- Comfort food at it’s best! This is one of the meals my mom prepared for us often when we were growing up, she always served it with beans and freshly made flour tortillas and it always hit the spot. She prepared inexpensive dishes and turned them into a feast…I have continued the tradition. When you are hungry this dish will definitely satisfy, it is very easy to prepare. I change it around, sometimes I add bell peppers instead of jalapeños, but my Ron loves the kick from the jalapeños and so do I, I don’t think it’s hot, but bell peppers can be a simple substitute. I hope you give this dish a try.❤️

I LOVE that you have ingredients already chopped! I hate wasting my time watching people cut up their ingredients.
My son and I used your recipe. Just the aroma had us wanting for more. We actually cooked this dish 2 nights in a row back to back. I cannot thank you enough Ms. Rachel for putting this out. We looked at about 2 -3 other recipes and after making our choice to use yours. We were hooked! We subscribed and we'll be making more dishes, and spices with your videos! Thank you Ms. Rachel.
Thank you for the absence of silly music. 😊
I love how clear and well spoken you are. It’s a pleasure to watch your easy to follow recipes.
You just need to have your own TV show already!! Your videos are perfection, well done, and to the point! Your personality shines, you are in love with what you do, you genuinly care about your audience (we feel you girl!) and you bring a chuckle at the end when you taste your food...sounds very lovely and we know your Ron loves it too. Lol keep it up!!
A great recipe, but an absolutely outstanding video of how everything comes together! I really like your having the ingredients pre-measured and displayed, then a brief explanation of each one. Your demeanor is so calm and knowledgeable, it's obvious you know what you're doing, and doing it in an organized way. Your explanation of "why" you use certain ingredients, and how you use them, is so useful for cooks new to Cocina Latinoamericana. ¡Este video es un 10!
I made this recipe tonight Rachel, it came out so perfect, I'm so proud I did exactly as you as you said, step by step. I love it so much. I made last night your homemade refried beans too for this dish. I love your recipes. Thank you!!!! Keep doing your Rachel cooks with love, I love them and I'm sure many people do too.
You made my day, thank you so much for your comment my friend. ❤️
Brings back so many memories. My mother made this dish, yummy. I'm going to make this weekend. Thanks for taking me back to my childhood.
This looks really good, Rachel. Thanks for the nod to how your mom made it. My kids are grown and don't ever ask for much, but once in awhile one or the other remembers something I cooked for them and asks how I did it. It makes me happy to know they liked it well enough to want to try it on their own.
Those refried beans look phenomenal! I will have to try that. My fiancé is mexican and I make his refried beans with black beans and salt in a blender and then I cook it in a little oil with a bit of onion. When I seen the ham hocks in yours I knew it was going to be good! ❤️
Oh my gracious!!! Ms. Rachel,I am older than you… but would you please ADOPT me??😊
I don’t have any family and your food always looks soooooo very good!!!
I started cooking around 9 years old,but after family passed away,I stopped cooking very much. I have never seen this dish, but it made my mouth water 💦.
God Bless you and your Ron.
Hello Raquel, this is my husbands favorite. The family calls it “the Joey Special” after him. Looks delicious. God bless lovely. 🌻
Thank you so much, my Ron loves it too, it's a winner.❤
I make this often. I never added carrots. I will have to try that! I usually add green olives, green and red bell peppers, and capers. Once I needed to stretch it and threw a can of black beans. It was delicious!!
While living in Venezuela, I learned to make it this way with capers and olives.
Thank you for sharing, it sound delicious my friend. Try the carrots 🥕 for a pinch of sweetness.❤
@@rachelcookswithlovev
You had me at capers
I also add green olives it’s a universal dish that came from Spain and Latina America
I remember my mom making this dish, she would use up all the leftover veggies in the frig. yummy 😋
I like the seeds of the jalapenos and every peppers because I am a white lady who loves heat 😍
Enjoy my friend, thank you for your comment. ❤️
Hi Rachel, I showed this recipe to my husband and he said his mother use to make this for the family when he was growing up. I can't wait to make this I will let you know how it turns out. Thank you and your Ron for your wonderful recipes and great camera work
So happy you're gonna try it my friend, i hope you enjoy every bite. Blessings from me and my Ron.❤
Rachel, I would buy an apron that said “Just like this. See?”
It's evident you love what you're doing. 😄
I love how you so enjoy your cooking. I enjoy mine too. We never eat out anymore. It’s just not good! This recipe is definitely right up our alley. Beautiful and delicious. Thanks Rachel
You're welcome my friend, my Ron and I rarely go out to eat for those same reasons, I always have something ready to go and we also enjoy the comfort of home. Thank you so much for sharing. ❤️
And way too expensive right 🤪
You make it exactly how I learned in Texas when I worked on a golf course with 30 Latinos.
It's an amazing dish, keep up the good work.❤
Thanks so much 😊❤️
I have been sick for about a week n have not made a good homemade meal. My brother lives in Wisconsin n ask when I'm cooking some food for him. This will be 1 of the dishes I make for him among others. Thanks for your recipe
This is for dinner Tuesday night!
