As a huge flames fan I find the way you guys assess Treliving hilarious, personally I give him very little credit for our drafting because we’ve had the same scouting team since before he was there and they’ve always been really good at it especially in the later rounds (they almost never pick in the top 10). Todd Button is even the one who usually makes the picks.

You have to do this during the summer for some of the current GM darlings and grade them on their best and worst deals and drafts!

The deal with Tree is he traded away the first round pick to ealy in the flames rebuild after a sniff at success. (harmonic trade). The more I reflect on his tenure the more I think he was kinda meh..
The real question is did he learn for his mistakes. also asset retention is horrible which is what the leafs need the most right now. He's too though of a negotiator rubs players the wrong way. coming from a Flames fan.

I would bet money if Dubas didn’t speak to the media against Shannys wishes, and try leverage his family for more money and instead just straight shot his offer back to Shanahan he’d probably still be in Toronto.
