Bike looks great in that livery! All the time and expense to take it back to the factory paint just to make it look worse would be a bitter pill to swallow. I would leave it as a period-correct custom that looks fantastic. Hopefully you can piece together the full history on the bike. Nice work, Grumble! -Tim
“That screw’s wrong!” Haha, love it. Bike is cool as fuck and looks seriously great in that paint scheme. Can see why previous owner had it in his living room.
@@vpweber It certainly does - the matt black against the fluorescent orange on the nose cowling/top fairing is stunning - the whole bike is stunning. Chris seems like a man who doesn't live with regrets, but I think he'd regret re-painting that scheme. It also adds to the uniqueness - out of the 150 RSV Mille SPs there can't be many, if any, that have that particular paint scheme. It's close enough to the standard scheme, so it doesn't appear outlandish, and the gold wheels look fantastic. I'd leave it - I don't think that it can be improved - I'd love to see it.
Griff is a legend in his own right , take him up on his offer and film it for us. The road version and your SP comparison. I remember being given a ride on a full factory race team 851 Ducati back in the 90’s . I could still tell you exactly how it felt to ride nearly 30 years later. This is how Griff would feel about a ride on the SP, Some things just mean that much !!! Thanks for sharing such an awesome bike, great content.

@@HeyAddieImTojo Always possible - Griff said on a podcast episode that he was working for Aprilia in Italy on many of the v-twins that were developed.
I love this bike so much. On my 2000 RSV mille I had these pipes running and even the Arrow manifold for the street legal bikes (because the cosworth heads have different manifold mountings). Only the 2-2 connection to the mufflers were missing and I planned to let me make some, to be able to enjoy the real 2-2 sound and power. Unfortunatelly there was an accident distroying my plans.. The sound of these two pipes (Aprilia SP Titanium) is so good.. not even too loud, but so so deep and crisp! I am really happy for you to get such a good pick with this bike. Enjoy!

As a bit of a Aprilia nut having the RS125, 08 RSV1000R and all being well soon a RS250 along with a 98/99 Millie 1000 would complete the stable of these phenomenal bikes. Stand out Vid. More of this. Grifs knowledge, passion and detail is supreme, almost zen. He needs to feature more. Love that bike, i had to pause the vid before you started her up i was that nervous. Congrats on an amazing purchase.
The current paint really highlights the gold accents and makes the orange pop in contrast with the finish being a matt instead of high gloss. I personally think it looks better like this than the original paint job. Carbon fibre stands out more to. Happy for you and the bike is legit.
Thank you for sharing this. I badly needed something positive today, and it did the trick. I have a soft spot in my heart for that era Aprilia's and awesome rotax engines. Couldn't stop smiling.
