  • By mastertronc (1985). This game was one of the first games i ever played on the C64
    and that make me fallen in love with Rob Hubbard music masterpieces.
    The game itself is compound by five different levels, kinda hard to accomplish(especcially the fourth) but still a good challenge.

    Thank you for beating that game. When I was a young boy I had the game and never got past the first level, I thought I may have missed out on something. Thank you for showing us all that it was not just the first level that was shit, but every level afterwards as well. Bravo!

    Imagining 2000 in 1985... However, the human race is learning to wash hands in 2020. :)

    Ah, that log rolling was exhausting! Me and my brother used to switch joysticks for that part. Never got past the spider though.

    I used to play this game quite a lot as a kid and never could get past the first screen! Interesting to finally see what the rest of the game looked like

    That bit o' music that starts playing at level 2 (around 0:51) was so catchy, that my sister and I made up lyrics to go with it.
    We were about ten years old, so we weren't very good songwriters. I still remember the lyrics, though. 37 years later and I still remember the lyrics. The song goes:
    "The human race, the human race, the human race." but it's sung in-time to the music. Yeah, we were good at playing computer games, but not the best songwriters...

    How could Rob Hubbard give away his amazin' tunes for such a difficult game? Unreal! Thx for the upload ... 36 years later I finally get to see level2 and the other levels only to find out more gr8 tunes that i knew from intros.

    the first computer game i ever had, could not get past that spider level as a 7 year old and just had to know what the last level was. Was a bit underwhelmed but ultimately satisfied

      @@A-small-amount-of-peas Do you feel my remarks comparing the opening to Commodore 64 game "The Human Race" and Talk Talk's "It's my Life" are justified?

      @@A-small-amount-of-peas For what it's worth, I really enjoyed the artwork on the box, but since I could never clear the Ape picking bananas, a.k.a level 1, I was left as disappointed as you were prior to seeing a UA-cam video showing how the game progresses.

    Brillant, I remember playing this excessively as a kid, so difficult, I made it to the final level 5 on a few occasions, but that final level with only 1 or 2 lives left was completely impossible - great to finally see the ending after all these years 👍

    The music is amazing, unfortunately game is way too short, it was not uncommon in those days to have very short games.

    Wow just watched you complete the first level in record time!! It's so difficult. I didn't know you didn't have to eat the bananas!!! Are they just there to slow you down?

    • @Rattopaz
      @Rattopaz  4 роки тому

      Exactly, your only objective is the reach the big one in the top left corner, and it's not hard at all once you know the pattern to follow and when to move or stop. The hardest level is the 4th IMHO.

    • @TimelordUK
      @TimelordUK 4 роки тому

      @@Rattopaz hey rattopaz great to hear from you. I'll try to learn the pattern. This game gets a lot of rap for being crap. What do you think? Why is that? I had a zx spectrum as a child and my brother had a C64 and I only remember this game and Impossible Mission. I always liked Human Race, great music, but had no memory of it being this difficult!!

    • @Rattopaz
      @Rattopaz  4 роки тому +2

      @@TimelordUK Thank you. To be objective the game is not so good, but as a child, I liked it a lot anyway. Maybe the reason it was not a so liked game was its difficulty level, but the music is top-notch, one of my favorites ever on the C64. My favorite level is the 5th, the real human race, a great concept to run through the years with the death chasing you while playing that adrenaline music by Rob Hubbard.

    In chapter 4, you did know that when it is on red you can tread on any colour square (even red!), didn't you? Remember what it says at the beginning of the chapter - "Forget what you know, red means GO!". This was also one of my first and favourite C64 games. Loved the music.

    • @Rattopaz
      @Rattopaz  9 років тому +1

      This is weird, i played this game so much and never noticed this, probably cause when i was kid my English was almost nothing and i didn't read the hints at the beginning of the levels.
      Chapter 4 is so much easier now, i can just stay on red tiles and move only when the nogo-meter is pointing red
      Thanks for the advice!

    Not as shameless as Dr. Mario's Soundtrack ripping off Emerson, Lake and Palmer, but if I were Talk Talk, I'd be a little upset about this one.

    Subtune 4 is just musically wrong and just done by ear... poorly, and the pitch-bending in the chorus of the original is just too essential to ignore!