Absolutely. Love it. Thanks Rachel. ❤️❤️
I’ve never tried or even heard of picadillo but it looks delicious, and I imagine it’s adaptable to all sorts of ingredients.
I grew up on the stuff. Granted I did eat other stuff, but I definitely had my share.
It’s a small world 🌎
Wow! Looks yummy! Great job! Looks easy!👍🌹🌹
Those refries on the side
Rock that dish
"If you dont want to use japaleno because you are
Afraid of them".
That cracked me up .
Thanks Rachel .
You belong here .
You cook so much like Grandma Barela. Grandma B was from Las Cruces New Mexico. Thank you for posting your recipe, I’m going to try it. I sure miss Grandma B’s wonderful cooking, but I miss her most of all.
Grandma went home to Jesus Several years ago, and not a day goes by that I don’t miss her.
.
Yes, I grew up eating picadillo my mom and grandmother would make it along with my grandmother’s flour tortillas! I now make it. I love that you grind the fresh spices in the molcajete, just like my mom and grandmother did. It sure brings out the best flavor to any Mexican dish. I still have my mom’s molcajete and use it from time to time, need to use it more often! Thank you for your videos, and keeping our family traditions alive.
So incredibly DELICIOUS! Just made for the first time. New favorite. Thanks Rachel ❤
You’re killing me!!!! I’m drooling!!!!!!!!!
“If you don’t want to use jalapeños because you’re afraid of them”. This was funny 😆 Great meal Thank you
Love jalapeños..
That’s pretty much how my mom makes it but she adds peas at the end and sometimes green beans. Haven’t had this in a while. Bringing back memories!
Reminds of my dad, pass away 18 years ago. That was the only thing he know how to cook. We would see him cook twice a week and we know what we were going to eat. ( That's so funny thing about it, we would make plans not to eat home) 💙😊
One of my favorite inexpensive dishes! Picodillo, refried bean, and tortillas to use as a utensil to get it to my happy mouth!
You are the best that I have seen anywhere presenting/cooking fantastic recipes on You-Tube. They are all delicious! You are amazing!
You make me long for the days when I lived with my Grandma and used to come home for lunch from school.
She would have something similar or sopa de Estrella with homemade flour tortillas. Best comfort food ever!!😋❤️
Beans with ham hock is the way to go!
Hi Rachel, I just love your step by step instructions, and Oooh la la, this dish taste so delicious with flour tortillas. Thanks you so much for bringing these dishes to all of us and instructions are so easy to follow....YEY... Muchas Gracias, tu amiga, Estella

Sweet comment my friend. Thank you for your words.❤
God bless you Rachel 🙏❤️🙏 I make this recipe all the time I make it the same as you but I add green beans instead of the jalapenos corn and El Pato sauce but I will be trying your recipe the way you make itevery time I watch your videos Rachel I always learn something new thank you and have a great day🙏💙🙏🌹🏡🌹🦋😇🍲🍜🍔🌮🥞🌮🍔🥞🍜
This is an easy, any day of the week kind of dish. I usually go for corn tortillas. A dollop of crema or sour cream and a little avocado on top. Oh my, my mouth is watering right now. Thank you for sharing 😊
I make it all the time, and 2 me there is nothing better Mexican food is so simple and easy to fix and so good 👍👍
You read my mind - I almost asked for this in a comment on your last video I watched. Growing up in El Paso, we also had a Caldillo Burrito - kind of a thick Caldo de Res on a flour tortilla with Salsa Verde and cheese - wow talk about knock your socks off. That, Chile Relleno and Picadillo have got to be my all time favorites - thank you so much - love your channel
Ms Rachel 🤗 you always make me hungry 😋
My mom used to make this dish. I have never seen this dish made before thank you so much. I will try and make it now. It's been years since I've had it.

One of my favorites.. My mother in law taught me this recipe 35 years ago, and I still love it to this day. How's your Ron you haven't mentioned him lately?

Made this and my 14-year-old son scarfed up LOTS of helpings. Easy to see it as a comfort food.
Hi Rachel ! That looks yummy ! I grew up in the Philippines and we do have picadillo filipino version kinda similar to yours but no cilantro . And we eat picadillo with steam rice. You should try it! I love all your recipes and specially the apple fritters ! Thank you Rachel !
Yummy!!! I have a dear friend from the Philippines, I'll ask her. Thank you so much for your comment.❤
Growing up in the San Antonio area it was one of my favorites.
Hey Rachel, I know this is an old video but I must have missed it! Thank you for the recipe…forty years ago at noon everyday, a catering truck would come to work and they would always have Picadillo burritos…oh my, my mouth is watering!!! (by the time you read this hopefully you are settled in your new home!)❤
I made it tonight and it was super delicious! Sadly with store bought tortillas but still yummy…thank you so much!
