A buggy mess of a game that still has the third highest player count in steam.
70% of the budget went to hiring Keanu, 25% to advertisements and 5% to the actual game
OVERHYPE 2077
You might think this is an exaggeration but painfully, this is the truth.
Damn, thats more than i thought went to the game!
So painful yet so accurate damn what this game could have been
All this potential gone to waist
pretty sure half of that budget went to marketing
And don’t forget breathtaking man actor guy
Also a lot of resource spent on pandering to streamers and celebrities by putting them in the game. It's like like all the attention went to stupid details while not dedicating any time to actually getting all the elements ready. Are people really that amazed by blatantly obvious "easter eggs"? That's basically bribing the audience because their favourite streamer/celeb is in the game
@@Seyanoo Leave Keanu outta this! He's the only reason to play the game -- he did his job...
Fuck CD Projekt Red though. Didn't even let me get my refund ;-;
and the other half into keanu reeves and customized music
@@redReiRei they don't paid streamers for that, that was confirmed by a streamer named alexelcapo and i trust their word, the streamers accepted being in the game for free because it was cd projekt red just like why ppl preorder this disaster, the money went to the insane marketing of the game.
I'm so glad i'm not the kind of gamer that believes what AAA companies say.
yeah thats a pretty slam dunk assessment from now on. CDPR is no fucking different.
I always play cracked days before the real deal also i NEVER preorder. Can you blame me? Tops i can buy a game on day 1 release, and even so only after seeing or playing something. I'm not rich so when i buy games, i only put money on good stuff.
As a witcher 3 pleb, I did have hopes for this game to look and feel as good as playing geralt in his world.
I'm glad I didn't have money at the time of cyberpunk's release.
I was fooled once as kid before the launch of destiny (didn't bought the game) and since then i was never hyped for a game again.
I don't understand why others can't do the same.
If you play on pc the games fine.
Never buy a game before you've seen actual game play, not scripted cut scenes.
They showed us gameplay they just didn’t show us the rest of it
I'm not one to usually buy Triple A games for Day 1, but the "48-minute gameplay demo" is what pulled me in. Nothing said _"WE ARE PRO-CONSUMER" more than CDPR letting us have this much footage of their secret product._
Them being confident enough to showcase that much, on top of their glowing reputation DRMless Platform and one GOTY, "how could it POSSIBLY go wrong?"
Cyberpunk 2077 (in its current state) Needed to happen. Now people will know to never trust any trailer ever again,
either that OR we'll shrug it off as we usually do, but maybe this being the most hyped game of all time will break that cycle.
@@JeremyBX All we can do is hope...

Turns out, if you treat a respected game studio with too much leniency, sooner or later, they'll take advantage of you too.
I told everyone this 3 years ago. Did you listen? Nope.
It happened with gta online and its greedy shark cards
@@JPX64Channel With Rockstar it's more complex, because while the online side of things shows how disgustingly greedy they are, the actual single player experiences are amazing and far beyond anything that any other devs can do. They fully deliver on their promises for single player experiences.
@@EndOfSmallSanctuary97 While that's true, I can see that coming to an end in light of online. Gta V was supposed to have some single player dlc. Never happened. Same thing with Rdr2. And from what I hear, they wanted to make gta 6's story shorter. Just a rumor? Probably. Would I be surprised if they actually did that? Well, after seeing how much focus they put into their shark cards, no. I wouldn't be. I'm just buying every game in deep discount from now on.
@@jakdaxter6033 I still believe that R* will deliver a great single player GTA 6. They are probably now working hard on that, their main team was busy with RD 2, now I doubt they are just sleeping lol. The GTA 5 Online team is a small part of R*, and with the money from Sharkcards they have a good budget for GTA 6.
The bugs are actually saving the game. If the game had no bugs people would realize that the game itself has a lot of shortcomings. Basic things like AI, engine, movement/physics are poorly made. No amount of patches can make this game live up to the expectations we had for it but the bugs make people believe it will be fixed eventually so they still buy it or don't bother to ask for a refund
Well said

It was the ultimate scam lol and ppl are still being fooled w the lowered prices n shit
“Fallout 4 was buggy though! Skyrim too! You didn’t complain then!”

