It’s fascinating that so many brilliant actors seemed to get into it through almost complete happenstance.
I can’t believe she’s 75!!! That’s wild. She looks early 50’s at most
She does look amazing. She's got a baby face though, and I think that always helps.
She looks every bit of 75. Maybe you live around a coal mine or something...
@@ShainAndrews You have a very skewed idea of what a 75yr old looks like, Sarandon looks 60 at best, great skin that she clearly takes good care of.
@@ShainAndrews You must live around a farm since you have the manners of a pig.
@@ShainAndrews She reaaaaally doesn't look 75.
What a Legend. She is so honest and a breath of fresh air.
Sooo true! Couldn't have said it better myself!
Yes she is 💯 amazing
She said that about voting for Trump
Forget her politics, she's an amazing actress that stayed a star for decades.
She just has that "It" factor
I’ve met her in person and she was so kind yet fabulous. I asked to get a picture & she said: of course, I would be honored . LIKE WHAT! I love her, very personable
Ti amo Susan saràndon ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Not me tearing up when she started talking about "stepmom." Also that film really made me cry too! Susan sarandon is forever a class act 💅🏽
One of my favourite films!
Did you tear up when she joined FOX too? I sure did! Dangerous hypocrisy.
The restaurant scenes, the crying stars with Ed then with sobbing with Julia.
Her natural aire of authenticity really bleeds through in to her performances. Her roles always feel so real, human... even the 'good' characters were always lightly flawed. What a presence.
The ending of Thelma and Louise was so beautiful, it’s wild to think she really created some of the most beautiful parts of the movie. The beauty in that movie is it’s realism
They could've made this video an hour long, and that would've been just fine with me. We have a lot to talk about when it comes to Susan Sarandon and the wonderful career she's had.
*💌Í´d give her an oscar for this video❤🔥💛❤*
Literally I could listen to her talk for hours.
That final Christmas scene between mother and daughter in “Stepmom” brings tears every time, that movie is so relevant even today
This interview made me cry. I didn't expect to cry watching this, lol.
You can tell she doesn't feel any need to ingratiate herself. She's honest because she's free. I love that about her.
I wish this had been longer. There are so many more Susan Sarandon films I want her to discuss, like Bull Durham and Atlantic City. And also, I think Thelma & Louise is one of the best movies ever made. That finale gets me every time.
I said the same thing. And definitely add "Pretty Baby", which was a crazy shoot and a great movie. "The Hunger" with David Bowie. I never saw "The Banger Sisters" but I'd love to hear about the making of it. But man oh man, "Atlantic City"......with Burt Freaking Lancaster, how could that NOT make this interview?
@@TTM9691 plus Atlantic City was her first Academy Award nomination for Best Actress
@@TTM9691 Great comment and initial comment. Totally agree on Lancaster and "Atlantic City."
How could they not mention Bill Durham???
Before that movie, Hollywood had no faith in baseball movies
The best Little Women EVER!! The casting of all parts was perfect and Sarandon’s warmth and maternal love infused the whole story, even when she wasn’t in the scene. I don’t understand why they’re still remaking it when this one exists.
Well, the 1994 "Little Women" wasn't the first "Little Women" movie, either. There already had been movies in 1933 and 1949, two British silent movies in 1918 and 1919, a tv special in 1978 and even a Japanese anime series in 1987.
I really liked the most recent version, although the 90s one was the one I grew up with. I think they both have their strengths and there's room for all the adaptations, because they show us something about themselves and the world/time they were made in, even if they don't do anything especially different with the material.
@@TheAmarok87
I know. I’ve been a movie buff since the 1970s, and I worked in a video store in the 1990s where I had a coterie of customers who would watch everything I put on my recommendation shelf-even if they didn’t always like my choices; and I’ve seen all the others. This wasn’t an uninformed post, it’s my honest assessment of the casting, directing, performances, and chemistry, based on my love for the story, which I read so many times as a little girl. It was the perfect Little Women!
@@helenl3193
You intrigue me… If I’m able to find a way to see the most recent adaptation, I’ll check it out.
@@maryrosekent8223 agree
Susan Sarandon a legend. She was very good in Stepmom and cunning in Enchanted .
