Especially in regards to battery life. What put me off all the Windows handhelds was how much shorter the battery life was if you wanted to use any of the extra power on the go.

Very easy for companies to just say "ah that will be fixed in the production version" to any issues found with pre-production units. I reckon LMG should stop covering pre-production units.

I wonder how fast the push-mechanism fails on this thing. And i would hope they release their software (overlay, special buttons, etc) for linux, so you had a real steam deck competitor (anything that runs windows isn’t). Great to see companies push these devices, it’s always good to have options 👍
Including the regional adapters anything that can do multiple power standards is something that all companies should do, as an American stationed in Germany it can be a pain buying something and realizing i don't have enough adapters to actually use it.
Not gonna lie, with a touchscreen and some of the issues sorted out, that's a solid product. Some of the stuff like the steam deck or ally are just a bit too big in some cases. I played on a PSP for years and loved every second at a small screen size.
Not just only for games. These devices are very midi mappable as if bolting a Floyd Rose whammy bar to it, gradiently pitch bending notes and other real time adjustable effects, a viable performance vehicle for musical landscaping that is very mobile and comfortable as a Fender Strat with the ergonomics of form factor. Install a Digital Audio Workstation interface, a VST wall of Marshall stacks, and you've got a concert waiting to happen. I have the GPD Win3 version of this slider screen. Sure, my eyes have bugged out somewhat and often rely on memory of the tiny micro sized button arrays within running a DAW type interface, though can send it to a larger screen or wearable AR/VR glasses and keep your right to mobility mode activated.
I feel like the video correction was a good way to mention and fix the (I wouldnt call it error cause you didnt make a mistake AYA did) problem. I sadly am more of a fan for bigger screens but the tilting screen and performance are very cool!
Your insights, especially on the uniqueness of the packaging and the actual gaming performance, were very informative. Also, it's good to know about the minor issues, hopefully, they get sorted out in the final product.

I guess I'm one of the dozens of people who bought the legion go. I will say, it by far is my favorite device. I really like the dual USB4 ports and the fact that the controllers are detachable. It fits my hands significantly better than the steam deck and the screen size.... The screen size and AMD integer scaling are incredible.

Basically no real notable difference.
I love all of the handhelds even though I've never touched any of them. The deck, the Aly, the go... they are all cool and I'd love to have one. I just stream to a 15 inch laptop on my nightstand lol
It's funny, everybody complains about fan noise (especially on the Steamdeck), but when I got my Deck, it wasn't loud at all. It's just a little bit of background white noise, so unless you have weirdly sensitive hearing and are annoyed by it, it's not a problem...and if you are using the speakers or headphones you notice it even less. I ended up switching it back to the older "basically runs max all the time" mode so it would be a bit cooler.
This reminds me so much of my old Palm Pre - the little phone that should have beat the original iPhone. The solid shnick of the screen sliding up to reveal the keyboard, the rounded organic shape - I know, it's ridiculous for a handheld gaming computer to be favorably compared to a failed obsolete phone (but I am large, I contain multitudes).
The GPD win 4 had a 7840U refresh and they all 7840U models basically function the same. Though the Win4 and Win Max 2 have better end battery life when full power stressing
Am I the only one who would prefer a 720p screen on this with either higher refresh rate or longer battery life? Pixel density is plenty high on that little screen.
Of all the handheld PC gaming devices so far, this one might look the most refined. Everything else still "feels" a lot like you're holding a prototype.

