This challenge looks like a lot of fun, I appreciate this series, Thanks Sir! PS.. Loving my Rival MT! I didn't even try it out on 2s, tossed the 3s in and just wow. first bash, nothing broke and it made me look like a much better driver than I am. Best RC purchase in at least 5 years for me. thank you!
That's pretty impressive!! 33 mph with that lol!!!! I can't wait to see ya mod the suspension and try for 50mph!! Wish I could've seen the crashes in slow motion up close because of the scale look of the truck. Great vid!! Congrats on ur new pb with that set-up too!!
Honestly I am surprised by how well it has stayed together for the price and doing something it was never built to do. They really got the just have fun with it thing figured out. Pretty solid effort on your speed runs.
I love these mods. I’m doing this stuff with a Tamiya Lunchbox. Putting an 120 amp esc with a 4300 kv motor. Those little drone batteries make Miricles happen.
These trucks are just awesome. They're drifters,4wd off-roaders (when custom done) and now speed demons, lol. Is there anything this little truck can't do 😄
Am impressed you kept going, it's impressive the little Hoonigan, Good Job 👍💯 PS those batteries are really good I watch a lot of FPV, and a lot of them use those.. awesome. 👊
Omg Phil i felt for you there Mate was willing it not to crash so you could get the Record 😥 2nd is still great for stock 👍 Don't give up mate 🙏 really enjoyed it and Entertaining as always 👍😎😜👍
Wow brother you have that little thing screaming, such small little tires lol, shelf queen material now I'm afraid. The DUCK IS STILL STANDING 😉😎 SOMEWHERE.....
Stick some weight at the back end, will stop somersaults when you decelerate, better wheels will also help, I ve just done that to a savegry & it worked.
That runway seems perfect for the speedrun, except the surface looks a bit rough, maybe a shorter runway but with a smoother surface would make a difference and no suspension work will be needed, at least that's my opinion
Awesome! But trying to break records with something that has aerodynamics of a brick and light rear and nose heavy is looking for trouble! You need downforce on that rear! Or mor scaled brewskis in that cooler in the rear. But still fun to send it!
Bought my own D12 thanks to your videos of it. Love the quirky little thing and customizable parts so much I bought 2 more in other colors. Only need a good excuse to the lady of the house once they get here as to why I bought them 😅
hey Tomley, quick question. why does my stock D12 go backwards when it should be going forwards ? only thing ive done is the metal rear axle upgrade. any help would be great. thanks and sweet truck.
I see you still have the 2 forward front end torsion bar hold down screws in place, removing them entirely allows the torsion bar to be much more flexible, producing a much softer sprung front suspension. Might help keep your tires in contact at speed. Mine handles much differently without them. P.S. Love the show.
How about extending the track such that you can fit larger wheels outside of the body? 65mm foams or 4 x 144001 fronts (72mm) for more grip and increased gearing. Could add some ballast too if it's a bit flighty. Just my 2p
Hey man I have a question about brushless motors is the bigger the kv the faster they go or is it th other way around? Also I have this amazing truck so much fun
Higher kv is higher speed but it reduces power, higher kv is also less reliable but if you are doing speed runs you want high kv and mess around with the gearing until it has the right amount of power on the wheels to get maximum speed
Oh well... You're going to need to make a miracle with the suspension and wheels to be able to drive it straight... 😕 Unless you find a place with a slicker floor... But then the size becomes and issue, you won't be able to go full throttle inside a basketball court, for example. 😕 Anyway... Great luck trying it! Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Do you reckon maybe it's hitting small pebbles or something? The wheels are so small that maybe it's causing the steering to get jerked to one side or other. Shame, that. Perhaps you could find a smoother surface to run it on? There's bound to be loads of car parks or something. I think that's the problem, that the road surface is just a bit rough for it to handle. Cheers...
Currently working on doing this with my c24. Just put in a 7200kv but my pinion gear stripped. Waiting for more gears. Also have a 2440 6080kv surpass motor on the way. Any updates since you've done this?? different motors? Suggestions?
Change the foams maybe something thicker they'll be wheel spinning over the gravel with the soze of the wheel but only going from what used to happen to me years ago running maradave mavrick n ministock lol good old days
What if you delete the transmission and just put the driveshaft on a used arrma 6s motor/esc 😁 diff go boom (well snap) also maybe a ring box parachute if you got a 3rd channel
Maybe some little weights keep it stable bro,,rc crawlers use erm,,so why not for a little speed machine🤪,,see told you 40 mph,,, harder metal parts bro,,to take stress,,that rival looks nice, 😉😅👍
@@TomleyRC I'm making a little entry nothing serious so far I got a hobbywing 1060 and a 370 rbrc brushed combo but its raining today down in sunny Cornwall so no speed tests today. Had it for a long time but my old 20a esc was not up to the task.
@@TomleyRC oh I see I learned something new today now awesome 😎 that RC is super cool if you can make it 50mph you should do a video racing a RTR drag care for a cheapo vs RTR comparison hahaha would be crazy !
Open the tailgate so the air doesn't get trapped inside of the bed, but yet it would have went straight out the back with no drag. We do that on full size trucks in order to race them👍 I realize this is an old video. And maybe taking the brake off the ESC. Would let it roll after coming off the trigger. Instead of it going to brake. If u wanted to go back for a PB. Speed run👍 I know I would watch that video