To be honest, i have a shitty PC so i still plays LE Skyrim and it is no where near this 🤣😂 it sure do have bugs but no where near this🤣😂
Played Skyrim since its early days, the most i've encountered was bugs in The Blade questline and a few more.
Not THIS much of a disaster.
@@LaVitaNouva Seen a lot of people comparing it to Bethesda in regards to bugs. Honestly, outside of FO76 Bethesda have never made a game as buggy as this. Skyrim had a good handful of bugs but in CP2077 can’t go 60 seconds without experiencing some sort of bug, from shitty AI and T-poses, to resetting settings, save file size limits and game breaking quest bugs.
@@chrispeacock1257 that is why i kinda surprise when ppl bring skyrim to this. It makes me question myself" am i playing the same Skyrim as them ?"🤣😂
I rarely encountered any bugs playing Skyrim when it first came out let alone game breaking bugs this game is like an ant hill
Remember when this game was tagged with „masterpiece” on steam before it even came out?
Triple A games are a bad joke, same said for journalism.
@@JohnFortniteKennedy_ I never watched the stream but I can imagine.
The biggest joke is that the cyberpunk setting is just window dressing - it's nothing more than light brights and some japanese written around the place.
You're saying it doesn't represent the cyberpunk genre very well.
All I wanted was a good cyberpunk sandbox game and when I saw the game announcement and a lot of people getting angry about how the environment design wasn't cyberpunky I was just thinking they were exaggerating at first but the more I saw the more I realised thag they were right
Agreed. There aren't even flying cars, which is a standard for ANY future setting.
Exactly, the environment didn't compliment the gameplay. It was like gta5, the open world meant nothing and it could've been cut out without anything being lost

All my Respect for CD Project Red has gone down the drain.
I learned my lesson, I won't be pre ordering again.
Thank you CD Project Red for teaching me a valuable lesson.
The hilariously sad part is that even without the bugs, it's a laughably shit game underneath.
This. Zero innovation, no next gen. All has been done before and a lot better.
Yep an absolutely shallow experience. The only thing next gen about this game is its system requirements.
Basically, what I think happened is that somewhere around 2019 they decided to (1) rewrite the story to fit Keanu and (2) jump into the ray-tracing bandwagon with both of these consuming a lot of developers’ time and bringing no gameplay value. Just imagine: (1) people responsible for quests, cutscenes, etc had to scrap material they’d already had for years and spend extra time on planning, re-writing, re-editing while (2) tech people had a completely new rendering technology needed to be implemented that required to update their whole game engine and sacrifice AI, 3rd person view, parkour features.
@@evergreen- It's funnt, because despite all, the game still manages to look pretty good. It did not, and does not, need RTX to have impressive lighting, reflections and shadow-work.
And that's really about all the praise i have for the game, lol.
@@peste2574 that’s what I’m telling you: they probably had spent massive amount of time creating the visuals which would have looked amazing anyway, but then they decided to implement RTX

Now we should be thanking them because we’ll have an actual good open world game to play.
@Stoni i Agreed even with future bug fixes the game still looks and feels neutered.
I've bought Gta V for 360, One X, and I'll be buying it for Series X. That company deserves all of our support. I'm pumped for Gta 6. Cyberjunk needs go to the trash heap
@Stoni i i disagree about animations because when interacting with objects and reloading weapons it is well done
It's not just bugs. It's features, large chunks of story content, interactions, possibilities being cut out. Leaving game broken, barely functional on all levels including story and gameplay. Patches and other crap won't fix something that's not present in there. Story of V will be forever in this mess. What a real shame. Writers certainly did a great job, what a damn shame their work got butchered to save development time and do dozens of boring similar little quests, which are in no way connected to the great plot.

The thing is, even if they do iron out all of these major bugs, there is still gonna be all these lazy and weird design choices and mechanics in the game that are extremely bare-bones and shallow as hell and they will never be improved upon.
The way racing, police, civilians, general A.I and other major factors that contribute to an open-world game like this will never be improved upon. It'll just end up as shallow as a typical Ubisoft open-world game. It would be a miracle if all these things were drastically changed in the future but I highly doubt that will happen.
Maybe in the definitive next gen versions. But right now what we are playing feels rushed and put together badly on consoles. Pc is also experiencing issues so it's a all around problem
Right, and I’ve been saying it’s gonna take a lot more than a few updates to do that especially if the bugs are this bad, to fix all of that and add to the game what they promised will take years to test and do, I just find it funny other past FPSRPGS have had more features than this game but some people call it the best game of 2020 still and sure if your satisfied with playing the outerworlds meet blade runner
eh well some people will love exactly that
And not a single bartender in Night City will give you a drink. Now that's a real shame.
Absolutely the looter mechanic is the fking worst in this game and you collect all this food that serves no purpose. Just a shallow rip off of other major game mechanics shity deus ex with a stupid fools journey that makes no sense cause they ripped it from Persona's popularity.
So this is how CDPR dies. To thunderous memes.
At least Bethesda has 3rd person as well as 1st person options.
To be honest, 1st person work very well with the setting and the map of night city, industrial city where every single block is a narrow sized, but very vertical skyscrapper, bethesdas game is great with 3rd person because the map setting is very breathable (wasteland, medieval mountains etc), 3rd person will be very janky in a clausthrophobic space