thanks for description. I was watching and interested, about at thementioning the lack of touchscreen part, when the video suddenly stopped.
I bought the LEG and I've not regretted it at all.
Legion go?
Love the in video edits, they actually add a little to the video since they're kinda funny.
that sliding monitor is a huge advantage, probably one that people dont realize till they use it, gonna save a lot of necks
It's a second time i watch LTT do a preview on these early Ayaneo handhelds that barely function. Why even send units with major design flaws to the media? They certainly don't inspire confidence in the product.
That last video just tipped the scales towards just getting the ally.
To gain more people "join" the campaign, unlike other stable companies, they need money to progress.
Sending samples to reviewer kinds of cheap targeted marketing with disclaimer "pre production unit, any bug/cons will be solved later" (maybe not).
@@FaridRudiansyah I guess it works well enough for them since they are still in business. Personally i got a very bad impression from the thing breaking on camera and then finding more bad things in the comments. Like dodgy customer support.
I like the review.
A little suggestion:
The Steam Deck seems to be the reference point for performance and it would be amazing to add it in the graphs for comparisons. Yes, I can look up numbers, but it is difficult to find a benchmark with the exact same settings, resolution , etc.
Especially in regards to battery life. What put me off all the Windows handhelds was how much shorter the battery life was if you wanted to use any of the extra power on the go.
Thanks for unlisting and correcting this. Although I feel like this is clearly AYANEO's mistake, still great to have the video show the correct information.
Just want to say that this video is really well presented - especially the first two minutes
We have now returned to smartphone technology from 2010 lmao. I miss my phone with the slideout QWERTY keyboard
Yay, now i can enjoy our sponsor yet again :D
10/10 for correcting the touch issue, regardless of blame. U guys have always been upfront and honest, and you're always getting better
I liked the way that correction went, and the inclusion of the whole segment with Linus reacting to not having a touchscreen in his hands. I thought its a great way to handle that its a review unit and different from what will hit my hands. Though I thought the whole thing last year was blown out of proportion so...
astrocactus3910
Fash and windows failed to support modern hardware, click here crab....
Legion GO is a powerhouse once you set it up and go into BIOS settings to incredibly battery charge speed etc. Super fun device yes heavy but it’s a great feeling
This is a wise choice. Instead of letting the misinformation stay in many people's mind who watched it yesterday like I did, re-upload, add the description and the extra info in the video. Very nice way to handle this! :)
Seems like common courtesy to give an explanation. Praise seems a bit excessive.
There's so many people critising them, in my opinion over the top, that when they do something right it should be pointed out & applauded.
@@Kirsty_McKay I can understand that sentiment.
Finally the gpd win4 has competition. I love this vita-esqe design with a keyboard.
Sticking to the procedures when major errors are found. Great stuff.
Thanks for the re-upload!
Nice to know, thank you for the correction update
I really liked the post-production info edits!
I haven't seen any of these that make me seriously question or regret my Steamdeck purchase yet, but I'm glad there is competition.
Same. here's hoping for more competitive hardware.
Legion Go is much better than my steam deck
don't know man, my steam deck just works, no weird ui glitchs or shenanigans
The Steam Deck effectively popularized the format; most of these companies kinda owe Valve for pushing it to the masses. What I'm sad about is that unlike Valve they all use Windows.
@@amunak_ Really, the not having windows is actually probably my biggest gripe with the steam deck. There are a lot of games I would love to be able to run on the steam deck that don't use steam or just don't really run well on steam deck.
It looks nice... But 6" display just won't cut it for me. After using the Legion Go at nearly 9", I have trouble going back to the Steam Deck at 7"... -She
Reminds me of an extra large Motorola Sidekick. Definitely helps with the issue of having to add text.
I like the idea of the flip up screen to reveal a keyboard, but something tells me in actual daily driving the unit and extended use will mean either hinge failures, or ribbon cable displacement/disconnection. Honestly feel like the latter is the issue you guys probably got with the screen at the end there.
I very much like that you have communicated with Ayaneo, to clear up some problems. I find it very cool that you guys take the criticism seriously.
Thanks for the AUDIO advice of having touchcreen, i was cleaning i was about to be upset that the ayaneo didnt had a touchscreen
The most unique handheld gaming device yet, which looks exactly the same as GPD handheld gaming sliders.
Wow, crazy that their unit was just incomplete, leading to a very different over all impression.
Very easy for companies to just say "ah that will be fixed in the production version" to any issues found with pre-production units. I reckon LMG should stop covering pre-production units.
@@politta They were sent it, given the ok to cover it, and probably asked nicely to cover it by the company, why would they have any reason not to. I honestly can't see how people can put the blame on lmg here.
I wonder how fast the push-mechanism fails on this thing. And i would hope they release their software (overlay, special buttons, etc) for linux, so you had a real steam deck competitor (anything that runs windows isn’t). Great to see companies push these devices, it’s always good to have options 👍
"A little VHS box" I knew Linus was short, but I guess now we have a frame of reference for exactly how small he is!
Including the regional adapters anything that can do multiple power standards is something that all companies should do, as an American stationed in Germany it can be a pain buying something and realizing i don't have enough adapters to actually use it.
Commenting to support since you guys reuploaded :)
