    When I was a kid, we rode bicycles without helmets and sometimes had another kid on the crossbarm. We played hockey without pads and used magazines instead. One Christmas I got a pocket knife in my stocking. If there was a playground fight, the teachers would let the fight go on. But we turned oot to be more gentlemanly than the flower children and later generations.

    Flames have always had a great blueline under Treliving but they always needed scoring and goaltending. Leafs got scoring and some goaltending ig so if he rebuilds that blueline i think they can surprise everyone.

    It's mind blowing if the team brings back the same coach and the 4 guys. I'm so tired of hearing how Matthews is the best player in team history. He puts up numbers in the regular season, in a league that has been physically soft. He has shown no playoff killer instinct what so ever. Instill a mentality that losing is not an option if this team ever wants to change how they play in the playoffs.

    We have just witnessed Bell and Rogers approval of having the Boston Pizza empire become a minority owner. Remember Treliving's old man is mega rich. And Larry Tannebaum is not getting any younger. They talk about Shanahan this and that. Just follow the money and you will realize Shanahan was nothing but a yes man for Bell and Rogers. Treliving's old man has spent a small fortune in advertising on TSN and SportsNet.

      That's pretty much what I said...like if shanny hires a GM but then tells him oh u gotta keep the core 4 eh, then what the hell is the point of hiring a GM if the GM cant make his own decisions whether or not it's to keep the core 4 or whatever it may be. If ur gonna hire someone to manage the team then u should let him make the decisions to better the team, u better not be telling him who to keep or who not to keep.

      Toronto has a hugh problem on its hands. Matthews could very well ask for a cool $14 million to extend beyond next year. Shanny and brass will have little choice but to swallow hard and agree. Without Matthews, the chances of Toronto winning the cup anywhere in the near future drop from kind of good to zero.

      @@johnsummerhill8323 Brilliant! Of course you are aware the building's been selling out good teams or bad FOREVER right? YOU could have been Prez the last 9 years and it would sell out. Do Leaf fans want a Cup or boast they're Team is the most valuable? No one has been able to do this yet and I've been asking for years, please identify what the ShanaPLAN was? Detail how Shanahan contributed to the Leaf's position as MVT? IF what a VP of HO does has no bearing on the Team's profitability, should his focus then be on winning the prize???

    • @johnsummerhill8323
      @johnsummerhill8323 Рік тому

      @@bobbygoodman2875 Board of governors are concerned about bottom line. The value of the team has increased substantially in the last few years, and Shanahan has been part of that. His hockey plan is to first reach the playoffs , in other words, to have very good regular seasons , which is where the money is made, firstly by selling the product to media, and then by selling seats for the most money possible to generate as much money as possible
      Hiring the right marketing people throughout the organization would fall under his list of chores. I have been told that the sale of merchandise throughout the country actually covers the players salaries, so that would be considered successful. Playoff success is not nearly as profitable as the NHL takes a huge chunk of the media and seat sale revenue. Playoff success is obviously desired, and although the team makes the playoffs, they are only now making further inroads . So I am sure Shanahan is not losing sleep worrying about his job. Of course, Brian Burke lost his job for looking messy at board meetings so anything can happen.

    I think its insane to think its the same team if they dont ditch marner and matthews. 10 UFAs more in contract year. We need a number 1 goalie and two top 6 muscle players…. Then shore up defense with hard hitters. We just lost holl mr playoff -13 player. That alone increases chance of a cup.