Yeah, slow mo close up would be awesome
Smoother road mite help your driveline a little bud keep up the awesomeness love from Australia
Totally crazy! My WPL stays lame and transports the sausages from the grill to the garden table! 😋
Getting strangely suckered in to this build now
That miniature tradesman is on that Friday rush to the pub.
Haha
Nice Run's Phil, She was moving. Nice build Brother. I have to get one of those gear boxes for my one after see your one go...lol. Big Thumb's up.

I’m impressed with the wpl all metal diff. Fast D12 for shore 😎
Yeah... pretty decent!

Love the Lunchbox. I have a black on to build

I no someone with a real life Honda version of this little truck not much bigger than this rc😄😄 keep it up dude 👍
I might have to buy a real one 😎
Love the dude that sits in it😂😂✌️
Great video
Oh no! Hahahahhaha
Well impressed with the hub adaptors staying together after that abuse hehehehe
Yeah.. they did good.
I'm too late to the challenge , but have just ordered myself one to build because of your videos
Can you fit a one way bearing somewhere in the driveline? It would ensure the motor can't apply any braking force to the rear wheels.
Possibly... I could probably Chuck a better ESC in and remove and drag braking so it’s just free rolling off throttle
Good effort i love this little car
Thats a nutty little truck 😜
Awesome 👍👍👍
Great intro 👌🏻
Thanks dude
So close, is there any smoother tarmac around?
Awesome truck, great video😀😀
Hello tom
Awesome video my friend
Nice d12 modified
Thanks mate
Imagine doing over 300 mph in an Isuzu mini truck
The windshield would probably break if it ever reached that speed. :)
I thought it's supposed to be a Suzuki carry
Watch the rl rotor one on hoonigan

Contact foams have plenty of grip. I need to move the battery a little further back and try and get a bit more damping in the suspension

I've built silly things to go fast my entire life,
You build it, break it, fix it, repeat until your faster than fast 🤗🤗
i cant fix mine cuz it caught on fire
@@ngodin7040 oof
Thats awesome for its centre of gravity
Bigger wheels man, more stability and probably more top end
It’s got plenty of top end. Small wide wheels... lower down... more stability 😎
Send it of a skate ramp that be fun to see

speedy man and a van
definitely needs a better surface to run on darnit. one peek at 39 mph.
I still think it looks badass
Better tyres I think would make this thing a record holder.
Very good speeds on 2s , mine still stock and enjoying it 👊🏻👍🏻
Maybe turn drag braking off on the ESC if its on so it can coast with throttle off?
Yeah... I thought I had

I think the smaller wheels and tall gearing are the best option. Keeps the centre of gravity down
@@TomleyRC Yep makes sense. I hadn't thought how tall that would make it. Pretty sure with a few tweaks the record is yours. Good luck!

I think the biggest issue is the road surface, need to run it in smooth concrete, the vibration of the road would be causing all your issues.
It's a Suzuki 😁
This is crazy
Is that Medic in the driving seat? 🙈 His fault is quitter 🤣
Sizzle Sizzle 🥓
Those wheels look awesome though
Haha... it does look a bit like Medic 😅
Good effort mate 👍🏻
A radiolink rc6gs would do well for a tx as you can set the throttle/brake curve for smooth acceleration and soft braking 👍🏻👊🏻🇬🇧
What's the rules on hub extenders to fit bigger wheels
I think that’s within the rules

Gotta get the body kit!
Ok now that is fast 🤣
i figured out that the scx 24 esc is a great cheap replacement for 2
You should try this does run on a different surface liked a basketball court and I bet you'll get better numbers
is the arrma big rock better than the rival mt10
I rate them both about the same. But the Rival is better value 👌

can you do a skate park bash with the xlf f17?
what gear set did you use?
That's crazy cool ! Sorry to see it go down like that 😔 hopefully you can fix it & do a redemption run 💯👍
I feel like you could get 50mph maybe with grippier tyres, but idk
Tyres have plenty of grip... it’s the suspension more than anything

You need someone else to be your camera person so you can use 2 hands while you try getting a better pass
I had 2 hands this time. Camera mounted on the transmitter
