of Manitoba, Canada -- but easily half of my cooking at home now is Mexican because of these videos. Gracias por las recetas, señor.
Con todo gusto amigo, saludos
Makes me so happy to see traditional Mexican food reaching around the world! Arnie you are the man !
I make picadillo on a fairly regular basis, at least once a month, but I make it according to a more Caribbean version that uses red/yellow bell peppers, onion, beef, wine, raisins, some spices, and I serve it over rice. Apparently it's a fairly widespread dish with a bunch of regional varieties.
Man I love your recipes. Out of everyone, I think I cook your stuff the most. I may just be a gringo, but I don't have to eat like one
I GREW UP ON THIS STUFF ITS ALL I ATE EVER!!!
Its time I make my childhood food
0:10. That's South Texas soul food right there. I make mine outside in my paella pan. Glad to see those mesquite spatulas in action.
Put that over a nice mound of just cooked rice, over easy (yolks running) and sunny side eggs, plantain bananas (or saba - a shorter and somewhat flatter version of the plantain), and you have Arroz ala Cubana!
That happy dance makes me want to go straight to the store to buy the ingredients!
You are the man Arnie! I have lived in California all my life so I have a lifelong love and passion for Mexican food.
I recently moved to the south, so I need to make all my favorites homemade and your channel has been invaluable to me. I appreciate you more than you'll realize. Love you Arnie!
You remind me of my dad sadly he didn’t leave any of his amazing recipes behind cause he died suddenly and young but ur recipes are similar thank you for making these videos much love from ATX
I made picadillo today. I used a pound and a half of ground beef. Browned the meat in a pan with avacado oil and added chili powder. Chopped up three potatoes, 1/2 white onion, three serrano chilis, two cloves garlic, three roma tomatoes and lime juice. Put a lid on it and turned the heat down to simmer it all together about 20 mins. Ate it with homemade tortillas de harina.
Your channel ROCKS Arnie!!
Picadillo is one of my favorite dishes ever! I consider it to be a huge comfort meal! Happy Father’s Day and thank you for sharing 🩷
Hey Arnie, I love your videos. I'm on the carnivore diet so I'm always looking for new ideas. I could make k e this without the potato. It sure looks good
WOW...Just WOW...I made this tonight for dinner, followed your video and fantastic.!! Thank you for sharing.!!
Pop a couple of over easy eggs on top and, POW! Great recipe thank you for the video!
i thoroughly enjoy your videos. you have the perfect personality for this kind of stuff. always brings a smile to my face and reminds me of all the good mexican food my mom used to cook. it's amazing how good food can bring together the family and make just another day a very special day. RIP mom.
Happy Father’s Day , my favorite cook. Thank you
When I was very young we lived in the mountains west of Tucson and our neighbor would make a large batch of Picadillo several times a month. He used and I still today make it with olives and raisins or dates serving it over rice. Over time it's become a what you have dish, mushrooms and squash also go very well. The older I get onions and some kind of pepper are now mandatory, usually fresno or jalapeno but also serrano if I haven't used them all up. This looks really good though, definitely trying this.
I think that's a Philippino version with the olives and raisins
I love meat with dates or raisins.adding chopped walnuts is also yum. My recipe calls for cinnamon and tumeric. Serve with bread or over rice.
@@MARILYNANDERSON88 Cinnamon and turmeric absolutely, are amazing. My dad talked me into getting an "insta" pot and I love adding spices to rice now, sometimes randomly! Black tea, mint and habanero is pretty good. You get so much more from the spices you put in compared to cooking it in a clay pot, stock pot or steam basket. Peppercorns, dried chilies, all kinds of spices. Just don't add salt or too much fat, at least with my instapot. On mine it messes with the cook time (undercooked rice) and causes foam to come out the steam vent with too much fat. Regardless, I need to try walnuts with rice. I love them, especially in the Fall with pumpkin. PORK IN A PUMPKIN, pork shoulder, mushrooms, walnuts, a dark beer and seasoning (I like pork fat, cayenne, white pepper, worcestershire , a few bay leaves). Sear meat and stuff in pumpkin (pie pumpkin) and roast for 6hrs. Sorry for memory vomiting on you, but now I have to try walnuts with my rice!
@@Mistserpent I love my instant pot also. we can have fun experimenting with taste and nutrition.
@@msKita43 the Cuban version can have olives and raisins too.
Really enjoy your easy relaxed way of cooking.
My family is from San Angelo Texas.
Very similar to a beef hash I've been making for years based on family recipe. Differences? The addition of the roasted tomatoes and the veg mix. Otherwise, Beef, onion, garlic, potatoes, seasoning... Love it. Thanks for sharing!
Flavour, flavour and more flavour. That looks great. Hope you have a Happy Father's Day. Cheers, Arnie! 👍🏻👍🏻✌️
Mexican spoon!
I'm stealing that!
Arnie that's exactly what I made for my lunches this the only difference is am serving mine over white rice and Happy Father's day to everyone 👍
Picadillo looks delicious. It would be great for camping 👍
Filipinos have this dish, it’s called Picadillo if you add hard boiled eggs, Giniling if not. Only thing missing in their version is cumin and chiles. We’ll try it this way next time. Thanks!!!
This looks like the picadillo my aunt makes... and my mouth was watering when i saw it at the end.
that picadillo with arroz blanco? and a tomatillo serrano green salsa? Bruh...
AND A COKE 🤤
Happy Father's Day, thank you for your amazing videos. You are the best!
Can I just come over to your house to eat. That looks totally delicious. Thanks for sharing your videos.