Great Job as usual Rachel, it never fails that I get hungry after watching you cook. Yum.
My mom used to make it for me all the time. Thank you!!! I hope to make it for my daughter
Yummy!! Yet another new dish for my home!! ( after this Texas heat calms down).
I really love your channel. I was raised on Picadillo. We have always used round steak. My husband used to love it. Thank you for sharing so many wonderful recipes.
Yummy!! Your welcome my friend, I hope you get to try it.❤
@@rachelcookswithlove you are a sweet blessing to me.
I wish you could come to my house and teach me how to make flour and corn tortillas. I love your show. I wish you would put your hasband one time . God Bless you
Video is coming up soon my friend, I have an old corn tortilla video and a flour tortilla video but I’m gonna re do the flour one for those having trouble with them being a little hard, I use different amounts here in Ohio than I do in Texas.❤️
Ms. Rachael, I make this recipe. I substituted red bell pepper, & used green olives, raisins, cumin, oregano, a bay leaf, tomato paste in addition to crushed tomatoes, beef broth, & parsley instrad of cilantro. I served it with rice. Absolutely delicious! Thank you for your lovrly recipes & teaching!
Looks like next Sundays dinner! 🤤👍👏🤩
Looks good, I use hot green Chile and it's not hot I add a jalapeño. I choose them and put them in the freezer and I roast my hot green Chile and peel them and put them in the freezer too. I only put onion, salt, pepper, garlic salt🥰 add potatoes, nothing else. I leave the seeds in the Chile. We don't use tomatoes. We only use the green and red chile and jalapeños. My brother jars the yellow peppers. That what we use to make chile.
This is 1-2024 and I have made this. It’s so delicious and warming. Second dinner I made so far and my husband enjoys your recipes too. Love how you lay out your plan. It’s easy to grocery shop like that. Think you so much 😘
Oh Miss Rachel! You did it again 😋😋😋
Thank you Rachel, I am going to try this for dinner tonight, it's raining here in Tennessee, I enjoy your recipes and I have tried several, thank you for sharing your wonderful recipes.
I love this meal!!!!!!!!!!!
Watching you make this, makes me miss my mom 😭
You’ve really inspired me to cook Mexican food! Thank you for your wonderful recipes!!
Love it-brings back loving memories of my mom making this "no recipe" recipe as she would call this her hamburger stew : )
Amazing dish that satisfies the Family!!
My mom made the best, I’m pretty good at it as well, great with fresh flour tortillas 😋
Yes for sure, it's a classic dish. Thank you so much for your comment my friend. ❤️
Muchas Gracias amiguita. Ya he guardado algunas de sus recetas . Pronto las pondré en practica, primero Dios. 🫶🏼💐. Saludos desde Squaw Valley mountains Ca. 🎶⛰️ 🐾
My dad used to make that, it was so good, like yours, and had tortillas with it, yummy,❤
I made this today, My husband really loved this recipe.
Thank for explaining step by step
We love this in our house but with more juice and more veges, like a hamburger stew. I’m going to make like you’ve done. Looks delicious and yes, it is comfort food. It was 103+ today so I try not to cook after morning. Thank you for sharing, my friend! 🌺
I’m inspired.
I’ll probably watch this 100 times today or until my meat finally defrost 😂
I love this dish. If I have left overs I smash down the potatoes a little and make tacos with cabbage they’re wonderful. I’ve made several of your dishes and my family has loved every single one. Thank you so much for sharing
Heyyyyy Te'Te Rachelllll! I LOVE comfort foods and I almost fell off my chair at the opening. Love your recipes. Thank you.
Girl…. Looks delicious!
Thank you so much my friend.❤️😋🥰
THANKS, WONDERFUL RECIPE. MY MOM MADE THIS WHEN WE WERE KIDS. IT'S BEEN 75 YEARS AGO.
I make this often…I usually use onion, red or green bell pepper, jalapeño, and potatoes with the ground meat…every now and then I’ll add some corn…my
Mom made it with carrots though…it’s a quick go to meal!!
Wow! They look so delicious Rachel, best tacos ever. Thank you for sharing👍🏼👍🏼😋😋❤️
Tried this recipe tonight and it was DELICIOUS!! This will be a regular now. Thank you!!
My husband and I love watching your videos. It reminds my husband of his childhood. One of the things I love doing is picking one of your recipes out for dinner time.
We love jalapeños and we leave the seeds in 💥😋
This looks wonderful!!!! Just like everything you make!!!! Keep going!!💖🐈
I just made this for Easter Sunday supper and it was a big hit. It was so delicious! I used Serrano peppers instead of jalapenos because my younger grandson can't have very spicy food. As some others suggested, I was going to add green olives, but even though I bought some last night, I forgot to put them in! Thank you so much! I love watching you. ❤
I'm glad everyone enjoyed it! Makes me happy 💖
I make my Picadillo only with potatoes of course add garlic tomato and onion and cilantro I liked the jalapeño give it am
Beautiful as always Rachel. ❣️
