This challenge looks like a lot of fun, I appreciate this series, Thanks Sir! PS.. Loving my Rival MT! I didn't even try it out on 2s, tossed the 3s in and just wow. first bash, nothing broke and it made me look like a much better driver than I am. Best RC purchase in at least 5 years for me. thank you!

Honestly I am surprised by how well it has stayed together for the price and doing something it was never built to do. They really got the just have fun with it thing figured out. Pretty solid effort on your speed runs.
I love these mods. I’m doing this stuff with a Tamiya Lunchbox. Putting an 120 amp esc with a 4300 kv motor. Those little drone batteries make Miricles happen.

Can you fit a one way bearing somewhere in the driveline? It would ensure the motor can't apply any braking force to the rear wheels.
Possibly... I could probably Chuck a better ESC in and remove and drag braking so it’s just free rolling off throttle

That runway seems perfect for the speedrun, except the surface looks a bit rough, maybe a shorter runway but with a smoother surface would make a difference and no suspension work will be needed, at least that's my opinion

Stick some weight at the back end, will stop somersaults when you decelerate, better wheels will also help, I ve just done that to a savegry & it worked.
Contact foams have plenty of grip. I need to move the battery a little further back and try and get a bit more damping in the suspension

LOL! This is crazy. How about a bicycle vellodrome? The anklebiter.
Open the tailgate so the air doesn't get trapped inside of the bed, but yet it would have went straight out the back with no drag. We do that on full size trucks in order to race them👍 I realize this is an old video. And maybe taking the brake off the ESC. Would let it roll after coming off the trigger. Instead of it going to brake. If u wanted to go back for a PB. Speed run👍 I know I would watch that video

Awesome! But trying to break records with something that has aerodynamics of a brick and light rear and nose heavy is looking for trouble!
You need downforce on that rear! Or mor scaled brewskis in that cooler in the rear.

How about extending the track such that you can fit larger wheels outside of the body? 65mm foams or 4 x 144001 fronts (72mm) for more grip and increased gearing. Could add some ballast too if it's a bit flighty. Just my 2p
I think the smaller wheels and tall gearing are the best option. Keeps the centre of gravity down

Bought my own D12 thanks to your videos of it. Love the quirky little thing and customizable parts so much I bought 2 more in other colors. Only need a good excuse to the lady of the house once they get here as to why I bought them 😅

definitely needs a better surface to run on darnit. one peek at 39 mph.
I see you still have the 2 forward front end torsion bar hold down screws in place, removing them entirely allows the torsion bar to be much more flexible, producing a much softer sprung front suspension. Might help keep your tires in contact at speed. Mine handles much differently without them.

I think the biggest issue is the road surface, need to run it in smooth concrete, the vibration of the road would be causing all your issues.

A radiolink rc6gs would do well for a tx as you can set the throttle/brake curve for smooth acceleration and soft braking 👍🏻👊🏻🇬🇧

Unless you find a place with a slicker floor... But then the size becomes and issue, you won't be able to go full throttle inside a basketball court, for example. 😕

Do you reckon maybe it's hitting small pebbles or something? The wheels are so small that maybe it's causing the steering to get jerked to one side or other. Shame, that. Perhaps you could find a smoother surface to run it on? There's bound to be loads of car parks or something. I think that's the problem, that the road surface is just a bit rough for it to handle. Cheers...

I feel like you could get 50mph maybe with grippier tyres, but idk
Tyres have plenty of grip... it’s the suspension more than anything

What if you delete the transmission and just put the driveshaft on a used arrma 6s motor/esc 😁 diff go boom (well snap) also maybe a ring box parachute if you got a 3rd channel
Maybe some little weights keep it stable bro,,rc crawlers use erm,,so why not for a little speed machine🤪,,see told you 40 mph,,, harder metal parts bro,,to take stress,,that rival looks nice, 😉😅👍

Hey man I have a question about brushless motors is the bigger the kv the faster they go or is it th other way around? Also I have this amazing truck so much fun
Higher kv is higher speed but it reduces power, higher kv is also less reliable but if you are doing speed runs you want high kv and mess around with the gearing until it has the right amount of power on the wheels to get maximum speed

@@TomleyRC I'm making a little entry nothing serious so far I got a hobbywing 1060 and a 370 rbrc brushed combo but its raining today down in sunny Cornwall so no speed tests today. Had it for a long time but my old 20a esc was not up to the task.
