It was not only physical health sadly, you really get to understand that with his last guitarist's statements. Drugs eventually change people, and Slipknot decided they'd rather be blamed for years (sometimes even to this day) without saying anything despite them not being wrong instead of dragging an old friend's name through the mud. That must have been hard. There's also the fact you can hear Chris say in an old interview that they were really harsh with him, that he never felt like a part of the band. The journalist asked him if he was an expection, to which he replied they were all harsh on each other. Slipknot sure has never been the best band to be a part of. When I found out that Joey passed I cried Dime, Vinnie, Paul, Joey, Pete Steel and just so many music legends I will miss but Joey, Paul and Dime are always going to hold a special place in my heart
Man, Dime hit me hard. I was a teenager waiting for him to play damage plan back in Texas , had all my money saved so I could see him in person. And that happened. I don't think I ever cried that hard over someone, especially I never met. I was so excited to see him, and I was crushed into a dark hole for a while. He was like my best friend.
When I found out that Joey passed, I honestly didn't listen to slipknot music for at least seven months, it hit me as well. Then something told me, slipknot got you where you are in life, start listening to them, Joey and Paul would be proud. Then I found out in March this past year, slipknot was coming back to perform in my city on June 1st 2022, I bought the tickets, and it was a great show. Second time seeing them, and I felt Joey, and Paul's spirit present at the heritage center, I bet everyone did, or even a freind or a family member who they lost at sometime when the guys were playing Snuff. R.i.p Joey Jordinson and Paul Gray.
@@MarcusBlueWolf Exactly. I remember reading an interview years ago where Joey talked about a really terrible show they had because Corey was completely shitfaced on stage. Apparently it was okay when Corey was an alcoholic and performing badly, he never got fired over it. I guess all it took was Paul's death for everything to change. On top of that, after firing Joey (for supposed substance abuse?), didn't Slipknot turn around and release their own brand of alcohol. That just reeks of hypocrisy to me. You would think after losing people in their lives to substance abuse and being former addicts themselves that they would instead encourage sobriety. It became obvious money was important than their so called brotherhood.
Joey was an amazing drummer for sure one of the best of all time. I never like to say a musician that’s in a massively successful band is underrated because they are so successful but Joey was such a high caliber drummer just on a different level he should be a household name he was just that good. Pretty bullshit answer for someone you've known for decades and were really close with. If he's gonna still cry when singing snuff and get emotional about Paul, then Joey shouldn't be any different. Slipknot was Joey's life. No emotion, no nothing from Corey. Disgraceful
Seemed like he gave an answer people wanted to hear even though he hated him. No one knows exactly what happened but that’s what I got from his answer. Almost like something you’d say about someone you barely knew
Never met Joey, never knew much about him, didnt even have much knowledge on Slipknot when he was around but it still hurts my heart when people speak about him. I never understood how this could physically make me tear up especially because Joey Jordison wasnt even a thought in my head until now. I think its just the fact he was pure raw talent, had a good attitude, and produced a lot of the music I listen to when having a hard time. Maybe its just that I'll never get to repay that.
Joey was such a talented musician and the world of music has suffered immensely from his loss. Thoughts and prayers still go out to all of his friends and family, Slipknot included. Rest in Peace Joey ❤️