Uncle Arnie you don't always pop up in my shorts but when you do it makes my day I wish I had an actual Uncle Arnie just like you but I do have you here on UA-cam 🤤 much thanks much love God bless Arnie TEX and all of his beloveds
I always enjoyed how everyone has their own take on picadillo.
For sure. I like mine with a little more sauce added. I may have done double what he did. Good stuff though
I could probably clear that whole griddle in one setting. Yum!
Arnie, everything you make is fire. You never fail to make me smile and I love all your recipes.
My favorite is Hispanic cooking, I’m Guatemalan American and week all cook similarly. Only thing I would change from our diet is the high inflammatory seed oils. It’s very bad for our health. I prefer cooking with Olive Oil or coconut oil. I would suggest you switching too you won’t regret it! 🤗 great cooking videos by the way! God bless.
Happy Father's day, Arnietex!
Great video Arnie, it looks absolutely delicious! We enjoy watching your videos! Thanks for sharing!
I’m totally not Hispanic, but I have to try this sometime. It looks great.
I've had such good results with your mama's Mexican rice that I have faith in your videos. Gotta try this!
I can’t wait 25 hours!😂
Right now it is only 18 hours lol

Thank you for sharing your love of cooking. I’m contemplating the made in griddle 😮
We lived in California and blessed to have so many friends who taught me about their favourite Mexican kitchen recipes Oh my gosh. We are addicted. Table salsas, carnitas , we are very blessed to have this in our hearts and brains 😋
I love all your videos, and they all make me wanting to cook and enjoy. Gracias!!
I made this for dinner tonight. So delicious! Thank you!
looks like the flip flam schnizzle dizzle. I can't wait to make it.
@ 5:23 For the Potatoes I usually " Cheat " by using ( Ready Made ; ) Potato Chips ! / What the Hay ! they're already cooked
and they save time !
When the foods so good it makes you dance, You know it's really good haha much love!

I like green olives in mine. This looks so good Arnie!!
Great recipe, Arnie! I love this type of food!😁👍
I love your videos! Keep up the good work!
Glad I found your channel, delicious !
Yum, that picadillo looks so good! It's similar to a pasty filling I made a lot in the past, but I bet cooking it over a grill makes it a million times tastier. Can't wait to try!
Love the videos and my grandfather had a El Cumino !!! 🤣
I start with bacon and add chunks of pork, smoked sausage, chicken ,onions , potato chunks , and Rotel. Kinda like Discada with chunks of potato
From Alberta Canada Liked and subscribed.
I’m moving back to Texas soon, I can’t wait to have good food again.❤️
Congrats on your Texas Monthly article, Arnie. It's how I discovered your UA-cam channel.
Thank you, glad you saw it, is an honor to be featured
Man, my grandmas picadillo was just boiled beef like chuck called deshebrada cooked with blended guajillo tomatillo and onion with some spices. That is the only "picadilo" i am familiar with but we are from Guadalajara Jalisco so i now need to try this! always willing to try new things and this with potatoes... cant wait!!
Tex-Mex cooking is very different from Jalisco. In my area each MX region has a specialty restaurant: Taco Shack, Jalisco's, Puerto Vallarta, Mijuacan, Guererro are all different restaurants with delicious unique cultural menus
@@MARILYNANDERSON88 hence the "tex-mex style" and not the "mexican regional style " cooking recipe 😋.
Grew up eating this. It's my favorite, and CHEAP to make! With flower tortillas and limon.
Love love LOVE Picadillo!
Can't wait to get this going, Arnie...Cheers
My family made ours with raisins and almonds!
There are so many variations!
I use to be able to get a picadillo mix at the stores here (either Fred Meyers or Safeway, don't remember which), I think it was the Cuban version, it had green olives and raisins in it. Bit different spice mix then normal tacos as well as some more vegies, I'll definitely give this a try, thank you again. I need to try flour tortillas, maybe I'll have better luck then with corn, I can't seem to get them down.
Love you BRO
Yes! We call it Comino indeed!
I’m glad you added the extra pound of meat 👍👍👍
me too lol
I love your food Arnie!
So Good ! Thanks
Wow!!! Looks great!
Dude!! Nailed it! I had to follow!!
Dang, now I'm going to have to go get some Tex-Mex tomorrow.
My guy always crushing it
My dad used to make that when he was alive now I make it same way love it
Comino es mi ingrediente secreto!! I love the taste!
My mom used to make that when I was a kid. She would serve it over mashed taters. She called it ghoulash. Yumm
WOOOOW👍Superb! We love it. Respected friend we really enjoyed your video from start to finish.🙂Stay blessed!👍Keep it up!🙂God bless you abundantly forever 🙂🙂Enjoy amazingly blessed week 🙂🙂Stay happy and well protected.🙂
Mmmmm... my kind of meal, right there!
Hi Arnie. Big hugs from Calgary Alberta Canada We were craving Piccadillo so I made it Watching your videos is just motivating. I did add a tiny bit of beef broth and we did have it with “Mexican spoons 😅
I’d love a corn tortilla tutorial..guess I just need to practice though. The organic masas out there smell so good, but I’m not consistent yet w thickness, cooking, etc etc. My enchiladas I made are fantastic, even w clumsy tortillas! Used the King Arthur organic masa…
Looks so Beautifully Delicious 😊
3:25 Huehue, he knew :D
Feliz día de Los Padres Arnie! Valley proud🤘🏽🔥🔥
Being Scottish I'm always a little worried that there is a nuclear war happening in Texas, I'm infomred it's something called "nice and sunny" though, whatever that is. Smashing as always mate 🙂
No, just chili peppers.
¡El picadillo se ve increíble! Yo hago el mío con menos verduras, pero lo voy a probar así.
