They went from FUCK THE OSCARS to sucking off a bunch of hollywood people gamers didn't care about. If they stopped at Keanu Reeves that would be alright, but they really forced it this time. No wonder the movie game won everything.

That's got everything, great visuals, good story, great acting, gameplay is solid, and they added in a multiplayer later. Nah, they went for the true movie game with lots of scripted parts and a lot of controversy that followed.

How so? They had really poor choices before 2017, that's when i think they gradually got better at the voting
2016 and 2013 were complete shitshows, while 2014 was just a bad year for videogames in general

The celebrity stuff is to keep Hollywood relevant. The pandemic put a huge dent on film and TV industry so they know most people are cooped up playing video games. They need to remind people of these stars and films so you stream and watch tv and films still.

Geoff Keighley is ruining this industry, I don't care about the Last of Us 2 winning awards, but what's with all the celebrity appearances? It was so obvious all of them were reading from teleprompters and had hardly any enthusiasm. It's just pandering to promote their next movie/tv show. The only appearance which made sense was Zachary Levi when he made the joke about opening the envelope with a microtransaction.

I fully respect your position, and I wish more people took that stance.
People seem eager to give massive faceless gaming companies like EA, Blizzard, and Bethesda a million chances after they put out broken, half baked, overpromised, overpriced piece of shit games that 9x out of 10 get abandoned down the line.
But from what I've experienced in No Man's Sky since release, I gotta say it has become exactly the game I hyped myself up for.
I don't feel that the lies deserved them facing enough credible death threats to get the police involved.
I do feel it mattered that while the game was in the middle of being made, their entire studio flooded.
I don't know if it all can be blamed squarely on Shaun Murray either, who took out a mortgage on everything he owned just to keep them going.
Who owned up to making too many promises with the naive vision that they could do it. He seriously thought they could do it, even though they had never made such a huge game before.
He should've known better. But I gotta ask, how could he? He never wanted to appear in front of a camera, which scares the shit out of him, he admits.
Believe me, I was fucking pissed off at him. But after I played the following updates, after seeing everything he's suffered through and achieved with his team since then, my god would I have to be a seriously fucking POS to not forgive him.
Instead of running with the money, they spend the next four years of their life's making good on almost all their promises.
