I'm sure everyone will be fascinated to learn that aluminum was the second version of the name given to the metal, after the original suggestion of alumium. But it ended up as aluminium in Europe partly due to it sounding more "classical", while some guy in America wanted it to sound more like the expensive "platinum"! 😅
Im american and it sounds more like a metal to me as aluminium . I actually know some guy that calls it arumnin . So every time i have to say aluminum i just have to call it arumnin lol
This is a great video. Thank you sooo kuch for telling us what brushless motor can be used with the stock gearbox. I have asked before and the answers were never clear. Usually “find one that fits” was the answer. Im definitely saving this video and you’ve earned a new subscriber
Just ordered the 7200kv version of the 2430 motor on Amazon and the v2 metal gearbox on aliexpress. Aluminum front suspension and 4 coilovers, and 5-12mm adapters are also on the way. I have a spare dumborc x6 reciever I can use already. Great video! Thanks for the info brotha!
Im wondering if I do the brushless ESC and motor upgrade with the transmitter upgrade can I keep using the stock battery? I'm trying to make mine a drifter
You can keep using the stock battery if you wish, though I'd recommend upgrading when you can simply because it won't last as long (brushless consume more power) and a more powerful battery will allow the brushless to perform its best.
No, a Gyro in an RC Car is used to make the car more stable and easier to control during high speed driving, especially cornering at high speeds (prevents you from losing control of the rear). It won't help during slow speed or precision driving to my knowledge. For that, the base model with its proportional steering is the most important part.
Hi , great video . Do you know will they make upgrade parts for the d12 mini like the original d12 ? I was wonder which should I get for the upgrade and mods .
Thanks! So the D-12 Mini is made by a different company called CXD (not WPL like the original D12), and while I love it, unfortunately it just doesn't seem to be sold as much, and therefore we're not seeing any upgrades for it yet. I'm keeping my eye out though, and if I see any, I will post a video. For that reason, I'd highly recommend you get the original WPL D12 or the new D42 (same chassis) which has plenty of mods available. See my video on the new WPL D42 here: ua-cam.com/video/Iix1k9G9Mtw/v-deo.html

NEED HELP... Upgraded my D12 to metal chassis, suspension, gearbox w/ 370 motor. Now, probably due to the weight, the controller board cuts out and I have to re-bind every time there's any significant load or my headlights just flash. I am willing to upgrade the electronic, but I need someone who knows this sht to tell me exactly what to get. I don't drift. Its a work truck with large sidewall tires. Speed is not my first goal, so the 370 works ok for me. I have a 1200mAh battery. I need something simple to install and maybe a better metal gear steering servo too. Help!
It should run OK with the stock electronics, but if its cutting out then it suggests the motor is over-drawing, likely due to too much friction in the gears. Try to adjust the gears so they mesh well (barely touching, should be relatively free), and add some grease. If you did want to upgrade, then a popular choice is a DumboRC X6 controller (includes receiver), then you just need any cheap 40A or 60A Brushed ESC (check ebay). Not sure about a small metal servo sorry, have'nt done that myself yet. Good luck :)
@@CheapCheerful Thanks, the entire gear train is not binding anywhere I can see or feel but I did install steel gears in the gearbox instead of the brass ones that came with it and greased them well. The transmission came with a ball bearing I couldn't place anywhere in the casing, so not sure what that was about. I'll look at the Dumbo X6. The ESC is still a bit confusing to me, but I'll look. Feel like I'm punting in the dark til I understand what all these electronics do... like do I need to get ones that match frequency (like with my old Tamiya rc car?). Any insight is helpful and thanks for your help so far.
@@joshuauhe6322 I haven't touched my D12 since I wrote my initial comment. I've been thinking long and hard about the issue and I really think it's in the gear box. There's actually a bearing I didn't install b/c I couldn't find where it went. That's probably the issue, even tho it spins free by hand, so apart it will come sometime this winter. I'll keep ya posted here.
Foams. Not something I've done myself, but these are popular to start off with. Also grab some 5mm to 12mm adapters (ebay) Front: bit.ly/30NJCM8 Rear: bit.ly/3CIKrTN
Hello, I recently bought the D42 and crashed it right away lol. I bought aluminum front suspension, but after dismanteling the suspension, the part that broke is where the lower arm is attached to the chassis. Have you seen any replacement lower arm mounts or do I have to buy a new chassis? Thank you for your videos!
Hello! So if you've just broken one of the 'Wishbone' arms or a component of that, then I've seen plenty of those advertised, usually as WPL42 Swing Arm. However if it's the part moulded into the chassis itself which the arms connect to, then yeah you'll need a new chassis. I've broken this area myself, real bummer when the rest of the chassis is fine! Thankfully you can buy chassis only, however double check you're buying the correct one, as there are 2 versions of the chassis (the original, and new). Most likely you have the new version, but always worth giving it a visual check. Thanks and goodluck with the D42, brilliant car!
im confused why would people buy a thing, and then change out every single part in said thing. cant you just buy all the parts without the original thing? surely theres a cheaper body only out there?
Lovely structured informative video! I’ve ordered myself a D12, I’m able to dismantle an iMac but I have zero RC technical experience! Where’s the best place to start learning all of this stuff? Think I’ll be ok if I just take it apart and get stuck in? :)
Thank you! Oh yes, you'll be fine :) everyone in RC just figures it out as they go, and if they get stuck, just search it on youtube and likely someone has a video. UA-cam is definitely the best resource, though WPL has a good presence on Facebook, discussion forums there where people will be happy to answer questions, plus WPL Official Store has great support if you've bought stuff from them. I hope that helps, enjoy! :)

Why did I only NOW learn about that dumborc RX/ light controller combo. THAT would save SO MUCH SPACE!
I'll have to get some!

A+ for pronunciation!
2430 brushless are trash and are way to quick to let the smoke out.
