2 different generation bikes. Of course the Duc will win. The RSVR is the same "generation" as the 999 Duc, that's a more fair comparison. Aprilia skipped a generation of bikes betweent the RSVR and RSV4. A 1060 RSVR will more than keep up with a 1098 due to the handling advantages.
these bikes were not made for dyno tests or straight lines. They are made for tracks. But these people are americans. If they try a curve the road will fill with bodies.
9 Years ago but still funny as fuck!!!
its all about the rider!! Aprilia still the SBK champions.... Champions!! Pretty sure the Duc sits 4th so far this year!!
The Dyno figures are wrong as max torque can not be produced at higher RPM than max power, as power is a function of torque x RPM. Maybe the RPM for torque is for power and vice versa.
Great! Love the new performance testing videos! Keep 'em coming!
The Ducati should win, as it is built for race, not much on reliability. Look at the price tags and compare them. While I own an Aprilia and love it, it isn't really a thoroughbred race engine. But the trade-off is that i spent less, and don't have the extreme maintenance headaches that come with owning a Duc.
the aprilia sounds way more restricted then the duc. As someone said earlier it would sound and perform much better that way (if they didn't do that already before reviewing). I still think the aprilia looks better.
You can. Lots of 160hp Bandit motors out there. But the Aprilia always gets better performance than the dyno would indicate... I think it's because of the way the v60 works. I've seen 138mph trap speeds out of the RSV-R in some magazines and that's not bad at all - GSX-R 750 territory.
i will think about
you gotta love the sound of those ducatis
117hp? Something not right there, My 2004 made 125hp before a PCV was fitted, now gives 133hp
depends on the dyno. the point is here that both bikes have been measured on the same. So if Yours is making 133 then the 1098 should be 150ish on the same dyno.
@D61664 Your exaggerating it a little i think- they didnt do a Desmosidici in this one. it was a 1098s (~$13,000 on e-bay for a GOOD one) the Aprilia goes for even less. Besides these are track bikes more so the Duc.
i think the aprilia looks cooler even though it has less power
@LEXRAP
They are, they are both Italian
Remember that in most cases a two cylinder will have to be 200-300 cc's bigger to match any given four cylinder it's racing against. However, the torque ratios are much better in twins. In the eighth-mile a twin will win, but in distance (and theory) an inline or v-four will spank it! It's all very relative to the machine and the person behind it. Oh...and a 750 would get destroyed by 1098. the 750 could never put up the 1098's numbers stock.
what is the difference between the factory version and the non-factory version aprilia
just on 750s.... a local guy here is running 10.5 sec down the 1/4 on a stock standard 2008 gsx-r 750. so as far as 1/4s go, thats comparable to the 1098 time posted in the video here...
The aprilias pretty good for a bike thats basically a decade old
Il own 1098....my regret Isabelle not have Aprilia...more reliability. Avoir une moto qui déchire c'est bien. Avoir une moto qui démarre tout le temps avec un entretien normal, c'est mieux.
So much for the RSV. I'll take a 1098 to match my S2R please..lol I wish
I'll bet that was an american magazine with their bullshit quarter times, If you can take a stock 1098 out to the drags and do 9.7's put it on youtube and I'll believe it then... no way a 1098 will beat a GSXR1000 down the quarter mile.
No 600 will ever put down 79 ft. lb. at the wheel. EVER. The 4 cylinder liter bikes dont even do that. Get the dealer optioned termignoni exhaust, ecu and air filter....This bike WILL run with any of the big 4's liter bikes.
117Hp 🤔
@MIGHTYSAMINYOURFACE
You serious lad? They are both italian twins
It's also a 4 cylinder motor...
My cuz has a new aprillia my godfather has a 1098 but i still side with the ducati
@odst117 Uh, cuz you can make a guy in a corvette/ferrari/lamborghini/you-name-it-pretty-much cry by spending less than a 1/4 of what he paid for and blowin the doors right of his car at a streetlight.
A stock 600 would need a hell of a tailwind and down slope to run 10's. GSX-R750 though will beat a 1098 with 350 less cc and for about 10 grand less haha.
a 600 can run 1/4 mile in 10....
im not arguing, but dsnt change the fact that a 600 CAN run 1/4 in 10 and i dont understand why whimps who prolly dnt kno anythin bout bikes and just like the number 1098 neg me
Aprilia is made for the track then let’s see the results
