      The hybrid solution is trash imo compared to the original formula.... it takes 24hr (maybe longer) to cure vs instant. if you have fog/wet climate, prepare to have tons of water spots. worst thing is if you have any trees near by. tree oil and water spot = nightmare. stick with seal and shine. I'll say the only thing you gain from hybrid is a little more gloss.

      New Seal n Shine is better for durability than ceramic spray coating. But Ceramic Spray coating has better gloss. Thats from my own personal 4 month study with half the hood using seal n shine new formula and the other half using ceramic spray coating. One thorough hand wash once a week. Both given a full 24 hour cure. No second coat and no toppers. Next time I will do a second coat for both 24 hours after the 1st coat and see which one lasts longer. My money is on Seal n Shine.

Great job as always Jimbo!

      Thing is, having been around for as long, they probably have a lot of more money available to invest in the research than other companies. Meguiar's could do the same, but I feel they prefer to capitalize on what's trendy on the moment whereas you can clearly see Turtle Wax went their own way with the ICE lineup and completely hit a homer with it.

    Seal N Shine mixed with their Ice Spray Wax is a powerful combo. Beats most entry/mid-range ceramic coatings. Makes me think why they even came out with a hybrid ceramic line when their ICE line is so powerful.

    • @AyySorento
      @AyySorento 4 роки тому +4

      @@lifesstudent4278 If you have time, you want them both to cure before applying. So for example, use seal n shine, then let cure for a few hours. The go back over with spray wax and let cure. In the future, after every maintenance wash, use the spray wax to finish and top off on seal n shine every 4-6 months. If you don't let them cure before layering, sure it will still be great protection, but they may not adhere correctly and it could be a waste of product. With how cheap turtle wax products are though, you could use seal n shine for everything and get great results.

    I've used the new formula and it still falls short on UV/heat resistance. I live in Texas and it did not hold up well in constant 95-100 degree weather /sunlight after about a month. While it's still a good deal for $10 there are better products to use with better UV protection.

    • @scottmattern482
      @scottmattern482 4 роки тому +4

      That is the biggest variables missing from any torture test, missing the factor of time and UV deterioration. Yeah, the adams graphene spray mightve failed the torture test quicker, but in real life in Colorado, from my experience, adams holds up much better than seal n shine on dark colors. However, $10 and being widely available, tw makes a desirable product.

    • @LoveLikeaHurricane
      @LoveLikeaHurricane 4 роки тому +1

      I. Surprised it didn’t last in heat with you, considering Apex detail put a heat gun/torch on it with the original formula.
      What other products have you tried that has lasted better for you?

    • @scottmattern482
      @scottmattern482 4 роки тому +1

      @@LoveLikeaHurricane I have not done any controlled experiments, but for example griot's 3 in 1 ceramic spray lasted longer on my sisters car than seal and shine on my bro in laws car. Bro in law csr is black. Sisters car is a dark gun metal grey. Both are regularly garaged. Both applied around the same time. That is the best anecdotal evidence I have. I have strong suspensions that many sealants and spray ceramics outperform seal and shine. Dont get me wrong, tw has pushed the envelope and makes a good product, for the price. There's no doubt seal and shine has superior chemical resistance with no cure than probably anything I've seen and is certainly interesting to watch be exposed to these tests. Im saying that initial chemical resistance doesn't necessarily translate to real world longevity when accounting for time and uv/heat exposure, nor does seal and shine provide any gloss or depth enhancement.

    • @gk7588
      @gk7588 4 роки тому +2

      The problem with your hypothesis is obviously far too many variables. What we do know from Apex detail and especially wax mode is there are few if any products that outperform turtle wax. Real world tests, in the Florida heat. As far as gloss, seal n shine and most definitely the new formula 100% increases gloss. Remember the human eye can only see a 4-6 difference in gloss units. The evidence is all over the place, but many people will always believe the more expensive product is somehow better because it makes them feel better about wasting their money. What we have here is an outlier, a company that should be praised for not taking advantage of the public. Not many products like this in any industry. Why not enjoy it?

    • @scottmattern482
      @scottmattern482 4 роки тому

      @@gk7588 I'm glad you get nearly unbeatable results with a $10 product. I agree that tw pushes the consumer market with their pricing vs performance. I have never had more than a few months of protection from seal n shine topped with ice spray wax and never had the gloss enhanced that i could tell a difference. Granted the initial chemical resistance of seal n shine is amazing to watch on torture tests. Add time and UV, it will break down like all sealants and waxes. If you want that seal n shine effect to last for more than a year, you will be looking at true ceramic coatings. It is nice to know that you can swing by any Walmart or autozone and get a dependable product for the price. I think you would be hard pressed to find a detailer who wouldn't appreciate seal n shine for what it is. However, seal n shine isn't the best product once you start looking past initial chemical resistance. I would rather use a product that smells better and doesn't streak on black paint and sacrifice some longevity. If you use anything other than TW, you will likely be paying considerably more.

It absorbs nothing and spreads great and I do get a longer lasting coating since it doesn't absorb anything and the coating seems thicker but then I started applying less since it isn't absorbed by the cloth so I end up using less now and the bottle lasts me longer. I do allow a half day at least to dry then I use a damp soft cotton hand towel to lightly buff it shiny. Wife probably bought some already for cleaning around the house anyway. Costs nothing when buying a box at Walmart. If they're old they'll be yellow and/or cracked. I haven't tried nitrile gloves but I think they'll still work.

    You should, however, use a clean towel for each application, as reusing on the 2nd panel makes for a higher quantity of aggressive product, which could be a bit unfair.
    I think it would make your review/comparison of products better.
    Loved thst you did this comparison though, as I was just thinking how would they would compare - and thr new formula hasn't arrived in Europe yet!!!?!!!

      I've been using Fusso topped with BSD on a regular basis. Nothing I've seen is as hydrophobic as this combo. It's a great barrier against contamination. I think this is a point being missed on longevity tests. So the LSP resists water and chemicals how about contamination? After 18 months of using my combo on a daily driver it had tiny amounts of fall-out and did not need claying before polishing the car.

    Jimbo, I’m running into a smearing problem with this especially on glass. Glass is cleaned, decontaminated and clayed. Then cleaned again to make sure nothings on it. SNS applied, leaves smears. Changed MFrags, same effect, different window applied much less, same problem. Can’t figure it out.

    • @audieconrad8995

      Use VERY sparingly. A light spray on surface or towel with distilled h2o ($2@CVS) will eliminate clouding/smearing.

    Whats the best durable and most importantly easy to use ceramic spray / sealant / wax?
    I really need to know whats the 1 products is easy to use?
    Im thinking to compare: seal n shine, graphene flex wax, to the max liquid wax, meguiars hybrid ceramic wax, sonax bsd
    Its okay to apply between 1-2months
    I had a expereic with hars to buff producs, i taken care of my paint with very2 safe washing and drying, but cuz the hard to buff products i used, it got me some minor scratches which overtime, more and more visible as time comes.
    So easy to buff of products is the way for me
    Any recommendations?

    • @autodetailingpodcast
      @autodetailingpodcast  16 днів тому

      if youre looking for the easiest to use and great durability i recommend this - amzn.to/478cmNO
      Second easiest would be BSD (especially if you dilute it down a little bit)
      Last easiest to apply would be the TW seal n shine as it does streak pretty bad in most cases.
