One of my all-time fave episodes. First show back in the new year and you can tell they're all really up for it. So many classic moments: • Jumbo box of condoms • Do we need ‘em - octopuses • Celebrities as homeless • John’s got a moustache • That’s rickydiculous - honey badger • Aero-cobbler
My fave line in this is Karl’s comment about how nudists should have dark coloured sofas, and Ricky’s delayed realisation as to what Karl is getting at
Ye Ricky does this countless times across the shows, coercing Karl into saying something or speaking about something. Saying “hang on, what do you mean?!” or “wait, what happened?!”, when he already knows full well. And also getting Karl to swear sometimes by saying “course you can say that”. Ricky was obviously always quite manipulative of Karl anyway. Also, it is embarrassing that he bought Suzanne condoms, and you can tell he knows this, by not wanting to talk about it much, and being annoyed by Suzanne telling Ricky about it, so it begs the question why he did it in the first place! And how they are ‘Suzanne’s present’ I’ll never know! They’re a present for him more!
I love how you hear their friendship grow throughout these shows. They begin as strangers and then they're having Christmas day together. In interviews you can really feel the love between Ricky and Karl, no matter how much he rips the piss out of him.
smalla ss wheres that from? It seems like Ricky and Steve are friends and work colleagues, whereas Steve and Karl are work colleagues before friends. If you get what I mean. Funnily Karl seems to dislike Steve more than the other way, because for some reason he blames Steve for stuff he does once in a blue moon but doesn't complain that Ricky does it every week xD

I think this is mention in a later broadcast, but I love the way that, at the end of his call to the scientist, Karl is just like oh we won't get rid of them then. As if he actually is deciding if the animal gets to carry on existing or not.
Every time I hear this episode, I think Suzanne must have the patience of an angel. Admittedly, K.Dilkington is a sweet fellow and always gives his best .... but still .....

Ricky n Steve should've stayed together for projects. What Ricky did subsequently was great. But Steve would've made it better. People would still have realised Ricky was the driving force but recognised a great partnership. I sometimes think Ricky's ego got the better of him. You can hear it in these broadcasts the determination of Ricky to show who's the man. I just think (despite Ricky's success) it could've been even better. Reminds me a little of laurel n Hardy's internal struggles with who's boss getting in the way of the fact that they're both cherished.