Not gonna lie, with a touchscreen and some of the issues sorted out, that's a solid product. Some of the stuff like the steam deck or ally are just a bit too big in some cases. I played on a PSP for years and loved every second at a small screen size.
I still have my psp and visit every couple years, great handheld
@@ipanesmthe PSP was just perfect. I loved the hell out of it as a kid.
You'll love the GPD WIN 4 then.
Great to see LMG trying to correct mistakes in their videos, even if it's caused by a third party.
smh
Trying and failing
@@ProfWereW how did they fail, exactly. please, explain it in detail
Even if this wasn't a complete mistake by them because they were sent one without any touchscreen and it isn't even anywhere on ayaneo's website
@@deadair32101 it's a troll
keyboard reminds me of my enV Touch from like 2010. Loved that phone!
Love my Steam Deck Oled. Great for my lunch breaks at work.
I'm really loving the look and size of the device!
They really trying to bring the sidekick back. I'm here for it.
lol thank you for clarifying on the touch screen!!!!
I bought a Legion Go! I love it!
Love the packaging and the size of the device
Sliding displays and keyboards are my first widget spinner :D LOVE THEM
The packaging actually resembles more a BetaMax tape bcs of the stripes in orange and purple, much like the Dynamicron tapes.
I feel like the video correction was a good way to mention and fix the (I wouldnt call it error cause you didnt make a mistake AYA did) problem. I sadly am more of a fan for bigger screens but the tilting screen and performance are very cool!
Welcome back chonky plastic keyboards from the 2000s, we've missed you
Your insights, especially on the uniqueness of the packaging and the actual gaming performance, were very informative. Also, it's good to know about the minor issues, hopefully, they get sorted out in the final product.
Linus, please please give the legion go another try. Daily drive it if you can. It’s such an amazing machine. I have the Ally and the go and I never, ever reach for my ally. We need the support of people like you in order for this device to succeed. Hope you consider doing this. Thanks!
Ooof, good catch. Gotta wonder why they didn't highlight that in all-caps, all-bold 120 typeface, in their press sheet. PRODUCTION UNIT WILL HAVE TOUCHSCREEN.
i'm so much more interested now that i know it has a touchscreen but it's so strange usually preproduction units wouldn't have such a vital feature missing
its more likely that it has a touchscreen and the ribbon cable was nicked in the build process, hence the screen freak out in the video.
Linus: "I would have put the fan curve a bit lower even though there's little noise"
Linus after trying out silent mode: "okay the device is becoming uncomfortably warm"
I don't always agree with how fan curves are optimized, but from what I can tell this means anayeo has done a spot on job of balancing cooling and noise.
Ngl, (this coming from a steam deck user) out of all the handheld pc's, this is the one I'm the most interested in
It reminds me a little of my old sidekick I used to love
I really like the way it looks.
I love the new ltt policies for accurate info ❤
I guess I'm one of the dozens of people who bought the legion go.
I will say, it by far is my favorite device. I really like the dual USB4 ports and the fact that the controllers are detachable. It fits my hands significantly better than the steam deck and the screen size.... The screen size and AMD integer scaling are incredible.
Yep, didn't understand the hate on the LLG in this. Is it because they did a half baked review (no labs screen shots on that review), or because Linus is shilling for Asus? Either way, Legion Go is ridiculously good.
@@TheMightyid As a Steam Deck LCD owner, I'd definitely choose the Legion Go over this and the Steam Deck LCD. I'm still at war internally if I want a Steam Deck OLED or a Legion Go. Literally if the Legion Go had VRR I'd be all over it. It's a feature that has already reaaaaaally mattered to me. I'm hardcore sensitive to seeing tearing.
@@hemeonhaving both a Legion Go and a Deck OLED, I consider them the best of two worlds, a Windows tablet / gaming machine and a Linux portable device.
Seriously, i feel legion go users need to defend their product at every turn.
Insecure much?
@Alucardgab13 I wanted a windows handheld so my mods would work. Streaming from my laptop on the go, and my desktop at home have made it so I can play with my mods on my Steam Deck so I'm less motivated to switch to a windows handheld. Honestly, really excited for what the next generation of these handhelds are gonna look like. 9000 series Ryzen that is. 8000 series is basically confirmed to be just a refresh. Basically no real notable difference.
i genuinely missed t this kind of content from linus talking about revolutionary devices
the tilting slide-up screen is awesome, now i wish it could tilt a bit more
I love all of the handhelds even though I've never touched any of them. The deck, the Aly, the go... they are all cool and I'd love to have one. I just stream to a 15 inch laptop on my nightstand lol
I though the VHS box might be a little off scale, but then I remembered, oh, it's Linus...
Never thought we'd be watching Linus play Doom Eternal while his TT's reflect on the screen😂
3:56 There's an updated version of the GPD Win 4 that uses the 7840u.
Linus only reviewed the 6800u version, so I understand the mistake.
The thickness reminds me of the old Sega Nomad.
You should do a video on the Odin 2, this thing is a beast for retro-emulation
The GPD win 4 had a 7840U refresh and they all 7840U models basically function the same. Though the Win4 and Win Max 2 have better end battery life when full power stressing
who's buying the legion go? well it's the only handheld in existence that fits comfortably in my hands so...
I can’t wait to see you guys checking out the gpd win mini man that thing is nice!!! I love mine
What a great Gru impression
Am I the only one who would prefer a 720p screen on this with either higher refresh rate or longer battery life? Pixel density is plenty high on that little screen.
Of all the handheld PC gaming devices so far, this one might look the most refined. Everything else still "feels" a lot like you're holding a prototype.
I love how TWELVE years after Windows 8 release Windows is still not designed to adequately use it with a virtual keyboard.
The T-mobile sidekick making a comeback i see .😊 sweet