@@kylemelo6921 CDPR became greedy. Not the devs.
They are not really that greedy. They just have studio mismanagement or poor leadership. At least they are not on the likes of EA ,Activision,or Bethesda.
Even disregarding the bugs and glitches (which are 100% on the devs just as much as they are on management, given 3 full delays and 8 years), the final game is absolutely not what was pitched in 2012-2013. Everything from the tone to it being an actual RPG is completely flipped on its head.
You mean 3 and a half years? This game was not in development for that long but ok you know everything
My dude, publishers have been lying and glorifying unfinished products for almost a decade. The only ones at fault here are the obsessed customers that buy whatever is advertised without any form of restraint. Pre-orders and early access. If anything I praise the publishers for earning millions at the expense of ignorant customers. Bravo, I want a piece of that.
Anyone who couldn’t see this game being too overhyped was delusional. It was obvious from the constant delays, only very specific gameplay shown, and the one selling point being the fact that a John Wick/Matrix actor gave his likeness to a character.
Though it’s hilarious to see people defending the game even though it doesn’t work on PS4/Xbox consoles and even the PC version is bug-riddled. This game is trash and defending the game because they were able to dupe buyers is such a stupid point to make.
@@L4Disillusion Considering your average consumer doesn’t understand how actual game development works, the general consensus is when a game is announced, it’s being worked on. Even though it should have been obvious CDPR was focused on TW3. Still, no need to be a dick.
gta wannabe , total fail
People that are still defending this game are delusional. Even if they were to fix all the bugs it would still not even be close to a “next gen open world rpg” there’s nothing do do in the open world except for kILl BaD GuY. It’s embarrassing to admit I started to see what’s really wrong with this game (Besides bugs) after clocking in 130 hours. What they promised and advertised compared to what we got is downright disrespectful.
Close to 90 hours and I’m done with the game, I had fun but the longer you play it the more you see it’s flaws. The games is unfinished and with all the cool features they remove makes it even worse, I’ve honestly went back and started playing Fallout 3, Mass Effect, Kingdom come deliverance, such to name a few and my god in terms of RPG they blow Cyberpunk out of the water. It’s a damn shame cause I love CDPR.

No, it's not embarrassing. I appreciate there are people out there who took their time and played the game before giving their opinion. Most people haven't even played it yet they go sperging online about how bad it is. Don't get me wrong, the game is a major disappointment and I'm just sad because it had the potential to be a masterpiece and I'm not defending it by any means, but please if you want to give your opinion about cp2077, at least play it before you do. You can really tell most people haven't even played the game from the fact that they keep mentioning bugs as if they are the main problem of the game, while in reality the problems are other and, unfortunately, not as easy to fix ad the bugs
Marketing guy definitely needs to be fired however I feel like cyberpunk is a very good game just not as an rpg.
@@xRevTheoryx So according to your logic you're saying i can't say shit taste like shit before i eat it, despite looking and smelling like one. In fact buying this shit before it is fixed would actually give less reasons for CCPR to actually fix this mess.
Forget about bugs, the whole design of this game is just so stale. The "open world" is just a glorified loading screen to look at while you go from story mission to story mission or crappy generic side gig to generic side gig. Back in 2013(GTA V) when internet wasn't really mainstream all over world, they had to waste a lot of money on TV commercials.
Although CP2077 is new game people were actually very hyped cause of their brutal success with witcher 3. I think at one point they realized this game can be biggest of all time If we can hire keenu and using his popularity to get more business. I think due to addition of keenu this game lost its original intended direction. Basically everything rewritten from scratch and they had to code everything to fit him in the already 70% complete project. Yes.
Most certainly a No Man's Sky. The PC version doesn't seem that much worse than the usual buggy launch, and CDPR fixed up The Witcher 3 which also had issues. The main thing is the last gen console ports, which will probably still look like shit after the patches, but it won't be so buggy and run at a more stable framerate. The PS5 and Series X versions will basically be comparable to the PC version with the fixes.
Also, the thing with Fallout 76 was that it was just an ass game, regardless of bugs. Cyberpunk seems fairly decent once you seperate it from the hype train that it inevitably couldn't live up to, it's just rough on a technical level for the time being.
By next December this will probably be fine tbh.

Definitely looking forward to some more inside news.
But I'd say that the timeline is realistic to some extent. They could've made a Witcher 4 game faster but this still requires some planning. Many teams do things simultaneously but some are dependent on certain things to come to fruition, so taking parallel and sequential tasks into account, if you count 1 to 2 years in accumulation for planning and hiring, 1 to 2 years for an engine overhaul to make better use of 64 bit precision, better object container support, better item management, AI pathing in a more condensed area compared to The Witcher 3, with preliminary and final art, concept, environmental design, and continued engine support if they're using agile development, in addition to (like you said) mismanagement (though all teams have this to some extent). It's not entirely unrealistic. Not defending them because mismanagement would have DEFINITELY occurred, thereby being results of conflicts between scope vs. time. Everyone has it to some extent, some more than others. But we gotta remember also that studios from Rockstar already have a functioning model with many successful practices under their larger belts.
Not many games are often announced years before they're released. That being said, hopefully they learn their lesson, along with the errors that were made.