I find Susan Sarandon completely fascinating. She thinks deeply about things and clearly makes up her own mind without being pushed one way or the other by people. I would love to just sit and have a conversation with her.
Thelma & Louise is such a masterpiece.
I like that she is honest about the industry. Most actors get in because of their connections, other talented people don't stand a chance, others get there sort of accidentally and others will never have the money to develop the skills required (dancing, singing, acting lessons, socializing with the right people), the way contracts can be used to pin people to the job.
The fact that she said baby daddy. I didn't think I could love her anymore than I already did
“my Italian baby daddy” I tell you I cackled
She's a goddess of stage and the silver screen !!!! I fell in love with her at 17 when I first saw Rocky Horror at the height of it's popularity, with everyone dressing up and acting in front of the screen, squirting water pistols, etc... and I've loved her MORE with every film she made!!
Exactly the same experience here!!
"GREAT SCOTT "!!!
This could have been 6 hour of Susan talking about the movies and I would have been happy to listen , amazing career and makes me want to revisit some of these movies
Omg I forgot about that show it was so good
Would have loved to hear of her experience on The Hunger. Tony Scott! Catherine Deneuve! AND David Bowie! That is stellar.
I listened to the audio commentary of the film, which she participated in, and she sees the film as a missed opportunity because of how it ended.
I love that she's been a star for decades but is so devoid of BS. Legend!
I really adore Susan, she's such a versatile actress. I love how her daughter Eva Amurri appeared in some of her projects, such as her daughter in "The Banger Sisters" and her younger self in "That's my Boy."
You need better heros.
Yes she’s the best! 💗
I absolutely love how frank and intelligent she is. As a child who experienced their parents very messy divorce at a VERY young age, I love the points she brought up while talking about Stepmom and the difficulty of navigating the transition of a step parent into one's life - just got lucky that both of mine were extraordinarily loving people 💕
My mom was diagnosed with cancer in 2002 and Stepmom was our favorite movie. We have watched the movie together so many times until her death...20 years later everytime I miss her, I plug my old VCR and watch it all over again!
What Susan shares about Stepmom gives me an even greater appreciation for that incredibly beautiful movie that I've rewatched countless times since it was first released. ❤ To this day, I can never hear the song Ain't No Mountain High Enough without thinking of that unforgettable scene in the movie!
It's a great film 😊
Step mom was always (to me) the most poinant film
Ironically I've avoided Stepmom since its release, feeling it was too maudlin. Hearing her talk and getting emotional about it, now I want to see it. 😂
same here! i've only rewatched a few times as it's truly so painful every time - but its such a beautiful movie! shes amazing.
She’s the most self aware actress I think I’ve ever seen. Really interesting
I just love her. So much of what she said feels like such a read. She burned down the library with: "Maybe because I wasn't desperate. Epic.
Susan has had a great career, I grew up watching Thelma and Louise a great piece of film history
I always knew Velma swung that way.
@@criminalsaint9611
Lmao
Such a class act. As an ex actress myself, the fact that she didn't really try to have this career is maddening. I am glad she found it. We are all better by watching her on screen. 💚
I love Susan, she's a great actress and human being. I wish they didn't skip Feud in this, It was her best performance imo. She was fenomenal as Bette Davis. As was Jessica Lange as Joan Crawford. They both deserved that Emmy and I'm still pissed that none of them didn't win that year. Both of them gave truly outstanding performances.
Omg I agree what a truly wonderful series. 2 legends portraying legends. A fabulous series.
It was Nicole Kidman's year. She had it on lock.
Stepmom will always be one of her most and best well known movies I feel. It’s such a touching and powerful movie it has such a warm feeling the whole movie, It will always be one of my favorite all time movies her and Julia Roberts will always be iconic acting together❤️
I was really hoping that Susan would talk about her Bette Davis in Feud, but she only talked about films so it's understandable. Now. What an AMAZING CAREER SHE HAS!!! So many great movies!
Thank you Susan, you are one of the very best.
I adore what she brought to Janet! Rocky Horror has to be one of my favorite movies ever.
Just watched Witches of Eastwick last week and Sarandon totally took my heart in that one with how beautiful she was. She seems so down to earth, sensitive and smart too. Lovely!