Oh my ... u exactly took the words right out of my mouth... why do I feel like "the big chunk" was actually the main issue to eliminate joey from the band?!! As if he had some sort of a power or control in the band as an official member and that's why they don't ever want to talk about it!
@@gorillawhale1046 Yes you could brother!! Yep, the man has a gigantic ego, so I find hilarious when he's bitching about Kanye West's (or other figure) ego, for example. But he's clearly in love with the sound of his own voice, that's for sure.
Corey actually hugged me and broke down while I was telling him how Joey is a big influence of mine and a huge reason why I play the drums. I couldn't get through it without breaking down and corey actually hugged me and comforted me..
I really feel Corey said these with little to no sadness just for the sake of being good in the media, I mean just watch the old videos of when the Paul died
the night before Joey passed away I was alone and I was listening to old Slipknot stuff and next day when I woke up I came across this tragedy .... which really broke my heart
Can anyone tell the difference between this interview and paul death interview? Corey doesnt seem like his telling the truth probably sugar coating it. Its what he does best..
It’s not difficult to understand the difference. Paul was on great terms with Corey and died suddenly. Joey died years and years after their falling out and had been dealing with an illness. I swear, everyone is just dogpiling on the Corey/Shawn hate train without any original thought.
Life is complicated. People are complicated, and I feel like it's easy for everyone outside the relationship between Joey and Corey to point fingers and say what Corey should have done or what the band would have done if Paul was alive in regards to Joey's failing health, but no one knows what the hell they're talking about other than Corey or Joey in that regard. Was Joey's health failing him in the wake of Paul's passing? Yes, but back in 2010-11, Joey misled a lot of people in regards to Slipknot's future and what the band was up to following Paul's death, and he said a lot of shit about Corey and Corey's apprehension to moving forward without Paul and even made allusions to Corey being fired from the band or that Corey's contribution to the band wasn't enough for him to not be fired. Joey is a legend and one of my all-time favorite drummers, and of course the argument could be made that his departure from the band was unceremonious, but he said a lot of fucked up shit about Corey when everyone was grieving Paul's passing. Regardless, I think Joey needed time to focus on his health. It sucks that things turned out this way, and it's impossible to reason with fate or to try to justify it. Both Corey and Joey are legends who wouldn't have become the worldwide myths in the annals of metal history without one another.
Slipknots one of those bands that are so secretive and you know what they want you to know which to be honest, that is completely ok given that they’re famous and all and not every band knows how to keep shit private. And you wish you could know all the details but unfortunately we cant. However regarding Joey’s death…everytime the conversation gets brought up you can tell something is never right with the answers. They either seem vague, dodgy or flat out sound like a lie. And we will never know any sort of truth regarding the band and their decisions.
I think it goes way back to the recording of AHIG. Joey recorded a lot of his stuff without getting the band's input and it forced them to record everything over his existing tracks. It's safe to say that Joey was probably taking artistic liberties and that's not how Slipknot flies. That would explain why Corey and Clown are the controlling members now because if someone acts "out of line" or takes liberties, they're out. I feel like that's at least part of it and the rest will forever be unknown. I definitely get the impression though that Corey and Clown have developed entitlement and have made the band a heirarchy. There's been several patterns of this with multiple people that are in either of Corey's bands and it points to this. I'm sure Joey wasn't perfect but he was a humble guy for someone who in my opinion was the soul of one of the biggest bands on Earth.
That's all I needed to hear. When people are left to speculate they end up running with the worst imagined scenario. Corey and the rest of Slipknot all cared very deeply for Joey - no matter what happened that resulted in their departure. What I think I, and many other fans want, is a song tribute to Joey. I'm still crossing my fingers that Chris and the Knot can put their differences aside - but I know it isn't gonna happen. 6/9 after 26 years is still pretty good.

He doesn't give shit, he hasn't for years he said it himself, they fired him from the band and said nothing to him until the day he died. Now we're supposed to believe your heartbroken over it? Bullshit.
They fired Joey from the band because he was suffering from a disease called transverse myelitis, so they had to get a new drummer. If Joey wasn't diagnosed with this neurological disorder, then he would certainly stay in the band.
@@cedricmissotten no, he was fired because his band mates thought he was on drugs, he didnt even know he had it at the time. They also didn't even say it to his face he got an email saying he was out of the band even though he was a founding member.

I'm an old school/ex-fan. Also, a Joey fan in general (I followed him in Murderdolls too). I don't think I ever cried over the death of a musician or celebrity until Joey. Slipknot used to be my favorite band for several years when I was in middle school/high school (I'm 30 now). I even saw them live a couple of times years ago. After Paul's death and Joey's departure I quit following them. I never would have imagined Slipknot without either of those guys, considering they were both founding members and main songwriters. They used to say they wouldn't continue on without each other. "We are the Nine. There is no one else. If I left the band, we'd be done. If Joey Jordison left this band, we'd be done." - Shawn Crahan (from an old Metal Hammer interview). If people still like Slipknot that's fine, I'm not here to tell anyone else how to feel, but as an older fan it's very difficult for me to be on board with current day Slipknot. I watched all the drama and bullsh*t unfold in real time, and boy did it leave a bad taste in my mouth. It seems like Slipknot is all about money these days. Selling their own brand of alcohol, NFTs, and expensive masks seem more important than their so called "brotherhood".
@@ResurrectionDreamsI'm on the same boat. I also clearly remember when a lot of this info was released online and then TGC came out and I instantly knew that Slipknot's golden era was long gone. I get choked up when Joey mentioned or even when I talk about him, Same thing with Paul. Slipknot was Joey's thing, It was what he enjoyed the most and Corey is just in it for the money, Joey should have been treated more respectfully than this. Because truthfully, Corey really doesn't give a shit about Joey or the rest of the band, Slipknot has became more of a business and all about the money more than a band. And i think Joey would be so disappointed that it has became this way. Joey was the only one who actually loved doing Slipknot and playing shows. On top of that, after firing Joey (for supposed substance abuse?), didn't Slipknot turn around and release their own brand of alcohol. That just reeks of hypocrisy to me. Can anyone tell the difference between this interview and paul death interview? Corey doesnt seem like his telling the truth probably sugar coating it. Its what he does best..
Exactly my thoughts
If it wasn’t for Joey I wouldn’t have known where my drumming would have got me to today. R.I.P. #1 you’re with Paul now :/
Ngl its a rude question to ask in front of everyone like that, or to bring it up in general like that
Lol
He deserves much worse.