Susan's reaction to "Stepmom" hit me like a truck. I had the first 20 years of my life with my Mom and "Step" Mom before my biological Mom passed away. I watched "Stepmom" as a kid and remember being amused by the moms feuding, but then of course I was able to appreciate the film on a whole other level after my Mom passed. Now I'm 35 and it's still one my and my "step" Mom's favorite movies.
She's my favourite actress. What a icon. Stepmom is one if my favourite movies and it always makes me cry.
And mine!! 💗💗
Her & Julia Roberts killed that roles
This was so wonderful to watch. Susan Sarandon is a legend and her artistry just emanates empathy.
Whenever i think of Susan Sarandon i will always associate her with Thelma and Louise. It's such an iconic movie and it's become one of my all-time favorites.
She is definitely a legend, my favorite Hollywood “mom” for sure. I absolutely love her in Little Women and Stepmom.
I've seen most of these...I love her dry humor and it doesn't seem like she takes herself too seriously.
I also adore White Palace and Bull Durham. I love Susan Sarandon
*EVERY FAMILY HAS SOMEONE WHO BREAKS THE CHAIN OF POVERTY IN THAT FAMILY,I PRAY YOU BE THE ONE*
Talking about being successful! I know am blessed because if not I wouldn't have met someone who is as spectacular as expert Mrs Blossom Jefferson
The greatest regret is not trying and failing but it is not to trying at allFunny enough people aspire to emulate great investors and entrepreneurs, of our time but they only see their wins
and achievements and they careless about their
challenges and failures during multiple trials and the
lesson it teaches
I wouldn't agree less but a times we are influenced based on result of what will see and experience, failure at first try doesn't mean it is over but unfortunately people seems to back off when they have experiences some obstacle or failure along the way
You have to recognize you need an expert that
understands how to read the market so you can avoid
winning today and losing tomorrow. There's reason why experts like Mrs Blossom wins all the time,I was a bit skeptical but she
Kept encouraging me to invest and it turn out very
successful
Who doesn't know Mrs blossom? It's been a year since i met her and I'm still making great profits under her guidance.
I'm so glad that Stepmom has the most replays. It's my all-time favorite film and it is such a classic to me. The fact that she has not aged since then is tremendously amazing!
She is so real. I kept giggling at her swearing and calling the Nutty Professor the most political movie. I love her.
She´s a treasure, what a great legacy!!!! SUSAN YOU WILL ALWAYS BE FAMOUS.
Never would have guessed that was a wig on her in Witches of Eastwick! It just looked like her hair just more vibrant
Love this rare gem of a woman. So graceful, intelligent and clear-minded.
The scene in Step Mom with Julia and Susan talking about their fears after she's gone broke me. Like...actually broke me. I can't think about it without crying.
Same! 💔
She’s so blunt. I love it
Good choices, but disappointed not to see Bull Durham which is and always shall be my favorite movie with Sarandon in it. A masterpiece for the ages.
I agree, I love that movie!
I was surprised they didn't cover that one!
@@Happytravellerkimmy Maybe it's because that's the film Tim Robbins and her fell in love.
Oh, yeah, I was waiting for Bull Durham on the Timeline... one of my favorites. Perfect baseball film. Great soundtrack. Susan Sarandon!
@@richardthebear I don't think so, Tim also directed her in Dead Man Walking and she even mentioned him! :)
Lorenzo’s Oil was when I first saw Susan Sarandon and fell in love with her and her acting. Her performance in that movie was brilliant.
Always loved Susan Sarandon. True legend in my life.
that is SO CRAZY about witches of eastwick. I think everyone is perfectly cast in that.
I was touched at her reaction when talking about Stepmom. That was a nice reaction to a very sad movie.
I was moved to tears when she explained her process for StepMom, as she welled up with tears. This movie resonated with me, not because me or my Stepdaughter's Mom were terminally ill, but because of the early struggles we went through. I met my Stepdaughter when she was 3, she is now 30 with a child of her own. Her Mom and I get along so well now, we compliment each other (she is my Daughter's StepMom, as when my marriage dissolved. They got back together). It took years, lots of upside and downs & disconnects. But we are a true family, she is a surrogate StepMom to my Son (different Dad), and I consider her other children as my Step children. As we say our Family is "7 kids, 4 Dad's & 3 Mom's" it blows some people's minds. But this movie when I first saw it taught me so very much about how to become one family, united. Thank you for that
I wish this was longer, you can feel she is just very authentic and has some great movies under her belt.
i am shocked they didn't talk about Bull Durham, one of my favorite movies and a stellar performance by her
She’s such a talented actor and I love her comic timing. I have so many things to say and whatever I say will not be enough.
One of my favourite actresses and still stunning
She's a fantastic actress
Loved the Rocky Horror Picture Show.
I also saw it in NYC. People went on stage. It was crazy. What a great time it was!
I watched a lot of her films on HBO when I was young, and they all left a great impression on my memory. Her acting is so great, she's really a good actor.
“The Client” was on tv the other night and it was the first time I had seen it in probably 20 years (I’m 35) and I was just BLOWN away by everyone in it, including Susan. She and a Tommy Lee Jones really carried that movie like no others could.
Susan is fearless and so talented
“Thelma & Louise” inspired me so much. I was a high school girl that time, a Taiwanese in East Asia. She is definitely a Legend.
"Janet!" - Doctor Scott!" - "Janet!" - "Brad!" - "Rocky!" My favourite scene with Susan. Pure Gold.
She's just stellar. An amazing actress.
I love her and how honest she is
Love Susan surrandon. So many great roles over time
she’s so kind, strong and beautiful. her career is brilliant! i love you, susan♥️
This is a break down done right. Letting a brilliant person freely share her perspectives. Nicely done, VF.
She is amazing, so many incredible performances
Stepmom w/ Julia was probably her best movie...because it was the most raw and emotionally real movie of the bunch. Even re-watching it again years later? It's still a tear-jerker that simply packs a punch.
There's so much more to talk about. Susan deserves a Part 2 for this. Maybe even a Part 3. They've barely scratched the surface of her iconic filmography.
"In the Valley of Elah" - Sarandon at the top of her game. Incredible.
Everything she says is so real and meaningful. She is truly an inspiration.
Susan Sarandon spoke throughout this interview with more personal conviction and penetrating insight than any of the other actors I’ve seen in this series. This was a masterclass in seizing the moment and treating it with dignity.
it's so cute how she wears her honey necklace for interviews. she's the best
The Client was amazing def my fav role of hers
Susan is so amazing. I hope history does justice and she gets to be recognized for her talent and bravery.
She definitely does not have the recognition she truly deserves.
One of my all-time favs - I feel very lucky to be able to watch her fantastic talent on screen throughout these decade - and may there be many more!
THANK YOU for including Stepmom. I cannot begin to explain what this movie means to me after having lost my mom at the age of 30 (pretty late in comparison, but still). And the fact that she is moved to this day by the story. Her talking about it was everything I had hoped it would be.
Wow, I’ve always loved her, but hearing her describe her journey is incredible. She is so disarming in the best way.
Step Mom is one of my all time favorite movies. Love you Susan
I need that Little Women reunion to be televised please!!!
Can we all just appreciate the beauty of this amazing woman and what she brings to the screen! ❤️
Stepmom gets me every time. I should watch that again soon for a good cry.
What a delight. I could listen to her talk for hours.
This was really interesting and fun. Much love to her. 💜
I love Susan Sarandon, she is just amazing.
Love how honest this lady is
Loved her in Dead Man Walking. One of the best films in history
It's always a delight to see and listen to her. She's really a remarkable actress. She's always true to herself and shows how much she loves acting. I love her. I really love love her.
Wow, 2 seconds in and I'm glad I clicked this video. I can't believe I forgot how beautiful her VOICE is 🌹🙌🏾
Wow, she looks incredible and I love this hairstyle on her. Quite the career she's had.
I could listen to her all day. This video is too short.
Such a legend, the true definition of a star
i just love her, she's so generous in her acting and humanity
Genuine, pure, legendary! I enjoyed every second of this!
amazing actress in everything she ever does ! just incredible
I love her in TaL, Witches, Banger Sisters with Goldie Hawn, Stepmom, ...I love Susan Sarandon!!
